Adisseo started construction of a new Nanjing liquid methionine plant

On March 23, Adisseo held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new liquid methionine plant in Nanjing. The new plant will have a total investment of approximately USD 490 million and a designed annual production capacity of 180,000 tons. The new plant is expected to be operational in mid-2021. With the completion of the new plant, Adisseo's total production capacity of its production platform in Nanjing will double.

According to the Shanghai Securities News, the new plant is located in The Liuhe Chemical Park in Jiangbei New District, Nanjing, adjacent to Adisseo's existing Nanjing plant, and will share the operation and management team with the existing Nanjing plant and share some facilities, so as to make full use of the construction and operation experience of the existing Nanjing plant, reduce capital expenditure and operating expenses, maximize synergy benefits, and further strengthen Adisseo's competitive advantage with its continuous innovation ability.

The new capacity at the new Nanjing plant will help Adisseo meet increasing customer demand and strengthen its leadership position in the methionine industry, the company said. From 2014 to 2017, the average growth rate of liquid methionine sales in Adisseo was maintained at double-digit levels, and the penetration rate of liquid methionine is expected to continue to increase to about 50% in the future.
