Growing up is always an annoying proposition. Sometimes it grows up very slowly, singing ding-dong songs like a stream, but sometimes it is so sudden, like a rainstorm splitting the head and covering the face... The three children experienced a sudden growth because of several unjust cases in the town - pain and confusion, sadness and anger, but also warmth and emotion. This is the growth classic of love and true knowledge.

This year marks the 55th anniversary of To Kill a Mockingbird.

In the more than half-century since its publication, the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic has been translated into more than 50 languages, conquered 40 million readers worldwide, and has been repeatedly named one of the 10 most important works of the 20th century. The 1962 film of the same name based on the novel also earned an Oscar, Gregory Pike.

Hear what they have to say about the book? Oprah, Clinton, Xu Zongli

To Kill a Mockingbird was almost the first book I encouraged others to read.

—Oprah Winfrey

When Starr addressed the North Carolina Bar Association in June, he compared himself to Atticus Finch, the brave white Southern lawyer in To Kill a Mockingbird. Starr, with his sense of moral superiority, did not pay attention to rules, order, and integrity, and it was unbearable for Bill and me to compare himself to Finch.

—Hillary Clinton

When I was young, I watched "The Story of Meigang City" (that is, "Killing a Mockingbird"), and I was overwhelmed by the story of the legal people fighting for the rights and interests of the weak in the film, and the story of the illegal or evil law debate, and I was more certain of the desire to become a legal person.

Harper Lee

Oprah has only had two failed interviews in her life, once again with Jacqueline Kennedy and once with Harper Lee, the author of "Kill a Mockingbird." In Oprah's heart, Harper Lee is a writer who is willing to isolate herself from the world, preserving nature and purity, but for Oprah Winfrey, the "queen of talk shows", this simplicity is the ideal country that she longs to escape, but can only suppress in her heart.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" started out as just some of Harper's memories of his childhood. However, perhaps because the trauma of childhood was too deep, Harper was anxious to heal his wounds by writing, and it was not until the publication of the novel caused a sensation that Harper realized that he was actually writing a semi-autobiographical novel. In his native Monroeville, Harper has encountered increasingly fierce criticism as "To Kill a Mockingbird" became a bestseller. People were seated in the book and were enraged, and some even sent threatening letters to Harper. Harper's other sister, Louise, also expressed dissatisfaction with her writing such a book because she did not like to expose family scandals. Harper began to drink heavily, and it was said that she would drink a martini before lunch, and sometimes, the reception guests also used wine as water. After entering old age, for physical reasons, Harper finally quit drinking. Five years ago, after suffering a stroke, Harper decided to move back home and ended up in a nursing home. Probably because of her illness, she seems to have finally reconciled with herself. However, the book "To Kill a Mockingbird" is still an eternal taboo for her. Classic quotes

1.people generally see what they look for, and hear what they listen for.

People generally see only what they are looking for and only hear what they want to hear.

2.you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view.

You can never really get to know a person unless you look at things from his point of view.

3.real courage is when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what.

True courage is when you know you're going to lose before you even start, but you still have to do it and stick to it anyway.

4.mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. they don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. that's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.

Robins only sing to us and do nothing bad. They don't eat the flowers, fruits and vegetables in people's gardens, they don't make nests in corn silos, they just sing for us faithfully. That's why killing a mockingbird is a sin.

5.but there is one way in this country inwhich all men are created equal—there is one human institution that makes apauper the equal of a rockefeller, the stupid man the equal of an einstein, andthe ignorant man the equal of any college president. that institution, gentlemen, is a court.

In this kingdom, there is a way that all people are born equal. There is an institution that can make a poor man equal to Rockefeller, a fool equal to Einstein, and an ignorant man equal to any university president. This body, gentlemen, is the tribunal.
