Li Ke's last years: scolding the eldest grandson for not being jealous and not dying well, remembering Li Shimin's admonition to him not to be crazy

author:Uncle
Li Keyingwu, Li Zhi decayed, Zhizi Moruo's father. However, when he listened to the unscrupulous words of the eldest grandson, he could be described as a wise man and ignorant for a while.

Tang Taizong Li Shimin had 14 sons in his lifetime, but almost none of his sons had a good ending, and the most unfortunate of them was Li Ke, the third son of Wu Wang. Li Ke was born in 619, his mother was Consort Yang, the daughter of the Sui Emperor, and was of royal blood in two dynasties. Such a birth is also rare, and Li Ke, who is both humanistic and martial, is also very good among the princes.

Even Li Shimin himself once said: Wu Wang Keying is like me. Li Shimin is more familiar to everyone, although he forced his father to kill his brother, he is still a proper Ming Jun. To be like him, it must be extraordinary, and he will be a good emperor in the future. Among Li Shimin's many sons, Li Ke was the only one who received such an evaluation, and because of this, he once had the opportunity to become the heir. In the seventeenth year of Zhenguan (643), Li You, the King of Qi, plotted against the prince Li Chengqian, resulting in the deposing of the crown prince.

Emperor Taizong verbally promised Li Tai the Prince of Wei to be crown prince, but Li Chengqian accused Li Tai of plotting against him, so both were imprisoned. After experiencing these events, the only princes that Li Shimin could choose were Li Ke the Prince of Wu and Li Zhi the Prince of Jin, and under the persuasion of the eldest son Wuji, Li Zhi was made crown prince. Li Zhi's personality is relatively benevolent, and Li Shimin is also aware of this, so he doubts whether he can take on great responsibilities. He also felt that Li Ke was very similar to him, so he thought about it and still wanted to make Li Ke the prince.

He once again found the eldest grandson Wuji to discuss this matter, and he was wise and ignorant for a while. If the eldest grandson wanted to continue the scenery, all he needed was a benevolent monarch, and later facts proved this. If it were not for Wu Zetian, I am afraid that with Li Zhi's character, the eldest grandson Wujie would have lived in the scenery and grow old. More importantly, Li Zhi was born to Empress Eldest Sun, equivalent to his uncle, and Li Ke was not related to him by blood. It was still a princess from the former dynasty, who had entanglements with the Guanlong nobles, and it was even more impossible for the eldest son Wuji to choose Li Ke.

When Li Shimin said that he wanted to establish Li Ke, the eldest son Wuji immediately vetoed it, of course, the reason given was that the position of the prince was important and could not be changed at will. Only then did Li Shimin dispel his thoughts, and in order to appease his son, he also admonished Li Ke not to be crazy. To put it bluntly, it is hoped that Li Ke will not covet Li Zhi's throne and will not repeat the tragedy of human morality in the Xuanwu Gate. The history books record that he said this: Either Emperor Wu of Han collapsed, Emperor Zhao's heirs were established, The King of Yan Dansu was arrogant and indulgent, and He zhang was disobedient, and Huo Guang sent a fold to a simple rebuke, then he died and the country was destroyed. Husbands and courtiers had to be cautious.

Li Shimin thought that Li Ke was divided, and Li Zhiren was weak, so he could save all his sons. As everyone knows, from the time he said that Wu Wang Keying was like me, but he did not establish Li Ke, he was doomed to li Ke's ending not being very good. In Li Shimin's mouth, these words were a source of pride for his son's wen and martial arts, and in the ears of the eldest grandson Wujie, it was a bomb. Will he be as iron-blooded as he is? If Li Ke seized power, would the Eldest Sun Family still have a good way out?

As a result, Li Ke was safe and kept to himself, but the eldest grandson was unscrupulous but did everything to frame him. The best opportunity came in the fourth year of Yonghui (653), when Princess Gaoyang and Princess Dowager Fang intended to stage a coup d'état and install Li Yuanjing (the sixth son of Emperor Gaozu and the sixth brother of Emperor Taizong) as emperor. The matter was leaked, a cadre of people and others were arrested, and Gao Zong sent His Grandson Wuji to try the case. The eldest grandson Wuji took this opportunity to instruct Fang Wei'ai to frame Li Ke for plotting rebellion, and Li Ke, who was unlucky enough to urge him, came up to heaven in a pot at home.

Li Zhi originally wanted to let his uncle and brother die, but the eldest son Wuji faction did not agree, so he had to put a cadre to death. On the second day of February in the fourth year of Yonghui, the 34-year-old Li Ke was hanged in the forbidden area of Chang'an Palace, and before he died, he angrily scolded the eldest son Wujie: The eldest son Wujie stole authority, harmed the good, and the clan had a spirit, and the clan was soon destroyed! This means that if the ancestral temple had a spirit, his family was not far from being destroyed, and later the eldest son Wuji family was destroyed in the hands of Wu Zetian.

Speaking back to Li Ke, in fact, his death was inevitable, if Li Shimin had chosen him in the first place. Then he is the Ming Lord, and on the contrary, he is what Li Shimin called Yan Wangdan. His intelligence and ability like Li Shimin are a threat, and the origin of his mother, Concubine Yang, is also a threat, so as long as he is not made heir, it is a dead end. I don't know if before he died, remembering his father's words of admonishing him not to be crazy, would he feel that this was the sadness of being born in the imperial family?
