Today, we are talking for you about the story of Lu Zhonglin, a general from Dingzhou, Hebei Province.

Lu Zhonglin
Lu Zhonglin was born into a famous family, and Lu Chuanlin, one of his predecessors, once served as the inspector of Shaanxi. In his early years, Lu Zhonglin participated in the Luanzhou Uprising organized by Feng Yuxiang to the revolution. As a veteran of the Northwest Army, Lu Zhonglin has done a lot of good things and participated in warlord melee. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Lu Zhonglin, as the chairman of Hebei Province, also engaged in friction with the troops of Lü Zhengcao and others in Jizhong. Of course, in his later years, he also regretted what he had done.
Lu Zhengfu
Because of the loss of popular support and the defeat in the Eighth Route Army, Lu Zhonglin finally stepped down as the chairman of Hebei Province in 1940 and returned to Chongqing as a nominal military senate senator. As a second-class general in the army, Lu Zhonglin had lost his military power, and at this time he was wandering freely in Gele Mountain. But during this period of kuomintang-communist cooperation against Japan, Lu Zhonglin also came into contact with some progressive people in the Communist Party, which made his life begin to change.
Feng Yuxiang
In 1944, Lu Zhonglin ushered in the sixtieth birthday, and Zhou Enlai and Dong Biwu made a special trip to present the veteran general He Shou of the Northwest Army with a set of "The Complete Works of Marx". This book quietly changed his fate.
At the age of 60, Feng Yuxiang recommended Lu Zhonglin as the minister of the Military Service Department. The following year, after the victory of the War of Resistance, Lu Zhonglin smelled the smell of civil war, and he suggested to Chiang Kai-shek that the Military Service Department be abolished and that conscription be suspended for a year. He himself decided to resign as Minister of Military Service, expressing his reluctance to fight a civil war.
Liberation of the old shadow of Tianjin City
After the liberation war began, Lu Zhonglin returned to tianjin to live, and he opened the Great Wall Printing Factory in Beiping as a secret activity site for the CCP's underground party. In January 1949, under the command of Liu Yalou, Tianjin City was liberated, 130,000 Kuomintang defenders were annihilated, and Lu Zhonglin did not follow the Kuomintang troops to the south but stayed in Tianjin City to welcome the arrival of the People's Liberation Army.
After the founding of New China, Lu Zhonglin participated in the work of street residents as an ordinary citizen, and he was enthusiastic about publicizing the knowledge of fire prevention and theft prevention in the patriotic health campaign carried out in New China. After the outbreak of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, he took the lead in donating money and property. He said that he had studied Marx's book and knew the truth that "I am united for everyone, and everyone is advancing together for me".
Gao Shuxun
Chairman Mao Zedong was very appreciative of Lu Zhonglin's deeds, and in 1954 he personally received the veteran general of the Northwest Army and called him an expert in street work. Also in this year, Lu Zhonglin was appointed as a national defense commissioner.
After 1959, at the call of Premier Zhou Enlai, Lu Zhonglin and others devoted themselves to the writing of literary and historical materials, and he wrote hundreds of thousands of words of reminiscence articles. He was concerned about the great cause of the reunification of the motherland and repeatedly shouted at the old people on the island of Taiwan on radio stations to publicize the great achievements of New China.
Yu Xinqing
In January 1966, Lu Zhonglin died of cancer at the age of 82. At that time, Hebei Province and Tianjin Municipality held a solemn funeral for him. Lu Zhonglin's funeral committee was chaired by Yang Yichen, vice governor of Hebei Province, and Gao Shuxun, vice governor of Hebei Province and a veteran of the Northwest Army, presided over the funeral. The central leadership sent Yu Xinqing, director of the Ceremony Bureau, to Tianjin to pay tribute.
