"What kind of image does your father have in your mind?" "I didn't have a father when I was three years old. Although I don't remember seeing him, I know he's the cutest father in the world! Recently, teachers and students of the School of Journalism and Communication of Central China Normal University went to Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, to visit Fang Mei, the daughter of martyr Fang Zhimin. Teachers and students felt the temperature of the revolutionary spirit in face-to-face conversations with the elderly.

This is the college's first social practice class of "Reading and Disseminating Red Classics" this semester. On October 22, 14 teachers and students went to Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, to "walk to read" "Lovely China" in the hometown of martyr Fang Zhimin.

At Fang Mei's home, teachers and students sat next to the old man and listened to her tell the story of the martyrs. Yang Chen, a student, told the Yangtze River Daily reporter that Grandma Fang's home was arranged in a simple and tidy manner, and the most conspicuous place in the living room hung a photo of martyr Fang Zhimin. Fang Mei told them that although she had not actually met her father, she had spent 20 years traveling to every place where his father lived and fought, recording his story. "My mother once said that when I was a child, I was weak and afraid that I would not survive, but my father firmly believed that the vitality of plum blossoms was tenacious, and Fang Mei would be able to live well." I know he's the cutest and tallest father in the world. When the students asked how college students inherited the spirit of Fang Zhimin, the elderly Fang Mei firmly replied: "That is dedication!" Patriotism is not empty, and dedication does not begin after you go to work. In the university period, we must make great aspirations, study hard, and build a lovely motherland. ”

After visiting the elderly Fang Mei, the teachers and students also went to the Jiangxi Provincial Library to listen to The story of Fang Zhimin's son, Fang Lan's wife, Hua Zhen, who first told the story of donating more than 400 copies of Fang Zhimin's literary and historical materials. Hua Zhenxian said that her husband collected more than 400 copies of the relevant manuscript materials of her father, Martyr Fang Zhimin, before her death, and in July 2020, she followed her husband's will and donated them to the Jiangxi Provincial Library.

From reading articles to talking to the relatives of martyrs, from visiting the exhibition hall to visiting the martyrs' cemetery, this three-day red party history class has left a deep mark on the hearts of the students.

"The stories of the old people made me get close to the vivid and vivid heroes, saw the images of martyrs that I could not feel in the books, and also felt the inheritance of the spirit from them." Yang Chen said. Student Bao Xiaodan said: "In the future, we will often think of Fang Zhimin's earnest entrustment to young people, that is, a hundred years later, Chinese youth will continue to have red genes and work hard for a beautiful China!" ”

Wang Li, a professor at the School of Journalism and Communication of Central China Normal University, introduced that "Reading and Disseminating Red Classics" was launched at the beginning of this year, and the course broke the simple book learning mode, allowing teachers and students to follow the red classics and go to the places where revolutionary martyrs lived and fought, and take an immersive party history education class. At present, teachers and students have entered the former residence of Chen Wangdao in Shanghai, Yi County in Hebei Province, where the "Five Heroes of Wolf Tooth Mountain" occurred, and Qujiawan, where the Red Guards of Honghu Lake are located.
