Remember when you first ate Happy Paradise Meal? Speaking of the childhood of the post-90s, McDonald's happy meal will not be absent in everyone's memory! At that time, the most anticipated thing was that my parents took themselves to McDonald's to eat children's packages and get a small toy, and the satisfaction of childhood was so simple.
Nowadays, most of the post-90s have become fathers and mothers, and the children of that year have long grown up, and their childhood favorite playmate "McDonald's" is still childlike! Recently, McDonald's China announced the upgrade of the Happy Paradise Meal at the annual "Mai Mai Full Table": from a three-piece set to a four-piece set, increasing the choice and proportion of vegetables and fruits to provide a richer and more balanced meal.
Parents may be curious about the new changes in happy meals, what are the benefits of a balanced diet for children? Let's hear what nutritionists have to say.
He Li, Director of the Institute of Nutrition and Health, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention:
The latest edition of the Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents (2016 Edition) tells us that "food diversity" is the basis of a balanced diet and a guarantee of reasonable nutrition. We need to consume more than 40 nutrients every day, each of which is irreplaceable, neither deficient nor excessive. After the upgrade of the Happy Meal, the energy contained in various combination foods has decreased, not exceeding 600 kcal per serving, and the energy comes from the carbohydrates, fats and proteins contained in the food. The happy meal was upgraded to a four-piece set, increasing the amount of vegetables and fruits, which can be said to be more balanced nutrition.
The salt intake of Chinese residents has always been high, and the high-salt diet has caused many health hazards. For food and beverage companies, the challenge of reducing salt is how to maintain taste. In fact, the impact of 15 to 30% salt reduction on taste is not too obvious, and McDonald's can effectively reduce salt without affecting the taste of food, which is a salt reduction measure worth encouraging.
Nutritional upgrades
Let every child with "opinion" eat vegetables and fruits happily
In 2018, McDonald's sold more than 27 million Happy Meals, including more than 16 million servings of milk and over 5.7 million servings of fruits and vegetables.
From the proportion of food sold, it can be seen that children do not like to eat vegetables, which is the most headache. This time, the Happy Paradise Meal cleverly turned the vegetables and fruits that children least liked to eat into a must-have option. Upgraded from a three-piece set to a four-piece set, increasing the proportion of vegetables and fruits, and providing fun for children to choose for themselves, so that children can consume richer and more balanced nutrition in a fun and playful state.
The new package refers to the McDonald's Global Child Nutrition Standards and includes one staple (optional meat protein source: fish, beef, chicken), one snack (optional mini fries, corn cup), one fruit and vegetable (optional apple slices, vegetable cup, corn cup) and one drink (optional pure milk, water, 100% apple juice). The dietary nutritional needs of Chinese children are fully considered.

From 2010 to 2018, McDonald's China reduced salt by adjusting the salt content of related products, such as hamburger bread (about 10% minus%), ketchup (about 10%) and fries (about 20%). In 2017, McDonald's restaurants began to use sunflower canola oil, which significantly reduced saturated fatty acids by more than two-thirds and made the nutritional structure of the products more balanced.
Escalation of responsibility
Happy paradise meals can not only make "small customers" happy, but also warm the hearts of "small patients"
Love and responsibility are McDonald's's insistence. Every time you eat a happy meal, it is equivalent to donating 0.5 yuan? It's true! Don't always think you're far from the public good.
Since 2015, mcDonald's China has donated 0.5 yuan to the "China Soong Ching Ling Foundation McDonald's Uncle House Charity Fund" for every happy meal sold, so that children can contact and participate in public welfare from a young age.
Don't underestimate the donated 5 cents, it can bring a "home away from home" for children who seek medical treatment in different places! By the end of 2018, happy meals had donated more than 32 million yuan. In the future, McDonald's China will promote the opening of more "McDonald's Uncle Homes" across the country to help families with sick children in need.
At the same time, McDonald's China has been committed to disseminating dietary nutrition knowledge to children, and cultivating scientific concepts of diet and health from an early age through edutainment. Following the launch of the "Mai Mai Experience Camp" in the restaurant in 2015, in August this year, it cooperated with the Chinese Nutrition Society to carry out "Children's Food Education". As of August 2019, about 50,000 children across the country have participated in these activities. In the future, McDonald's China will continue to work with various industry partners to continue to hold food education activities.
Happy upgrades
After Double 11, Disney celebrities "appeared" for a happy paradise meal
When I went to McDonald's, was it to eat a fried chicken burger? Or is it a small toy in a happy meal? When I was a child, I launched a new toy to collect McDonald's Happy Meal and ate a children's package for several days in a row, which can definitely resonate with many people.
This time, McDonald's and Disney reached a seven-year cooperation. Starting in 2019, McDonald's China will launch a Disney movie-themed Happy Meal every year to bring more surprises and joy to children.
Zhang Jiayin, CEO of McDonald's China, said at the event: "We are delighted to have this meaningful collaboration with Disney. I believe that soon, fans of all sizes will have more fun through happy meals at McDonald's restaurants. ”
It is reported that the first round of cooperative toys will be the first to enter the national McDonald's stores from November 13.
The six creative dishes of "Mai Mai All Seat" bring a different taste bud experience
You may wonder what is "mai mai full table"?
"McDonald's All Seats" is McDonald's China's annual brand event to announce McDonald's latest initiatives in the field of food safety and sustainability.
In 2019, the fourth "Mai Mai Full Seat" creative feast was held in Shanghai. The huge M logo at the door, Uncle Mai and his friends appeared en masse, instantly reminiscent of that laughing childhood.
This year, McDonald's China is still working with French chef Harauld Sextus, and the creative feast is inspired by the "kaleidoscope" and uses the same ingredients from McDonald's restaurant to create six creative dishes, showing the unique charm of McDonald's rich and fresh ingredients.
