Most colonies of hornbills feed in one location and do not change to a new location until they run out of food. They also often fly in groups, fishing back and forth one after the other. When flying, the speed is not fast, the posture is also very peculiar, the head and neck are very straight, the wings are flattened, after making several up and down agitations, they will move forward by gliding, and then agitate their wings a few times, and so on repeatedly, as if shaking. Because the underwing coverts fail to cover the base of the feathers, there is a loud noise between the feathers when flying.
