Beijing News (reporter Zhang Xiaorong) On October 18, McDonald's China announced the upgrade of the Happy Meal at the "Mai Mai Full Table" event, upgrading from a three-piece set to a four-piece set, increasing the choice and proportion of vegetables and fruits to provide a richer and more balanced diet. At the same time, McDonald's China also announced a strong alliance with Walt Disney Company to open a cooperation from 2019 to 2025, and launched a Disney movie-themed happy meal every year to bring more surprises and joy to children.

Zhang Jiayin, CEO of McDonald's China, said that Happy Paradise Meal was born in the United States in 1979, and in 1990, Happy Paradise Meal came to Chinese mainland with China's first McDonald's restaurant, and as of 2018, it sold more than 27 million Happy Garden meals, including more than 16 million milk and more than 5.7 million fruits and vegetables. This time, McDonald's upgraded the happy meal from three aspects: nutrition, responsibility and joy.

From the perspective of nutrition, the new happy meal has increased the choice and proportion of vegetables and fruits. Upgraded from a three-piece set to a four-piece set that includes one staple (optional meat protein source: fish, beef, chicken), one snack (optional mini fries, corn cup), one fruit and vegetable (optional apple slices, fresh vegetable cup, corn cup) and one drink (optional pure milk, water, 100% apple juice). Under the premise of ensuring the deliciousness and quality of its products, McDonald's is committed to achieving less salt, better oil, more vegetables and fruits and grains, and at the same time, the new Happy Paradise Meal refers to the "McDonald's Global Child Nutrition Standard" and fully considers the dietary nutritional needs of Chinese children.

With the improvement of the national nutrition and health awareness, children's nutrition, healthy and balanced diet has become the most concerned issue for parents, McDonald's China combined its own business, to spread dietary nutrition knowledge to children, cultivate scientific diet and health concepts. Since the launch of the "Mai Mai Experience Camp" in the restaurant in 2015, in August this year, McDonald's cooperated with the Chinese Nutrition Society to carry out "Children's Food Education". As of August 2019, about 50,000 children across the country have participated in these activities. In the future, McDonald's China will continue to work with various industry partners to continue to hold food education activities.

When talking about the escalation of responsibilities, McDonald's China also introduced that the "McDonald's Uncle House" is a global charity project of McDonald's to provide support for poor and sick children to seek medical treatment in different places. Since 2015, mcDonald's China has donated 0.5 yuan to the "China Soong Ching Ling Foundation McDonald's Uncle House Charity Fund" for every happy meal sold, so that children can contact and participate in public welfare from a young age. By the end of 2018, happy meals had donated more than 32 million yuan. In the future, McDonald's China will promote the opening of more "McDonald's Uncle Homes" across the country to help families with sick children in need.

For children, happy meals are not only delicious, but also come with their accompanying toys. To this end, McDonald's and Disney have reached a cooperation from 2019 to 2025, and the two sides will carefully select the movie characters loved by Chinese children for the design of happy meal toys. Zhang Jiayin said: "We are very happy to have this meaningful collaboration with Disney. I believe that soon, fans of all sizes will have more fun through happy meals at McDonald's restaurants. It is reported that the first round of cooperative toys will be the first to enter mcdonald's stores nationwide from November 13.

McDonald's also revealed that since the introduction of strategic investors such as CITIC Shares, CITIC Capital, and Carlyle in 2017, as of September 2019, the "new McDonald's" has more than 3,200 restaurants in Chinese mainland.
