On May 11, Hubei University held an appointment ceremony to appoint Professor Wang Wei, a member of the Faculty of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and chairman of the Chinese Archaeological Society, as a distinguished professor of Hubei University. Before the appointment ceremony, Wang Wei was a guest of the Lake Great Si Rui Forum and brought a special lecture on "Focusing on Sanxingdui and Exploring Shu Civilization" for the teachers and students of the school.

"It is not excluded that foreign civilization has had an impact on Sanxingdui culture"

"In 1929, when Yan Daocheng father and son took the soil, hundreds of jade artifacts were found, and the reputation of 'Guanghan Jade' rose to prominence, opening the prelude to the archaeology of Sanxingdui that lasted for more than 90 years." On the evening of May 10, the conference center of Hubei University was full, and more than 300 teachers and students listened to professor Wang Wei's story of excavation and exploration of the Sanxingdui site.

Starting from the discovery of the Sanxingdui site in Guanghan City, Sichuan Province in the 1920s and 1930s, Wang Wei introduced the excavation of Pits 1 and 2, as well as the archaeological excavations that have continued since then. He focused on the discovery and excavation of the six sacrificial pits. He said that the excavation of craters 3 to 8 in Sanxingdui has brought the archaeological community to another climax. These new archaeological discoveries are inseparable from the pioneering and innovative methodological concepts of archaeologists and the support provided by scientific and technological progress.

"Baodun Culture - Sanxingdui Culture - Jinsha Twelve Bridges Culture," Wang Wei combed the sequence of cultural development before the Spring and Autumn Period of the Chengdu Plain, compared the similarities and differences between the excavated artifacts of the Jinsha site and the Sanxingdui site, and analyzed the relationship between Sanxingdui and Jinsha from the aspects of distribution range, cultural connotation and age. In view of the relationship between the ancient Shu civilization represented by Sanxingdui and Jinsha and the Xia Shang Dynasty, he believes that the Sanxingdui culture received the influence of the Erlitou culture in the early days, and the late Sanxingdui culture and the Jinsha Twelve Bridges culture accepted the influence of the Shang Dynasty culture.

Sacrificial pit or artifact pit? What is the relationship between the people who live in Sanxingdui and Sands? Did the people at Sanxingdui and Sands use text? On several issues on which the Sanxingdui site has become a focus of contention, Wang Wei briefly expressed his views and said that these problems will not be resolved until the six pits currently excavated have been cleared and the multidisciplinary analysis of the excavations has been completed.

Is there an influence of extraterritorial civilizations in the Sanxingdui culture? Wang Wei believes that mutual learning between civilizations is the driving force for promoting the development of human civilization. At present, it cannot be excluded that the factors of foreign civilization have had an impact on the Sanxingdui culture, but to argue that there have been close exchanges between the cultures or civilizations between the two, it should be in line with the basic time, should not be hundreds of years or even longer, the distance between the two is close, if it is very far, should find the intermediate links and other conditions.

"The ancient Shu civilization, which was jointly composed of the Sanxingdui culture and the Jinsha And Twelve Bridges culture that flourished after it, is an important part of the pluralistic and integrated Chinese civilization and a very bright star in the starry sky of Chinese civilization." Wang Wei said.

At the lecture site, many primary school students were one of the audience members, "The objects unearthed at Sanxingdui have different shapes, and listening to Teacher Wang's on-site explanation, I have a magical feeling, like traveling back to ancient times to understand history." Li Ziyue, a second-grade primary school student, is a lover of Sanxingdui culture, and in 2020, his family accompanied him to Chengdu to learn about the history of Sanxingdui.

Zhang Jixi, a 2019 history (teacher training) major at Huda University, recorded a full page of notes at the scene, "Archaeology itself is part of history. Starting from the 'frontline' of archaeology, he taught the current hot topic Sanxingdui, which brought us a different perspective and stimulated my interest in learning archaeology. ”

"At present, Chinese archaeology ushers in an important period of development"

At the appointment ceremony on May 11, Wang Wei said: "At present, China's archaeology and cultural and cultural undertakings have ushered in an important period of development, but there is a relative shortage of professional talents. "He believes that Hubei University keeps pace with the times, responds to the needs of the times, establishes a cultural heritage college, cultivates cultural talents with feelings, specialties and retention, and serves related undertakings such as local cultural heritage protection, reflecting the mission and responsibility of local comprehensive universities to serve the society and contribute to the locality." As the Honorary Dean and Distinguished Professor of the School of Cultural Heritage of Hubei University, he will lead the team to teach and research, and at the same time devote himself to the cultivation of talents in the cultural and cultural undertakings and contribute to the local cultural undertakings. ”
