On September 6, the 2021 Global Green Development Summit Forum hosted by the Sichuan University Global Green Development Alliance, the United Front Work Department of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Chongqing University was held in Chengdu, Sichuan, the beautiful country of Tianfu. As one of the organizers of the event, Liang Bin, Vice President of Sichuan University, introduced the research of Sichuan University in promoting low-carbon sustainable development over the years. "Sichuan University is a high-level research-oriented comprehensive university in the western part of the country, and it is also one of the universities with the earliest, largest and most complete disciplines in China's educational history, we have the responsibility and obligation to promote low-carbon sustainable development, and we have always attached importance to the research of green, low-carbon and new energy."
Liang Bin said that in 2003, Sichuan University took the lead in establishing the Institute of New Energy and Low Carbon, and conducted long-term research on new energy substitution, carbon dioxide capture and mineralization utilization, carbon dioxide chemical conversion, etc., and made contributions to promoting the development of low-carbon technology in China. At present, in the context of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, the school has gathered more disciplinary forces, concentrated experts in the fields of chemistry, chemical engineering, electrical, materials, environment, economy and other disciplines of our university, and are stepping up to promote the construction of a carbon neutral research platform of Sichuan University, which is an important part of the construction of a first-class university in sichuan, and also an important supporting force for the Tianfu Carbon Neutral Laboratory in Sichuan Province, and strives to contribute to the cause of carbon neutrality in Sichuan.
It is worth mentioning that this forum is one of the important series of activities of the 19th Western China Overseas High-tech Talents Fair in 2021, and it is also one of the series of academic activities for the 125th anniversary of Sichuan University.
