Lanzhou QiuZhai big blood case,
11 people were killed, how was the shocking case solved?
The homicide occurred at midnight. It was the night of May 16, 1949. Lanzhou, No. 69 Zuogong East Road, is a large family, 11 people in the family, killed overnight, only an 11-year-old girl was spared due to illness.
Early the next morning, Chef No. 69 came to work with the vegetables he had bought. Who knows, but found that the doorman is missing, and the old lady who used to grow grass and raise flowers is also gone. The suspicious chef pushed open the door of the living room in the inner courtyard, and a flame burst out. The chef was horrified, could not take care of the vegetables, and panicked to report the case.
At about 8 a.m., the telephone of the criminal police brigade of the provincial capital police general bureau in Lanzhou rang rapidly, and Fan Zongxiang, the captain of the brigade, picked up the phone and heard that it was Guo Zhuang, the director of the bureau. Guo ordered him to take someone to the scene of the crime immediately.
At the scene, Fan Zongxiang found that this was the residence of Qiu Zongjun, the father-in-law of sheng shicai, the former governor of Xinjiang. He immediately felt the gravity of the situation. Although the area of the Qiu Mansion is relatively large, Qiu Zongjun and Qiu Dingkun are both high-ranking officials of the Kuomintang, and they are usually heavily guarded, so how could they suddenly catch fire?

Sheng Shicai and his family
After the firefighters put out the fire, the officers continued to investigate inside. Suddenly, with a scream, the corpse was found in the mess pile of the hall, and with the deepening of the investigation, a shocking case gradually surfaced. Eleven people living in the Qiu mansion were killed, some killed by shotguns, some stabbed to death by knives, and some killed by axes. Soon, a major case of extinction occurred in Lanzhou, and with the news reports spread to the four directions.
At this time, the desperate Chiang family dynasty was crumbling and about to collapse. This earth-shattering and bloody case has also become another earth-shattering case after the Six Corpses Case in Beiping and the Shanghai Box Corpse Case. Who exactly made this big case? What's the secret behind it?
Today, let us listen to Fan Xueliang tell the story of his father Fan Zongxiang's investigation of the Qiu Mansion's bloody case.
Fan Xueliang, son of Fan Zongxiang, the detective of the Qiu Zhai Bloody Case (then in 2013)
1. In the bloody case of the giants, Sheng Shicai's father-in-law's family was killed, and 200 police officers in the provincial city participated in the investigation
Such a large bloody case naturally attracts the attention of all sides. The "Qiu Case Solving Committee", which covers all departments of the police station, was quickly established, and manpower support was transferred from other departments, and a total of 200 police officers participated in the investigation of the case.
The pressure on the police is very high. Every morning at eight o'clock, the participating departments gather at the police station to discuss the case and deploy the day's tasks. At ninety o'clock in the evening, we gathered again for a meeting to analyze the harvest of the day. Preliminary analysis shows that the participants were not alone, but gangs who knew how to use firearms. Therefore, the police station also specially transferred 15 young men with high martial arts and good marksmanship from the criminal police team to form a "special high group" to prepare for trouble.
The first is to pay close attention to the places where people come and go from the hostels and tea gardens, supervise the post and telegraph, set up cards at various intersections, and investigate the relationship between Qiu Zhai, especially Qi Yutian, the adjutant of Qiu Zhai, who mysteriously disappeared, which is the key target of the investigation.
The media coverage of the case at the time
In fact, the occurrence of the QiuZhai Bloody Case is closely related to Sheng Shicai's brutal rule in Xinjiang. Sheng Shicai ruled Xinjiang for ten years, and as many as 100,000 people were victimized. After Sheng Shicai was transferred to the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry in 1944, the people of Xinjiang raised their hands and raised their heads to celebrate. The Sheng Shicai and Qiu Zongjun families own more than 70 cars, purchase US dollars of public debt of 2 million US dollars, and all kinds of treasures, gold and diamonds are difficult to count. When Sheng Shicai left, he was still extorting money in Xinjiang. At that time, a folk song said that sheng thief shicai was honest, eighty cars were not pulled, three planes did not count, and two thousand camels were behind. Is there a connection between these two people and this bloody case?
However, the first problem facing people is the handling of the aftermath of the victims. The victims were buried first, and the coffins were temporarily placed in the "East Three Provinces Righteous Garden". Then, the property was inventoried and more than 30 boxes were packed. However, people found that there were very few gold and silver jewelry, mostly clothes, cars, cameras, leather clothes, phonographs, gold-wrapped mahjong and other things. Valuable is a sword with gems set on it. There are also shares of Jincheng Flour Mill, which is only 12 shares, each share of 10 million yuan, which sounds quite a lot, which is actually equivalent to one or two gold. So where did the money they looted from Xinjiang go?
After the bloody incident, the neighbors rumored to each other that there was a basement in the Qiu mansion and a large amount of gold and silver treasures, but the police searched carefully and did not find the basement. However, there are still some mysteries.
The case-handling personnel accidentally found a large string of keys, about 100 of them, what are so many keys used for?
The investigation and the aftermath are carried out simultaneously. The provincial government also ordered a reward for solving the case: "If you know where his name is hidden, secretly report to the bureau and solve the case, a reward of 500 yuan will be awarded." ”
2. Antelope horn, Zhang carpenter, the clue to solve the case is prominent
More than twenty days have passed, and the investigation has not made much progress. At the time of the crime, the order was limited to one week to solve the case, and a week passed, the case was not solved, Guo Zhuang could only ask for punishment, and the provincial government said that it would be limited to another ten days. The case could not be solved on time, the pressure on the police was increasing, but the people of Lanzhou were talking about it, and the people in society were floating.
At that time, the media reported that Guo Zhuang had asked for punishment
The pressure they have endured during this period of time can be imagined. Even Ma Bufang's secretary general personally consulted him, because Ma Bufang's mansion was near the Qiu Residence. A full month after the crime, there was finally a glimmer of light.
On June 16, Volunteer Intelligence Officer Wang Yongjie ran to say that there was a layman who sneakily sold antelope horns. Hearing this, people's spirits were lifted. Because among the relics of the Qiu mansion is antelope horn. The informant and the man agreed to trade at a gold shop on Zhonghua Road. So disguised as a businessman came to the gold shop, and other police officers ambushed inside and outside the store. Naturally, the suspect was easily captured.
It turned out that this man was commissioned by a carpenter surnamed Zhang on Meadow Street to sell antelope horns. Soon the police officer was at the carpenter's house and seized forty or fifty-two antelope horns. At that time, one or two antelope horns were equivalent to one or two gold. How could a carpenter have so many antelope horns? Then the victim's jewelry and other belongings were found. This carpenter became an important clue to the case. Zhang Carpenter confessed that he was in charge of the matter of Watching the Wind at the Qiu Mansion at the time of the crime, and that he had been to the scene of the murder, and the belongings were brought back at the scene. But when asked where the others were, Zhang said he didn't know. A telegram was later found from his house. The telegram was paid for "mountain", and when this man went to a certain hotel in Zhangye, he particularly stressed that the stored goods must not be moved.
Wang Dexiang, the instructor of the criminal police team, led people to Zhangye overnight, and together with the local police, inspected the hotel overnight, but found nothing, and had no choice but to rush to Jiuquan, but there was no gain. He could only return to Zhangye, disguise himself as a vendor, and patrol around. In the end, he found a person named Shan, who was Liu Yushan.
At this time, Liu Yushan had only been married for half a month. At the Zhangye Police Station, Liu Yushan provided some very valuable materials. Subsequently, Sun Lixun, Chen Yongchun, Guan Zizhang, Wang Xiangren and others were captured in Lanzhou. At the same time, a batch of stolen goods was recovered. In this way, the whole case is roughly outlined. The planner was Jiang Deyu, the former commander of the Xinjiang Cavalry Division (the news report of the year was written as "Jade").
At that time, the media reported on Jiang Deyu
In the whole operation, the arrest of Chen Yongchun was the most thrilling. Chen graduated from the third phase of the Xinjiang Military Academy. When he heard that Wang Hongzao (Qiu Dingkun's brother-in-law) had come to Lanzhou to deal with the affairs of the Qiu family, he specifically sought out Wang to inquire about the case. Who knew that Chen looked flustered, missed the horse's foot, and was seen by the king as a flaw. Before chen was arrested, Fan Zongxiang thought there was only one person. Who knew that when they arrived at the Chen family, Sun Lixun was actually there, and Sun found the police officer through the window. Sun immediately ran to the kitchen, and the police officer was quick in his eyes, and flew up to follow, throwing Sun down. At the same time, other police officers captured Chen Yongchun. Next, four loaded pistols and a consignment of stolen goods were found.
At this time, it was left to hunt down Jiang Deyu. Fan Zongxiang led people to the mansion of Jiang Deyu in Shengli New Village. Who knows, Jiang Deyu took the concubine away and flew away, leaving only the sick chaff wife. In the face of this result, it is natural to be half-convinced, but the search also found nothing. What to do? Fan Zongxiang was helplessly wandering around the mansion, when suddenly he found a half-burned envelope with the words Zhuoni Security Command. At this time, Jiang's wife confirmed that Jiang's concubine was a Zhuoni.
After several analyses, Fan Zongxiang believed that Jiang Deyu might be in Zhuoni Boyu. They sent a telegram to the Joni Security Command. However, he was surprised to learn that Commander Yang of Zhuoni was in Lanzhou. Through Guo Jiyao, chairman of the provincial government, he ordered Commander Yang to arrest Jiang Deyu. Commander Yang returned to Zhuo ni early the next morning, arrested Jiang Deyu with lightning speed, and then captured Liu Zili (reportedly written as "Li"), and the two were subsequently escorted back to Lanzhou.
At this point, the investigation of the Qiu Zhai bloody case was basically over, although five people had not yet been arrested, and the Officials of the Kuomintang at all levels had no time to take care of themselves. The case can only be hastily closed with the phrase "the main criminal is a large tribal network, and the whereabouts of the remaining criminals are unknown."

3. Committing murder, only to avenge snow and hatred, although the case is solved, it leaves doubts
On the night that Jiang Deyu was escorted to Lanzhou, a reporter interviewed the two.
Jiang Deyu said: "Now let everyone laugh at me." Liu Zili said passionately that revenge would mean cutting down the grass and rooting out the roots, listing the Qiu family members he had killed one by one.
Speaking of the causes, as mentioned earlier, most of the participants were Sheng Shicai's compatriots and subordinates, and they followed Ma Zhanshan and others to participate in the Northeast Anti-Japanese Organization, and later transferred from the Soviet Union to Xinjiang, where they were incorporated by Sheng Shicai, who made great efforts to rule Xinjiang, and later Sheng Shicai killed some of their relatives and friends in order to exclude dissidents. Liu Zili's younger brother's family and friends were killed by Sheng. Liu Yushan's father was strangled alive by Sheng Shicai.
At this point, the case has come to light. Later, Jiang Deyu and Liu Zili were sentenced to death, they were tortured in a heavy rain, and the others were sentenced to imprisonment. However, the Kuomintang authorities did not say a word about their revenge on them. After liberation, after the others were examined by the people's government, they were released through amnesty.
By the end of 1949, Lanzhou had been liberated for several months. Two uninvited guests broke into Fan Zongxiang's house. They were Chen Yongchun and Sun Lixun. The whole family was shocked, thinking that they had come to take revenge. Who knows, they are here to thank you. Because Fan Zongxiang paid attention to them in solving the case. They waited for Fan Zongxiang to meet him before leaving.
Fan Zongxiang's eightieth birthday party
This case also has a tail, and Qi Yutian, an aide-de-camp of the Qiu Mansion, mysteriously disappeared after the incident.
It is said that the Qiu family has a bag of diamonds, which is packed in Qiu Dingkun's wife's bag, claiming that all the qiu family's property is here. With the disappearance of Qi Yutian, the whereabouts of this bag of diamonds are also unknown, and people still do not know the end of Qi Yutian.
This is an unfinished ending.
