Qi Gong was very discouraged, feeling that his teaching ability was better than other teachers, and he worked hard, and the students he taught were also very good, why was he blocked out of the school because he did not have a piece of paper.
Little did he know that good luck awaited him.

Why did Chen Yuan, an educator known for his rigorous approach to learning, make such a "hasty" decision?
It's not sloppy. Because the self-taught Chen Yuan pays more attention to a person's actual ability, he understands Qi Gong and believes that Qi Gong can become an excellent university teacher.
Qi Gong was born in a declining family in the Qing Dynasty, although he had good academic performance in middle school, but due to his family's difficulties, he had to drop out of school and go home, he taught in private schools, and has been teaching classical poetry on his own, writing unremittingly.
In 1933, Mr. Fu Zengxiang, a hereditary friend of the Qi Gong family, took Qi Gong's homework to see Chen Yuan, with the intention of finding some opportunities for the sloppy Qi Gong to make a living. After Chen Yuan read it carefully, he thought that Qi Gong's articles and calligraphy were very good, and promised to meet them immediately.
After the meeting, Chen Yuan inquired in detail about Qi Gong, especially the experience of teaching private schools.
Soon after, Qi Gong was introduced by Chen Yuan to teach the "Chinese Language" of the first class at the Affiliated Middle School of Fu Jen University.
At this time, he was not very at ease with Qi Gong, so he tirelessly told his teaching experience and earnestly admonished Qi Gong:
First, teaching a class of middle school students is different from teaching a few children in a private school house, and a person standing on a podium must have a look. Faces are opposites, but feelings cannot be opposed. Second, there must be no favoritism or partiality, and no ridicule of students. Third, encourage and praise. Bad students, including naughty or bad grades, should try their best to find them a little benefit and praise them. Fourth, don't lose your temper. If you send it once, even if it works, how can you lose your temper when something worse happens later? If it is ineffective after losing your temper, what happens? You are still young, but you are a teacher on the podium, and you want to gain the admiration of your students. Fifth, to teach a lesson book, you must prepare all aspects of this lesson, and imagine what students will ask. Sixth, mark and correct the composition, do not change more, more changes are better than you write one for him. If they change more, they will not look at it, and they must change the important key points. Seventh, there must be a teaching diary. You and your students have certain strengths and weaknesses, write them down, including the questions in the essay, and write them down for comparison. Eighth, when sending essays, give examples. Shortcomings should be discussed individually in the hall; those who have been corrected and made progress should try their best to praise them in the hall. Nine, to clear the classroom air, you always sit on the stage, students always listen under the stage, becoming a set. Students yawn, or copy other people's homework, or read novels, and how hard you talk is in vain. Not only should the composition class be walked between the rows of students' seats, but when lecturing, after writing the board book, you can also get off the stage to see. Not only look back to see how effective your board book is, but also see if the students will remember it. Qi Gong listened to the teachings and taught seriously. In this process, Chen Yuan continued to communicate with Qi Gong continuously to learn about the progress of Qi Gong's work. He also learned about the situation from other teachers and students, and even went to listen to the lectures in person to judge the teaching effect of Qi Gong. In the end, he came to the conclusion that Qi Gong had become an excellent middle school teacher!
At the same time, Chen Yuan consciously compared Qi Gong with some university teachers, believing that Qi Gong was not inferior in knowledge, and in teaching, Qi Gong was deeply rooted in his own true transmission, and there were many merits.
Chen Yuan was already a highly respected academic master and school principal for many years, but he always insisted on teaching himself. "Pay attention to the basic skill of students - reading and writing. Not only did he teach professional courses in the history departments of various universities, but he also taught Chinese to first-year university students in Furen as an old principal at the age of 60 or 70, and explained the papers very carefully. In his later years, Qi Gong once recalled: "Teacher Chen has always not only personally inquired about the 'Chinese language' classes in each class, but always teaches one class every year. The textbooks of each class are unified, and the works to choose, which ones to choose for what, what points to talk about in which articles, and what aspects of education to be received by the students through this article are carefully considered and explained to the person in charge. At the end of the school year, the first-grade 'Chinese Language' class of the whole school is always 'tested', and Mr. Chen will solve the questions and evaluate the scores uniformly. Now I understand that this is not only the examination of students, but also the examination of teachers. ......”
Practice is the only test of truth. If you still ask Chen Yuan at that time, would it be right to hire Qi Gong in an unusual way? We'll answer with certainty: very much right. Because, Qi Gong not only became an excellent teacher in the university, became a professor of virtue and art in the university, but also was recognized as a famous educator and a master of calligraphy and painting.
From this example, we should have some inspiration: diplomas and academic qualifications are important threshold standards, but once a one-size-fits-all approach is adopted, talents will be buried.
