On December 17, the reporter came to the Taiping National Wetland Park in Zoucheng City, and rows of floats lay quietly on the pond, and in the water about 30 centimeters under these floats, there were vigorous river mussels suspended and raised, relying on the pipe network system to absorb nutrient solutions. In the body of the river mussel, pearls are growing slowly.

"Raising river mussels in ponds can not only harvest crystal pearls, but also greatly improve the water quality of the pond, so that the 'stagnant water' of the pond becomes 'alive' and 'clear'." At the pond, Fei Linjiang, assistant general manager of Yankuang Qinghu Ecological Technology (Shandong) Co., Ltd., introduced that in the past, these ponds were inferior class V water.

Taiping National Wetland Park is a coal mining subsidence, and ponds have been dug out during treatment, but due to fish feeding, fish discharge of feces, etc., resulting in eutrophication of water bodies, coupled with the lack of flow of water bodies, the water quality gradually deteriorated. In March 2013, 1,100 hectares of subsidence were included in the Pilot National Wetland Park. After several years of unremitting efforts, the ecological environment of coal mining subsidence has undergone fundamental changes, but the water quality has not been completely improved.

Thousands of miles away, Shanxiahu Town in Zhuji City, Zhejiang Province, is known as the land of pearls, and is also the location of the country's largest pearl market, and the headquarters of Qinghu Group is located here. Before coming to Zoucheng, they had many experiences in Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Zhuji and other places using farmed river mussels for water treatment. In September 2019, Qinghu Group came with the biological chain water control and targeted pearl culture technology, reached a mixed reform cooperation with Yankuang Group, and established Yankuang Qinghu Ecological Technology (Shandong) Co., Ltd., and signed a contract to carry out ecological restoration and treatment in the collapsed area.

"In the past, due to the accumulation of too much organic matter and serious eutrophication in these ponds, it was impossible for the people to benefit from aquaculture, and the arrival of targeted breeding technology broke this situation." Fei Linjiang introduced, compared with the traditional breeding, the target pearl culture technology feeding system is not only accurate, can reduce the destruction of water resources and waste of feed, but also improve the use of water resources, intensive high-density breeding technology can make each mu of pond hanging river mussels 2000-3000, expanding economic benefits at the same time, but also accelerate the governance of the water environment.

"Each river mussel is actually a small 'water filter' that can absorb phytoplankton, algae, fungi, microorganisms, etc. in the water." The Ferin River describes in detail that a river mussel can purify 40-50 liters of water per day at room temperature. After about 8 months, the once inferior Class V "dead" water here has reached the class III and IV water standards suitable for aquaculture, and has successfully "lived", and the water quality has always remained within a certain range.

Fei Linjiang said that there are now 31 ponds in the aquaculture plan, of which, in addition to 3 temporarily unusable ponds and 1 pond for comparison, the remaining 27 have been used for aquaculture, with a total of 1.09 million river mussels. The contrast pond and the breeding pond are only separated by a bank of reeds, and the reporter saw that the water in the contrast pond is turbid in color, and the water in the breeding pond is clear to the bottom.
