"Slayer Warrior" Alan Eckhart Interview "The New Frankenstein is a Superhero"

Alan Eckhart

Time.com LOS Angeles - The fantasy action film "Slayer Warrior" starring Hollywood movie star Alan Eckhart is being screened Chinese mainland, and the story of Frankenstein, a New Interpretation, has been completely reinterpreted. The film is also based on Shelley's original Frankenstein, but the film tells frankenstein to be packaged as a superhero character.

The new generation of Frankenstein, who has been brilliantly portrayed in films such as "The Dark Knight" and "Thank You for Smoking", how does he understand the legendary role he plays for this actor who is good at playing both good and evil characters?

Born in California, 47, Alan Eckhart became famous in the movie "The Cheapest Man" in 1997, and in his nearly 20-year acting career, he not only worked with powerful stars such as Julia Roberts and Jack Nicholson, but also starred in many commercial productions and independent films. Recently, Alan Eckhart was interviewed by Time Network reporters in Los Angeles to hear how he views the role of Frankenstein and the movie "Slayer Warrior".

Mtime: The character of Frankenstein has been around for more than 100 years since he was born in the novel, but he has never faded from the audience's attention.

Alan Eckhart: Frankenstein is actually a man of many stories, he's a very malleable character. From the moment he was created by his "father", he was abandoned by the whole world, everyone alienated him, he was ostracized by society, and he continued to search for love and the purpose of life. In fact, everyone has a different personality trait Frankenstein in his heart, some people think he is good, some people think he is evil, but he is indeed very sensitive, and at the same time he is a terrible "monster", these factors determine that this role has a lot of room to play. I believe that Shelley, the original author of "Frankenstein", poured a lot of affection into this role, which is why this role looks so real. Because of his complexity and special encounters, he can endure in film and television works.

Mtime: So what's different about this time's Slayer warriors and past Frankenstein films?

Alan Eckhart: It's a very dreamy action movie, it shows a uniquely shaped Gothic church, and the action special effects scenes in the film account for a lot of the proportion, which is very different from other Frankenstein films, and the past Frankenstein movies didn't have such big action scenes. "Demon Slayer Warrior" is not limited by the original book, but it is not completely free from the relationship between the monster and the father.

Mtime: You're playing a heroic role this time, but it doesn't always come up in your career, can you say that?

Alan Eckhart: I think most people will remember that I played a little more of a bad guy, but I personally don't see it that way, but I'm not a bad guy in recent years, such as The Fall of Olympus, Delicious Love, and Thank You For Smoking. In The Dark Knight, he is a two-faced man of both good and evil, and not a pure bad person.

Mtime: Since you're starring in "Slayer Warrior" this time and you're talking about Frankenstein, are you going to study Shelley's original Frankenstein?

Alan Eckhart: Yeah, I'm going to reread the novel before I start it. I also read it when I was in school, and many people would read such classics at that time, but at that time I just thought that the story was more bizarre and interesting, and I didn't think that one day I would play Frankenstein. When I want to play this role, I have to try to figure out the psychology of this role, what does this character really want? Is he looking for someone he loves? Or is it a choice between good and evil? By acting in this movie, I learned that Frankenstein is a great warrior, and it can also be said to be a superhero.

Mtime: Since this is an action movie, the physical training is very hard, right?

Alan Eckhart: It's crazy, it's tough. I had to do martial arts training 6 months before the film started, and even so, I was hit in the neck by a stick during a shooting, and the doctor helped me see it and said that it would almost paralyze me, which was really dangerous.

Mtime: You've lived in Los Angeles for most of your working life, but you seem to like to travel to Europe?

Alan Eckhart: Los Angeles is naturally the heart of world cinema, but the hectic work is also stressful, so I like to travel abroad in my spare time, not only in Europe, but also in North Africa. Although I am An American, I do enjoy traveling with various countries in Europe, and this year I went to France and Switzerland, and the next step is to go to the United Kingdom and Australia. Although Australia is different from Europe, this land is also very attractive to me.

Mtime: You've starred in a lot of independent films in your career, can you tell us about the current state of American independent films?

Alan Eckhart: Most independent films are tough to shoot, and after they're made, the lucky films are quickly bought out by big companies, and independent filmmakers only make a fraction of the money. Overall, independent films are still a struggling phase in the United States.

Mtime: The actor industry is very competitive, how do you maintain a good attitude?

Alan Eckhart: The first thing is, of course, to do a good job of performing every time, and at the same time maintain a communication with the audience to understand which performances the audience recognizes you. Making a movie is not just for yourself, but also for the audience to enjoy. It is enough to keep learning, to keep enriching, and to be yourself.

Mtime: From an actor's point of view, how do you think film should maintain the balance between business and art?

Alan Eckhart: Actors still don't think too much about the commercial and literary attributes of the film, which is after all the work of directors and producers. Actors are to act well in movies, to act well in every scene, which is the most important thing. As for the market prospects of the film and the reputation of the awards, that is not something that the actor can control. But it has to be said that hollywood movies are now making it increasingly difficult to find a balance between art and business.

Mtime: You've played rival roles with many big stars, like Nicole Kidman's "Rabbit Hole," Johnny Depp's "The Rum Diaries," Julia Roberts' "Never Compromise," and is there pressure to play against big stars?

Alan Eckhart: Playing against these big stars is an important part of my career, so that I can get more attention, and it will be a bit stressful to act with them, but they are all great actors and will have a good impact on you.
