Xu Guangyao, the father of "Little Soldier Zhang Ga", and Xiao Yin's lifelong teacher-student relationship

In April 1947, Xiao Yin was transferred from his position as editor-in-chief of the jizhong herald supplement to teach at the College of Letters of the North China United University, teaching "Creation Methodology". Here, Xiao Yin spent more than a year of teacher-student life with Xu Guangyao, who later grew up to be a famous writer in Hebei and the father of "Little Soldier Zhang Ga", and formed a deep friendship.

In the article "Xu Guangyao at the North China United Congress", the writer Wen Zhang has the following description of Xu Guangyao's teacher-student relationship with Xiao Yin at the North China United University:
Xu Guangyao's first novel after entering school, "Zhou Yuzhang", is written about the transformation of backward warriors. This was The first fictional story of Xu Guangyao, strictly speaking, and the beginning of Xu Guangyao's true literary creation, which he voted for the Jizhong Herald. Xiao Yin, the editor of the Jizhong Herald, compiled and distributed the novel and added the following words: "After reading it with a very happy mood, although it is not a successful work, it is indeed a better manuscript for the supplement." It is not the accumulation of trivia, not the photograph of life, but the image and character. ”
Unexpectedly, the "Jizhong Herald" was still uploaded in the hands of students, and Xiao Yin was transferred to the United Nations University to teach "Creative Methodology" in the Department of Literature. At this time, at the beginning of the second semester, Xu Guangyao was selected as the leader of a group and was also selected as the representative of the "Creative Methodology". Because it is a transfer class, many classes are listened to from half cut, coupled with poor cultural foundation, there are not enough books, so the lectures come and go in the clouds. The unique Xiao Yin's lessons are listened to from scratch, coupled with his gentle elegance, each lesson is refreshing.
As a class representative, you must take good notes, so Xu Guangyao listens carefully to the lecture, does not squint, and does not dare to have a half-point difference pool. His notes were indeed remembered well, and every time he had to show Xiao Yin the class notes and the reflections of his classmates, Xiao Yin praised them. He also summoned Xu Guangyao to the door many times to chat, the teacher and the student sat facing each other, Xiao Yin spoke wittily, the sky was south and the sea, and once he talked for nearly two hours. Xu Guangyao seemed to be melted by The Passion of Teacher Xiao Yin, and he looked at the teacher and smiled heartlessly, smiling so hard that his cheeks froze. Each time he also lent some of his books to Xu Guangyao.
In fact, Xiao Yin was equally enthusiastic about every student, but Xu Guangyao felt that Xiao Yin had given him more.
The school decided to graduate two months earlier, and When he first heard the news, Xu Guangyao was shocked. Teacher Xiao Yin always looked at Xu Guangyao with a smile and groaned, and from the eager gaze of the other party, he saw the positive and uplifting spirit of the students. It was this indispensable sentence that made Xu Guangyao see the hope of staying in school to study.
When he was about to graduate, Xiao Yin told Xu Guangyao: You may have to make meritorious contributions. Xiao Yin blinked his eyes, full of pride for Xu Guangyao. "Cultivate the talents of the world, and be happy", Teacher Xiao is like Mencius. Xu Guangyao asked down, but did not elaborate.
At noon on this day, at the academy department, Vice President Ai Qing told Xu Guangyao: "The school department has approved it, and you have made meritorious contributions." North China Union masters and students in class
In Xu Guangyao's view, Xiao Yin's literary and art theory class is instructive and practical, which helps Xu Guangyao's writing skills to gradually mature, so that he quickly grows from a literary and art warrior who can only write newsletters to a writer. Xiao Yin cared for him, coupled with Xu Guangyao's humble intentions to teach, Xu Guangyao learned a lot of writing skills, achieved a key change from writing newsletters to writing literary works, and Xu Guangyao's writing level has made a qualitative leap.
After teaching at the North China United University for a year and four months, Xiao Yinfeng left the North China United University to serve as deputy editor-in-chief of Shijiazhuang Daily. But his teacher-student friendship with Xu Guangyao continues.
In July 1949, Xu Guangyao, who was stationed in Tianjin with his troops, took a leave of absence to concentrate on the creation of a long novel that reflected the reflection of the novel "Plain Fire". When his work was completed, Xiao Yin, who was the editor-in-chief of the Beijing "Literature and Art Newspaper", carefully read Xu Guangyao's manuscript, thought it was a good work, and invited Xu Guangyao to write an article on his creative experience of "How I Wrote< the > of the Plains of Fire", which was to be published in the "Literature and Art Newspaper", and wrote to Xu Guangyao three times on January 1, January 16, and January 18, 1951, proposing specific amendments to his experience of the article works.

For Xiao Yin, Xu Guangyao was grateful all his life. When he learned that Xiao Yin's hometown had established the Xiao Yin Literature Museum, the 94-year-old Xu Guangyao hand-wrote the banner "Yong Huai EnShi" and hand-copied the diary of Xiao Yin who was taught at the North China United University in 1947 during the Xiao Yin period and presented it to the Xiao Yin Literature Museum, and also signed his treasured Xiao Yin works to the Heyuan City Library.
