The global connection | "a song to serve the country and the sea, and the bridge between the two places to benefit the people" - visit Nie Er's mark in Japan

TOKYO, June 28 (Xinhua) -- In the middle of summer, in Shonan Marine Park in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, surrounded by green spear trees and fresh sea tung flowers, a "ear" glyph-shaped monument stands facing the sea.

On July 17, 1935, Nie Er, a 23-year-old Chinese musician, drowned while swimming on the nearby Hoknuma coast. In order to commemorate him, in 1954, the monument initiated by the local people was formed in a corner of the park facing Sagami Bay, and was later rebuilt and expanded several times to form the appearance of the Nie'er Memorial Square today.

There are many monuments in the square, indicating the remembrance of nie er by the people of the two countries. Stepping into the square, the first thing that catches your eye is the stone stele inscribed by Guo Moruo when the monument was rebuilt in 1965. The inscription was written by the Japanese playwright and social activist Akita Yuque, whom Nie Er became acquainted with in Japan.

"Nie Er was born in 1912 in Yunnan Province, China... In his short career of more than twenty years, he wrote the "Great Road Song" and "Dock Workers Song" that praised the labor of the Chinese people, and the current national anthem of the People's Republic of China, "March of the Volunteer Army". ”

On the right side of the "Ear" monument, on two granite tablets from Yunnan, Nie Er's career is reviewed in more detail with Chinese. "Since elementary school, Nie Er's musical talent has begun to show its sharp edge, and the flute, huqin and yueqin are all refined. At the age of 16, he worked part-time as a tutor and completed his studies at Kunming Normal School. At the age of 17, he went to study at a drama school and music school in Guangdong. During this period, he began to come into contact with Marxist books and actively participated in the student movement..."

In 1928, Nie Er joined the Communist Youth League of China. In 1930, Nie Er went to Shanghai, hoping to further his studies, but what awaited him was unemployment and poverty. The personal experience of this period and the perception of the miserable life of working people had a profound impact on Nie Er. In 1933, Nie Er was introduced by Tian Han to join the Communist Party of China.

In the following two years, Nie Er composed theme songs and interludes such as "New Woman", "Pioneer of the Way", "Road Song", "Forward Song", "Graduation Song", "Singer Under the Iron Hoof" for opera, drama and film, which were widely sung throughout the country. At the same time, because these songs became powerful weapons and battle horns to inspire the people and fight against the enemy, the reactionary authorities prepared to arrest Nie Er. Nie Er left Shanghai in accordance with the decision of the party organization and took Japan to the Soviet Union.

According to relevant historical data, in April 1935, Nie Er boarded a ship from Shanghai and arrived in Japan. On the eve of this, he completed the first draft of the March of the Volunteer Army and sent it to Shanghai by May. On July 17 of the same year, Nie Er drowned while visiting a friend in Fujisawa.

The construction process of the Nie Er Monument and the Memorial Square is also the epitome of the continuous friendship between the chinese and Japanese people. In 1949, the citizens of Fujisawa called for the construction of a monument for Nie Er. In 1954, the monument was designed by Nie Er's friend and famous architect Fumihiro Yamaguchi and written by the playwright Akita Yuki. Damaged by a typhoon, the monument was rebuilt in 1965 along with the monument "The Land of Nie Er's Death". In 1986, Fujisawa citizens and related parties donated funds to build a relief of nie'er bust, and the memorial plaza was also repaired and expanded with the support of Kanagawa Prefecture and Fujisawa City.

Takashi Ueno, president of the Shonan Japan-China Friendship Association, told Xinhua news agencies that the monument was mainly built with donations from fujisawa citizens. "Each person donated one or two thousand yen, and the monument was built with donations from the general public. Everyone embraced the regret and nostalgia for Nie Er, and at the same time believed that it was the most important thing to convey the friendship between Japan and China through Nie Er. ”

Because of Nie Er, Kunming City and Fujisawa City formed an indissoluble relationship. In 1981, the two cities were established as sister cities. According to The Mayor of Fujisawa City, Tsuneo Suzuki, since the completion of the monument, some local people have spontaneously gone to the festival to offer flowers on July 17 every year, especially after the conclusion of the friendship city, hundreds of people have participated in the commemoration every year.

Enoshima, a tourist attraction in Fujisawa City adjacent to Shonan Marine Park, is where Nie Er once visited. On the top of the hill, there is a Chinese-style garden, Harukazawa Garden, which was jointly built by Fujisawa City and Kunming City. According to Masami Tanigawa, a staff member of the Fujisawa City Tourism Association who accompanied the reporter, Chunze Garden was completed in 2003 to commemorate the friendship between Nie Er and the two cities.

Tanigawa said that in order to build The Spring Garden, Kunming City specially sent traditional construction craftsmen to Fujisawa, and before that, Fujisawa also donated funds to build the Fujisawa Kunming Friendship Museum in Kunming as a place for japanese Chinese exchanges. Over the years, the two cities have sent visiting delegations to each other, and have also jointly held Chinese speech contests, Japanese speech contests, and traditional cultural activities of the two countries, cultivating a large number of young students and friendly people who are committed to Sino-Japanese friendship.

The sound of the tide on the shore of the Hoknuma gently beats the ear drums with the sea breeze, and the solemn melody of "Rise up, people who do not want to be slaves..." seems to linger in the ears.

On the right side of the relief of Nie Er's bust, there is a stone stele donated by Kunming City to Fujisawa City when commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the sister city, which reads "A song serves the country and shocks the world, and the two places build bridges to benefit all the people."
