Who is this peasant woman? Why was he received by Chiang Kai-shek?
Although Chiang Kai-shek has not stopped for many years, it has constantly triggered civil wars. But he also had many famous anti-Japanese generals under his command, and Xie Jinyuan was one of them. He has the reputation of one of the three heroes of the Anti-Japanese Resistance, and has been determined to defend the country since he was a child. When he grew up, Xie Jinyuan participated in the Northern Expedition and led four hundred soldiers to defend the Sixing Warehouse, and he was not afraid in the face of enemy fire, however, it was such a person who eventually died at the hands of his subordinates. Chiang Kai-shek posthumously promoted him to major general in the army, but when his wife Ling Weicheng asked Chiang Kai-shek for help, he was turned away.
Ling Weicheng originally lived in a wealthy well-off family, there are three sisters in the family, Ling Weicheng ranked second, in the city of Shanghai, her parents still made some money through business, Ling Weicheng also got a good education, she graduated from the music major, knows a variety of musical instruments, is a girl full of artistic cells. She is dressed in a stylish outfit, a cheongsam with high heels and earring jewelry, making this Shanghai girl look more delicate. If he hadn't married Xie Jinyuan, perhaps Ling Weicheng's life would have been completely different. However, stubbornly, she still chose this heroic man.
In 1927, Xie Jinyuan and Ling Weicheng met at a wedding venue, and they served as the best man and bridesmaid of the wedding, respectively, and after the wedding, the two continued to maintain contact, but did not make further progress. Later, Xie Jinyuan was injured and hospitalized in the war, Ling Weicheng heard about it, visited the hospital many times to take care of it, and the relationship between the two began to heat up rapidly, and finally decided to be together for a lifetime. However, everything did not go so smoothly, Ling Weicheng's parents first stood up against it, after all, in the war years, no one wanted their daughter to marry the soldier, the future was too unknown, and life was too unstable. However, a seemingly petite and obedient woman is very stubborn. Therefore, in 1929, Ling Weicheng ignored the opposition of his family and held a wedding with Xie Jinyuan. Ling Weicheng was full of expectations for a beautiful married life, and perhaps she was also ready for the hardships she would face as the general's wife, but she did not expect that her premarital and post-marital life would be so contrasting.
Before marriage, she was a carefree girl, thinking about music every day, after marriage, Xie Jinyuan was often caught in the fire of war, and she was worried every day. After seven years of such a day, Ling Weicheng also gave birth to three children for Xie Jinyuan.
In 1936, Ling Weicheng became pregnant with her fourth child, and at the same time, the Japanese artillery had arrived in Shanghai that year, and Xie Jinyuan finally decided to send his pregnant wife to his hometown in Guangzhou after much thought. The first is to ensure the safety of his wife and children, and the other is to take care of his elderly parents for him. In this regard, Ling Weicheng's family once again voted against it, they were not willing to let their daughter suffer in the countryside, even if Xie Jinyuan went to the battlefield, the mother's family could take care of her. However, at this moment, Ling Weicheng still chose to stand on the side of her husband and resolutely chose to return to the countryside.
And the suffering of life has only just begun. The first problem Ling Weicheng faced was farm work, a Shanghai lady who couldn't even do housework since she was a child, but now she needed to pick up a hoe, carry a basket on her back, and work in the field.
On the other hand, the husband is not happy. The Kuomintang troops fought against Japan for two months, and seeing that Japan was getting tighter and tighter, Chiang Kai-shek gave the order to retreat. Xie Jinyuan, on the other hand, was responsible for the task of breaking the rear. Therefore, Xie Jinyuan led the 524th Regiment, which had more than 400 people, to stick to the Sihang warehouse. He always adhered to a belief, guarding the Sihang warehouse with his life and stopping the advance of the Japanese army. Near the Sihang warehouse is the British concession, the Japanese army does not dare to use large weapons, after all, the British army was injured, perhaps the battle will become tainted, at least, the Japanese army's current target is only China. The British, seeing that the flames of war were nearby, feared that they would be affected. He also repeatedly dissuaded Xie Jinyuan from withdrawing his troops. However, Xie Jinyuan held on. In this regard, the British army was very helpless, so the British army directly sent a telegram to Chiang Kai-shek, asking him to order the withdrawal of troops, and Chiang Kai-shek, who has always admired the foreign country, did not hesitate to agree.
Xie Jinyuan was very surprised and unwilling to receive the news of the withdrawal, however, the military order could not be violated. Xie Jinyuan had to compromise, and just as Xie Jinyuan withdrew, the British wanted to seize their weapons, and in the face of such unreasonable demands, Xie Jinyuan refused to obey, but Chiang Kai-shek again sent an order to cooperate with the British. Xie Jinyuan reluctantly laid down his weapon. However, this release has put them in a greater predicament. Instead of helping them retreat, the British detained all the soldiers.
Xie Jinyuan, including the May 24th Army led by him, was all locked up in the lone army camp, they had no freedom, even so, Xie Jinyuan still insisted on leading the army to exercise early and raise the national flag every day. In 1940, the traitor Wang Jingwei repeatedly sent people to tempt Xie Jinyuan with military rank and power to make him surrender to him. In this regard, Xie Jinyuan resolutely rejected him and angrily rebuked his traitorous behavior. Seeing this situation, Wang Jingwei knew that it was useless to spend any more time. Therefore, he had to use a trick to bribe four people in Xie Jinyuan's military camp, these four traitors deliberately arrived late during the morning exercise, and then Xie Jinyuan asked why, and the four traitors stabbed him alive with a knife. Xie Jinyuan probably wouldn't have thought of his fate, not dying on the battlefield, but at the hands of his own subordinates.

Ling Weicheng, who was doing farm work, received the news of her husband's death, and she almost collapsed and couldn't believe it. For so many years, she has been holding on to this poor and remote countryside, and it is precisely because she has the love and longing for her husband, she is waiting for his victory to return to pick her up, but she waits for the news of his death. This completely shattered her beliefs. Several times she felt like she couldn't hold on. But looking at the young child, she still endured all the grief, and she knew that she still had unfulfilled responsibilities. So, in the autumn of that year, at the invitation of Chiang Kai-shek, she climbed mountains and waded through the waters from Guangdong to Chongqing, and as Ling Weicheng's wife, she received a pension of 50,000 yuan. At the same time, Ling Weicheng hoped that Chiang Kai-shek could help solve the problem of his children's schooling, but Chiang Kai-shek hastily refused on the grounds that the country was difficult in war. Ling Weicheng did not say anything more, after she returned to the countryside of Guangzhou, she gave half of the pension to her father-in-law for the elderly, and the other half bought a few acres of land, relying on these acres of land to continue to support her family and send her children to school.
In August 1945, after the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Ling Weicheng could finally return to Shanghai. After taking care of her hometown, she sold all the fields, and in 1946 she bid farewell to her hometown in Guangzhou and began to return home. However, what she did not expect was that the way home was not smooth, and at this time, she did not even have enough money to go back. Fortunately, after everyone heard that she was Xie Jinyuan's wife, they took great care of her, and there were people to help her along the way. In this way, after a month's journey, she finally returned to Shanghai smoothly. On the same day, a newspaper newspaper published a newspaper on this, and the group of May 24 lone soldiers led by Xie Jinyuan came to visit. And took Ling Weicheng to Xie Jinyuan's tomb.
Ten years apart, now separated by yin and yang, Ling Weicheng finally couldn't help but cry bitterly, for ten years, she did farm work in the countryside that she had never done before, she did not cry out that she was tired; for ten years, she took care of her elderly in-laws and young children alone, and she never complained about the world. Even though she was physically and mentally exhausted, she never shed tears in front of people. The experience of life has long forgotten that she is also a small woman, and she finally can't hold on to the moment she sees her husband's tombstone. Ten years of longing turned into tears, and the four children had never seen their mother like this, and they were all sad. After being sad, life goes on. In a few days in Shanghai, Ling Weicheng learned about the plight of these lone soldiers, most of them did not have stable jobs, basic life could not be guaranteed, these were once anti-Japanese heroes, but now they fell to such a point, Ling Weicheng was very sad, she decided to help these lone soldiers. However, it was too difficult to rely on herself to be a female stream, so she personally went to Nanjing to meet Chiang Kai-shek, who had thought that this time, Chiang Kai-shek did not want to see her. Ling Weicheng may also understand. She had to go back and do her best to help them beg for food.
Until the liberation of Shanghai in 1949, Ling Weicheng was worried, she wrote a letter of relief to Chen Yi, the mayor at the time, hoping to take more care of these orphans, After Mayor Chen Yi got this incident, not only settled these orphans, but also gave More subsidies to Ling Weicheng, And Ling Weicheng's life gradually improved.
However, wave after wave has not stopped. In 1966, the life of Ling Weicheng's family fell into difficulty. At the same time, the eldest son's spirit also had some problems, the family's savings were spent almost all, and finally in 1970, the eldest son passed away. Widows at an early age, children in old age, perhaps, the most desperate thing is nothing more than that.
The only consolation is that both daughters and young sons are successful in their studies and have a successful career. In January 1991, Ling Weicheng also passed away with peace of mind, and her last wish was to be buried with her husband, and they were finally reunited.
Looking back on Ling Weicheng's life, from a miss Qianjin who had no worries about food and clothing, to a rural peasant woman who worked all day, her life was difficult and bumpy, but she never gave up trying to live, nothing more than because of a "love" word.
