In the battle, Xie Jinyuan led a platoon of men and horses, and after three days of fierce fighting on the eve of three days in the Battle of Yongdingcheng, he successfully annihilated 4500 enemy troops, so he was promoted to second lieutenant company commander.
In 1936, the Japanese army launched the Battle of Songhu. As the chief of staff of the 262nd Brigade of the 88th Division, Xie Jinyuan once again returned to Shanghai to join the battle, and through the two battle plans proposed by Xie Jinyuan, "Izumo Destruction Plan" and "Iron Fist Plan", our army successfully gave the enemy a heavy blow, and the prestige of the 88th Division also left an indelible impression on the hearts of the Japanese army. Until the 30th, the defenders received orders to retreat to the British Concession, because the Japanese army was afraid of international disputes caused by cross-border relations, so they could only order the encirclement of this place. Under the constant pressure of the Japanese army, the British troops in the concession confiscated the weapons of Xie Jinyuan and others, detained them in the open space at the intersection of Jiaozhou Road and Singapore, and sent people to guard them for a long time. However, Xie Jinyuan was not afraid of death at all, and still led his troops to go out of the morning exercise normally, while at the same time engaging in a mental confrontation with the Japanese army here. In the face of the enemy's threats and inducements, Xie Jinyuan paid no attention to them and wrote a diary to review his combat career, and soon the "lone army camp" became the spiritual fortress of the national War of Resistance Against Japan.
But what is unbelievable is that in the early morning of April 1941, Xie Jinyuan, who led the troops to go out of the morning exercise normally, found that Hao Dingcheng, Long Yaoliang, Zhang Wenqing, Zhang Guoshun and four other soldiers were late for the exercise, so he went forward to inquire about the situation. Who knew that these four people had long been bribed by the enemy army, took out the murder weapon and began to stab, Xie Jinyuan was injured in many places in the chest and left temple, and finally died heroically due to ineffective treatment, when he was only 37 years old. On May 8, the central government ordered Xie Jinyuan to be awarded the rank of major general of infantry in the army as a sign of respect for the hero.
