The movie "Love Before Midnight" is the third part of "Love Before dawn" and "Love at sunset and dusk", Jesse and Selena decided to live together since their second encounter, and now another 9 years later, they have a pair of twin daughters, settled in Paris. Jesse's ex-wife and son both live in the United States, and the two meet regularly.
Outside the play, they also got together nine years apart to make movies, the two actors to middle age, the years unceremoniously left many traces on their faces, from romantic encounters to couples, other people's parents, family, work, children and other daily trivial life occupies most of the time.
Most of the time in the film is a dialogue between two people, and the Korean film "The Woman Who Escaped" is also like this, the conversation itself is very exciting, and the plot is relatively simple. As long as Jesse and Selena can have a pleasant conversation, they are like going back to the first part of their youth, very harmonious and relaxed, but Jesse and Selena, who are already husband and wife, basically no longer worry about missing each other, relatively casual, talking about things that are really embarrassing in life, such as how Jesse handles the relationship between his ex-wife and son, and the son who is about to enter puberty needs more companionship.
In the third part, more people appear in their lives, and the focus is still on Jesse and Selena, and many times they are talking endlessly. In the summer, Jesse and Selena take the children on vacation to Greece, and they and their friends talk freely at the dinner table, sharing their original encounters and married lives, and it is easy to divide the table into two distinct camps, namely men and women. Married women increasingly agree not to put too much effort into romantic love, friendship and work to bring real joy to themselves. Jesse and Selena reach middle age and begin to reminisce if they go back to the original conversation? Will you still be impressed? They start reminiscing, and when two people have common memories, they recall "memories," but everyone's memories are often different and make the conversation interesting. Greece is a romantic place, suitable for slowing down and thinking about the past, but also imagining the future, that is, imagining death. There are many parents in the conversation, there are still many questions, often tell other people's stories as a reference, rarely discuss grand topics, such as "can people's faith in God make blind people regain their sight", for them, it is too far away from life, it is better not to pay attention.
On the last night of their vacation on the Greek island, Jesse and Selena sat together watching the sunset, a rare time for the two of them, but soon the trivialities of life took over their conversation again. There are too many female roles in the family, herself, her daughter, wife, mother... She also wants to be a professional woman, and which role is slightly out of order will cause condemnation from those around her. Two people are attracted to each other because of the differences in each other, but later because they are too close to each other to accept the differences in each other, they fall into endless quarrels. However, good communication is necessary, women are not necessarily hysterical, and men are not necessarily very rational.
After a heated argument, before midnight came, Jesse took the initiative to go to Selena and read a "letter from the future", tonight is still a good night, not all problems have to be solved, life has been going on, even if you throw away your partner, but move forward in a different way.
