Hong Kong, 24 May (China News Service) -- The Hong Kong Re-Departure Grand Alliance (Grand Alliance), jointly initiated by Tung Chee-hwa and Leung Chun-ying, vice chairmen of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and more than 1,500 people from all walks of life in Hong Kong, has celebrated its first anniversary. The Grand Alliance held a press conference on the 24th to summarize the past and introduce the priorities of future work, saying that it would promote Hong Kong's full integration into the overall situation of national development and implement the docking of the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

In his speech at the press conference, Tung Chee-hwa said that the grand alliance was established in Hong Kong at a very difficult time last year, fortunately, the country has moved forward step by step, and Hong Kong has finally started again, and the past year has undergone great changes and is ushering in a good moment. He believes that the world is changing and the country is developing, but we should not be too proud, because there is still a lot of work to be done. He believes that the country will get better and better, and every Chinese will feel proud. During the question session, Tung Chee-hwa said that he and his wife had been vaccinated against COVID-19, describing it as "really nothing wrong" and calling on Hong Kong citizens to actively vaccinate.

In his speech, Leung Chun-ying said that the Grand Alliance is about to launch its second year of work, focusing on more proactively promoting Hong Kong's integration into the overall situation of national development, including concentrating on promoting cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland provinces and cities, making good use of the development opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, realizing ideals for all sectors of Hong Kong society, and transforming everyone's efforts into the greatest and best results. He believes that today, one year later, Hong Kong has better conditions for re-departure.

Tan Yaozong, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and secretary general of the Grand Alliance, said that in the past year, the Grand Alliance has carried out work on epidemic prevention and control, economic and people's livelihood, youth employment, and rule of law education. Looking forward to the coming year, the Grand Alliance will focus on five tasks, including: continuing to publicize "one country, two systems"; promoting Hong Kong's accelerated integration into the overall situation of national development; supporting youth education; actively telling the "Hong Kong story"; and strengthening the construction of the Grand Alliance itself.

According to reports, the Grand Alliance will hold three seminars under the "14th Five-Year Plan" this year, including the Shanghai-Hong Kong, Fujian-Hong Kong and Hunan-Hong Kong Cooperation and Development Seminars, and will hold the "High-end Forum on International Communication in the New Era" at the end of May. The Grand Alliance expressed its hope to take the lead in cooperating with various institutions and organizations in Hong Kong to mobilize all sectors of society to jointly promote Hong Kong and promote the positive image of Hong Kong to the mainland.
