Qian Qi - listening to poetry on the night of the moon, I was fortunate to get a high name in the exam

Qian Qi, a famous poet at the turn of Sheng and the Middle Tang Dynasty. Because of the outstanding achievements of his poetry, people have the praise of "shen and song in the front, and rich and lang in the back". But Qian was very unhappy when he heard it, and actually sneered: "How can Lang Shiyuan be compared with me?" At the same time, some people put money on a par with Liu Changqing, and commentators since then have felt that qian's level is far inferior to Liu Changqing's.

But in any case, the level of Qian Qi's poetry cannot be ignored. Although he had to serve Li Duan on the seat of Guo Huan, he also won the laurel of the poetry meeting in one fell swoop because of his poetry in the full seat of Jianghuai poets.

Qian Qi was extremely intelligent since he was a child, and he was already very much appreciated when he was still in the township. Once, he went with someone to Jingkou (present-day Zhenjiang, Jiangsu) and stayed in a hotel; bored, he took advantage of the bright moonlight to go out for a walk. Suddenly, the distant chanting sound of the outdoors slowly came over, and Qian Qi, who usually likes to chant poetry, listened carefully to it unconsciously. Somehow, the man repeatedly recited two sentences of the same phrase:

Qu finally disappeared, and several peaks on the river were green... Qu finally disappeared, and several peaks on the river were green...

So Qian got up and opened the door and slowly paced out to see who was chanting. When the door opened, there was no one there! Qian Qi was deeply surprised, and with his strong memory, he remembered this verse at once, but he didn't take it too seriously in his heart.

In the tenth year of Xuanzong Tianbao (751), Qian Qi took the "Fan Min" examination, which was the "Xiangling Drum Ser", and asked to write a five-word poem. He knew that this title came from the sentence in Qu Yuan's Chu Ci Yuan's "Chu Ci Yuanyou", "Make the Xiangling drums and make the sea dance Feng Yi". Because of his special familiarity with the Chu Ci, he was naturally very happy; but when he really conceived the writing, he could not finish the manuscript for a long time. While hesitating, Qian Qi suddenly remembered that the rhyme foot of the outdoor chanting that night also belonged to the "Nine Qing" department? And wouldn't it be seamless to use the poem at the end of one's own poem? Thinking of this, he quickly wrote the whole article and handed in the papers in advance.

Li Wei, who was the chief examiner at the time, took the examination paper in front of him and repeatedly examined it:

Good drum cloud and Ser, often heard of the emperor's spirit.

Feng Yikong danced by himself, and Chu Ke was unbearable.

Bitter tune miserable golden stone, clear sound into the meditation.

Cang Wu came to complain, and Bai Zhi moved Fangxin.

The flowing water spread to Xiangpu, and the sad wind passed through the cave court.

Qu finally disappeared, and several peaks on the river were green!

Examiner Li repeatedly shook his head and chanted softly, he was completely conquered by this beautiful mood in the poem; even later, when he rested in the test room, he repeatedly admired it and exclaimed: "Such a wonderful and ethereal ending sentence can only be written with the help of gods and creatures!" Therefore, Li Wei put Qian Qi in gaodi; it was not long before Qian Qi was awarded the position of school secretary. Since then, his poems have also been strongly praised by the great poet Wang Wei, saying that Qian's poems are quite "high-grade".

As for the image of "Xiangling Drums" used by later famous poets such as Su Dongpo, Qin Shaoyou and others, there were almost no people who did not take this poem as a model, but they actually forgot its earlier source, "Chu Ci"! Because the meaning of those sentences of later people has a lot to do with the ethereal meaning of "Qu finally disappears, and there are several peaks on the river", rather than the imagery in "Chu Ci Long Journey". And this, can not but be said to be a rather peculiar phenomenon of cultural inheritance.
