Red Crest House blends nostalgia for mid-20th century modern architecture, the colours and textures of the surrounding landscape, and the natural beauty of the Dandenong Ranges. The home is the result of a close collaboration between the architecture, interior design and furnishing teams, all inspired by the land in which it is located.

The whole house is imbued with the vernacular of Australia, with a mix of colours, textures and forms that complement the land, seemingly bold yet just right, with each element appearing to create an undefined, dramatic abode.

Based on the client's preference for a modern mid-century style, Simone Haag sources a number of antique and new furniture items from the local area as well as elsewhere to match the architecture, interior design and surroundings.

The visual environment of woodwork, hand-cut tiles in moss green and light earth colours, walnut, brass, linen, vintage furniture and lamps creates respect for the natural environment and nostalgia for medieval style, as well as Simone Haag's unique aesthetic.
