He himself was a little hesitant, originally he was more fond of being smart and capable old sixth, Du Shoutian knew that Yi Xuan's talent was quite different from Yi Xuan's, so he let Yi Xi please the Daoguang Emperor with his heart of benevolence and filial piety.
This trick really worked, and Daoguang ate this set very much. As a result, with the help of Du Shoutian, Yi Xuan successfully became emperor, that is, Xianfeng.
Why did Du Shoutian, who helped the Xianfeng Emperor seize the throne, not contribute to the governance of the country?
The relationship between Xianfeng and his teacher Du Shoutian can be said to be a good story in history. Du Shoutian made great contributions in the process of Xianfeng becoming emperor, but after Xianfeng ascended the throne, he did not forget this former teacher.

It can be said that Xian Feng was not only grateful to his teacher, but also regarded him as an important auxiliary, and he was consulted on all major national events. During Du Shoutian's tenure as an official, he bowed down and did his best to serve the country and the people.
However, it seems that there is no sign of him in the Xianfeng Dynasty, and he has not seen any earth-shattering events.

Du Shoutian died of illness in the third year of Xianfeng, and it can only be said that there was not much time for him.
In a limited time, Du Shoutian focused on the disasters in Shandong and Jiangnan. In the second year of Xianfeng, Du Shoutian personally went to the disaster relief, and after handling the disaster relief affairs in Shandong, he went to Jiangsu without stopping. As a result, he died of illness in Jiangsu at the age of 66.
However, Du Sentian still made his own contribution in a limited time. People like Lin Zexu and Zhou Tianjue were only revived under the sponsorship of Du Shoutian. XianFeng was very saddened by the death of his mentor, and personally went to du house to pay tribute and wept bitterly in the coffin. This is not to mention, Xianfeng also gave the highest title of Enshi - Wenzheng, to know that in the entire Qing Dynasty for two hundred and ninety years, after the death of Wenzheng's ministers, but eight people.
By the way, the Du family has a prominent family lineage, "one door seven jinshi", "father and son five Hanlin", and there are high-ranking officials who have been awarded the title of "Taishi Taibao".
Before Xian Feng's death, he had specially designated eight imperial court ministers who were deeply trusted by him as auxiliary ministers, then called "Gu Ming Eight Ministers", one of whom was Du Han, the son of Du Shoutian, and the reason why Du Han was able to climb all the way to the official path was that in addition to his own efforts, it was more because his father was Du Shoutian.
However, cixi immediately launched a coup d'état, and Du Han was dismissed from his post and exiled to Xinjiang, where he was pardoned and has not been able to leave the house ever since.
