"The brown-necked hornbill is found in Yunnan and Tibet, and the well-documented images of Yunnan are images taken by photographers in Xishuangbanna in the mid-1980s." Han Lianxian, a professor at Southwest Forestry University, said, "In the early 1990s, we had records of villagers visiting Dehong, but there has been no video testimony, and the images taken this time fully prove that brown-necked hornbills are distributed in Yunnan." ”

The brown-necked hornbill is a protected animal at the national level and is listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Zeng Xiangle, chairman of the Yingjiang County Bird Watching Association, said that brown-necked hornbills usually live in cold mountainous areas above 1500 meters above sea level, and the next step of the association will further explore their distribution and breeding in Yingjiang County in order to better study and protect the species.
