The brown-necked hornbills (scientific name: aceros nipalensis) are large birds with a body length of about 122 cm. The mouth is large and curved downwards, without helmet protrusions. The male has a yellow beak , a red throat sac , an orange-brown head , neck , and thorax , a chestnut belly , and a broad white tip on the outer primary flight feathers , half of which is completely white at the tip of the tail. The female has a black head , neck and lower body , and a pale bluish face with bare skin.
China is mainly distributed in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, and southeastern Tibet.
Resident birds. Nest in a tree hole. Often in pairs or more than 10 groups in small groups. It feeds mainly on fleshy wild fruits such as banyan fruit.
The breeding season is from April to June. It usually nests in natural tree holes in evergreen broad-leaved forests. 1 or 2 eggs are laid per clutch,
