BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- He is Rodin's best student and mentor to Giacometti, but his name is relatively unfamiliar to the Chinese public. The reporter learned from Tsinghua University today that the Buder Sculpture Exhibition will be unveiled at the Tsinghua Art Museum on November 20, and 48 works will be unveiled neatly, allowing Chinese audiences to understand the sculpture in depth.

Antoine Bouder (1861-1929) was a famous French sculptor, painter and educator. At the age of 15, he was awarded a scholarship to enter the Toulouse Academy of Fine Arts, and eight years later he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris. However, Buddell dropped out of school because of his creative character and the conformist teaching of the academy, and was later recommended to enter Rodin's studio as a student and assistant to Rodin. He worked in Rodin's studio for 15 years, and while being influenced by Rodin's aesthetic ideas, he also disagreed with his artistic philosophy. Buddell eventually broke away from Rodin's influence in middle age and created his own unique style of architectural sculpture.

Why Buder's achievements are very high, but not as thunderous as Rodin and Giacometti, Yang Dongjiang, deputy director of the Art Museum of Tsinghua University, told reporters that the important reason for this is because Rodin and Giacometti have had large exhibitions in China and appeared more in the auction scene, but counting the history of sculpture, Budel's achievements should not be ignored. Bouder cultivated a large number of outstanding artists in his lifetime, and Liu Haisu, Pang Xuanqin, Pan Yuliang and others familiar to Chinese audiences were also taught by him.

The exhibition focuses on Antoine Buddell's masterpieces from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, which are representative of the artist's personal artistic style, including 38 bronze sculptures, 2 oil paintings, 8 watercolors, drawings and precious historical pictures. All exhibits are from the collection of the Bouder Museum in France.

The world-famous Hercules the Archer will also be unveiled. Boudell created the work in 1909. The exhibition features a section entitled "Hercules the Archer (1906-1909)", where visitors can witness different sizes of this series of sculptures and their photographs. The simplification of form and the unique treatment of spatial reality make Hercules the Archer both classical and modern, achieving a perfect balance in the overall visual. It was among the masterpieces of the masters at the beginning of its existence and inspired a large number of sculptors in later generations. (End)
