Оши як ба як pilaf is the most classic pilaf in Tajikistan and can be found everywhere in restaurants and canteens.

The reason for this name is because to make this kind of pilaf, you have to put 1 kilogram of meat in 1 kilogram of rice, and the ratio of meat to rice is 1:1. After that, add 1.3 kg of carrots, 250 g of oil, and 200 g of onion.

Five-year price increase trend

The Tower Bureau of Statistics announced the price of Оши як ба як pilaf for 2017-2021, and its price doubled from 49.2 to 98 somoni in 5 years.

The ingredients that have risen the hardest this year have been carrots, meat and oil:

1 kg of carrots is 2.4 somoni in 2017 and 9 somoni in 2021.

1 kg of meat was 34 somoni in 2017 and 63 somoni in 2021.

1 kg of oil is 11.5 somoni in 2017 and 19 somoni in 2021.
