New faces at WLF: 2020 Turing Award winner Alfred Aihou

The 4th World Top Scientists Forum (WLF) is just around the corner. This year's WLF will feature nearly thirty top scientists attending for the first time. The WLF public account will introduce them one by one, and today's appearance is the 2020 Turing Award winner Alfred AHO.

New faces at WLF: 2020 Turing Award winner Alfred Aihou

Alfred Ahon won the 2020 Turing Award for "advancing the basic algorithms and theories of programming language implementation and reviewing these findings in highly influential books."

Alfred Aihou is An emeritus chair professor of computer science at Columbia University. Won the 2020 Turing Award for "advancing the basic algorithms and theories implemented by programming languages and reviewing these findings in highly influential books."

Major Academic Achievements: Professor Aihou is the author of "Principles of Compiler Design", which is regarded as the standard for scholars in the field of computer science, and the best gift that Aihou and Professor Ullmann (co-winners) have given to millions of software programmers around the world. Hailed as the "Bible of Compiler Design," the book clearly spells out the phases of translating a high-level programming language into machine code, modularizing the entire compiler's build effort. Their basic algorithms have been incorporated into commercial compilers and popular compiler building tools such as Lex and YACC, which are frequently used by millions of people around the world to automatically build components of programming language compilers. Their early joint work on algorithm design and analytical techniques contributed key methods to the theoretical core of computer science that emerged during this period.
