In the "Qia Classmate Boy" series, I have written many character analyses. Yang Changji, Kong Zhaoshou, Yuan Zhongqian, Zhang Gan, Lai Jinxi, Cai Hesen, Xiang Jingyu, Tao Siyong and others are all characters in my big book, and for the role of Ji Mohong, I have always been difficult to define. I don't know how to position him, because in the era of the Republic of China, he was really not a qualified teacher. From today's point of view, he doesn't seem to be at all wrong. Ambiguous and confusing.

Ji Mohong is a fictional character in "The Boy who is a classmate of Qia", and there is no such person in history. His existence seems to be to set off such masters of the Republic of China as Yang Changji, Kong Zhaoshou, Xu Teli, and Yuan Zhongqian. With his words, his virtues, his educational philosophy, and teaching methods, he set off the extraordinary sound of the masters of the Republic of China.
Ji Mohong, as the inspector of the Department of Education of Hunan Province. When Tang Qianming was in charge of Hunan, Ji Mohong became the director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. From the inspector to the director, the rapid promotion shows the aura of his mind and the vertical and horizontal of the official field.
Ji Mohong impressed me very much with his dress, his big shiny back, his well-trimmed beard, his straight Zhongshan suit, his big leather shoes, and his cup of tea. The feeling is that it looks stylistic and elegant. It is completely in line with the image of an educator, but as soon as he speaks, it will make people feel very vulgar, full of elite education, full of class division, full of power, desire, and interests. He repeatedly harassed Mao Zedong and other students, and finally betrayed the country and sought glory in order to keep his official position.
At the beginning of the TV series, he rode a high-headed horse and triumphantly went to Yang Changji's home to ask Yang Changji to be the director of the provincial education department. He had thought that Yang Changji would be as ecstatic as he was, and he would take up his post and be grateful to Dade. As a result, he ate a closed-door soup. In the face of the high-ranking official Houlu, Yang Changji looked at it coldly and was not moved. As a famous resident of Sanxiang, a master of Changsha, learning and excellence, there is nothing wrong with it. But Yang Changji said bluntly in the name of Junzi Lanzhi, "You want the orchid to become as rich as a peony, is the orchid still like an orchid?" "The ambition, sexual interest, and character of Yang and Ji are judged from above and below.
Of course, people have their own aspirations. Yang Changji likes to educate people in private schools, and there is nothing wrong with that. Ji Mohong is committed to government-run education, and there is nothing wrong with it. They all contribute to education and cultivate talents for the country, and the division of labor is different, but they have the same destination. The difference is that the starting point and focus of the two are different. Yang Changji is a "great talent who wants to plant a large wooden pillar for a long time" and cultivates talents for the country that have been used through the ages. Ji Mohong is "learning and excellence", cultivating elite talents for the country. This completely different educational concept is also the key to the differences between the two in the first division in the future.
Although Yang Changji did not accept Tan Yanmin's appointment, he became the director of the provincial education department. However, he accepted the letter of appointment of Kong Zhaoshou, the principal of the First Normal School, and became a teacher of an ethics self-cultivation class at the First Normal School. The reason why he abandoned the big position and took up a small post was precisely because he found a towering tree like Mao Zedong, Cai he and Sen, and fulfilled his long-cherished wish of "planting a big wooden pillar for a long time". As for Ji Mohong, as an inspector, he was stationed in the first division and became the assistant of the first division. His starting point is to do things for the official family, and naturally he is full of official spirit and satisfaction. As soon as he entered the door of the First Division, he chanted Wang Wei's "Mountain Residence Autumn Breeze", and the vassal style was elegant. As for the principal Kong Zhaoshou to give up his office to him, he did not hesitate to resign and gladly accepted, which shows the importance of his official position.
Although he was the education inspector of the Republic of China, his thinking was as conservative as that of the former Qing Dynasty. The old feudal stubbornness of the old set is vividly reflected in his body. During the inspection of the first division, Xu Teli happened to take the students on a tour of the campus. Ji Mohong felt very strange and asked the student supervisor Next to him what was going on with Fang Weixia. Fang Weixia replied that the students were in the education class, and when Ji Mohong heard it, he was very dissatisfied and said, "The class should be in the classroom." Fang Weixia explained that "the students are going to visit the primary school teaching and come back to discuss. Ji Mohong was very surprised, "Visit, who has not been to primary school, do you still need to visit?" No class, no listening, but also discussing, Principal Kong, the students can not let go. Ji Mohong's astonishing remark made Principal Kong Zhaoshou and others laugh bitterly. When encountering such a stubborn and conservative inspector, what else can Principal Kong say?
Although knowledge is learned from books, it cannot be applied through the ages, and it is not based on reality, and it is targeted, that is, teaching death books. How to read dead books live? It lies in being able to learn and use it, touching the class bypass, and having traces to follow. Truth is practiced, and scholarship is discussed. Xu Teli knows that these students will all be engaged in primary education in the future, and they will be able to teach and educate people. Therefore, in the first lesson, he did not lecture on the textbook, but took the students to visit the teaching, so that the students could experience and discuss the teaching from the teacher's point of view, which was very forward-looking and practical. As a teacher training student, I will teach and educate people in the future. If even the students themselves do not understand how to teach and educate people, how to establish a correct concept of education, how can they be a qualified teacher? Think about our current teacher training, how many teachers have taught students how to be teachers for four years, and students have never really experienced what it means to visit teaching? Have you never understood the purpose of education? Read dead books, die reading books. Teaching dead books, dead teaching books, rigid solidification, empty nothingness, used through the world, become empty talk. Looking at the sidelines, how many more Xu Teli are there? No more, no more, more, I'm afraid it's Ji Mohong and the like, right?
The teacher did not take a good class and led the students around the campus, which made Ji Mohong very dissatisfied. But when he learned that the teacher who was wandering around with the students was the famous Xu Teli, Ji Mohong immediately changed his face. Bending down and shouting, "Speaker Xu, look up for a long time." Note that Ji Mohong's title for Xu Teli is Speaker Xu rather than Teacher Xu, which shows that Ji Mohong is in awe of Xu Teli's identity as Speaker, not his teacher. Speaker of the House, official position. Teacher, teacher. The disparity in identity is so great that Ji Mohongyan does not know it. Calling Xu Teli by the speaker and calling himself by his inferior position shows the seriousness of Ji Mohong's bureaucratic thinking, and the speculation of facing the horse. As a provincial inspector, he should have been proud of his profession as a teacher, but he himself looked down on the identity of a teacher, and still wanted to be an official in his bones. Take education as a springboard to achieve the purpose of promotion.
Ji Mohong's words to the students show his thoughts even more: Dear young talents, in the next Ji Mohong. Ink of the Ink of Han Mo, The Hong of the Nine Heavens. Mo Hong is deeply honored to be able to gather with all the talents today. The so-called two words of precepts, I dare not be ashamed. But take this opportunity to communicate with you and be a reader. The ancients have their own Yan Ruyu in the book, there is a golden house in the book, and after reading the book, people will naturally have a great future. What other books would you read? Therefore, Confucius said, learning and excellence. After reading the book, the government will ask you to become an official. You can also get ahead and be a personal master. Of course, I am not saying that only officials have a future. It's just an analogy, but that's the way it is. In short, in a word, students should be learning-oriented, and don't care about things that you shouldn't care about. Don't waste time and talk nonsense. Take more time to read and write more books, that is the right thing to do. Then you will know that that is your future, that is your job.
Judging from the wording of this admonition, Ji Mohong was very humble on the surface and actually very proud. He once confessed that he was a person who had experienced more than ten years of hard reading, and now he has today's achievements. The implication is that I was once depressed, and it was reading that changed my poor fate. It is precisely because he knows the benefits of reading that he strongly exhorts students to study well, because only by reading can they get ahead and be personal masters. At first glance, there is nothing wrong with Ji Mohong's admonition, which is very inspirational and educational. Educate students, read well, yes. Students should read well, yes. The mistake is that he instilled distorted values into his students, and reading books is to get ahead and be a personal master. Such a class distinction, such exquisite self-interest, is not appropriate to speak from the mouth of a supervisor, nor should it be. What is the purpose of education? The big purpose is to plan for the future of the country and the nation, and the small purpose is to make up one's self-cultivation aspirations. This is a very serious and noble thing, and as a result, it is mixed into the logistics of selfish desires, if everyone is studying for the sake of being an official and a superior person, then what is the meaning of education? What is the hope of the country? I shuddered at the thought of it. It should be known that Ji Mohong lived in a Republic of China where all citizens were equal, not a feudal dynasty with class antagonism. He was the inspector of the Republic of China, not the study and government of the Qing Dynasty, and such a secular language is really disappointing. Of course, he himself is a vested interest, and it is reasonable for a person who has tasted the sweetness of reading to say such a heartfelt remark.
Ji Mohong's bold words made the teachers and students present speechless, shaking their heads and sighing. Only one Liu Junqing clapped his hands and applauded, which can be described as a cold field to the extreme. Why didn't the teachers and students dare to agree with him? That's because they have great ambitions and grandeur, they have the right three views, and they know that the ultimate purpose of reading is not to calculate personal gains and losses, but to do more important things than personal honor and disgrace. Fortunately, there is only one Liu Junqing, and if everyone is Liu Junqing, it will be painful. Liu Junqing is his loyal fan, following in his footsteps, what is the exchange in the end? Traitors to the country for glory, ungrateful. For the sake of a clerk's seat, Liu Junqing was able to write articles praising the imperial system and praising Sino-Japanese friendship with a clear conscience. Such a student who does not even care about the sovereignty of the country and the survival of the nation, what good things can you expect him to do for the country and the people in the future? When a traitor? When a traitor? Is this the elite educated by the elite? Without the correct three views, the more you read, the greater the officials will do, and the greater the harm to the country and the people. Why are most of the top talents cultivated by the two highest universities in China staying abroad? There are first-class talents abroad, second-rate talents in foreign enterprises, and third-rate talents in China, making wedding dresses for other countries. Why is it that as soon as the epidemic is serious, these elites who have gone out at home have squeezed their heads and run back to China, is the moon in China rounder than in foreign countries? Doesn't that tell? Exquisite egoistic education can only educate selfish egoists, and cannot cultivate real talents with boundless love. What is gained is oneself, and what is damaged is the country. Seeing this, do you still think that Ji Mohong's reading theory is correct?
Ji Mohong hung up the face of the reader and the dignity of the reader all day long. But the face of the reader The dignity of the reader is precisely what people like him have lost. As a Chinese, a backbone Chinese, and a Chinese with conscience, they would not approve of Yuan Shikai's restoration of the imperial system. As for Ji Mohong, as a reader and an educator, he had a clear conscience and shamelessly touted the imperial system. For what? Loyal to Yuan Shikai? Not for the red top on the head. In order to keep the black hat, even etiquette and righteousness and shame are not needed, such speculators, such a disaster of the country literati, live indeed exquisite, self-interested. Such a reader, can you expect him to be patriotic? Look at Yang Changji, Kong Zhaoshou, Xu Teli and other teachers, how they are indignant and passionate in the face of the shame of the Five Seven Kingdoms? If a country lives and dies by profit, it is better to avoid it because of misfortune and happiness. At the expense of his life, Kong Zhaoshou gave a speech that repeatedly refuted the twenty-one articles. Regardless of his life, Yang Changji dared to anger the overseer Tang Qianming and utter such bold words as "the people are not afraid of death, but they are afraid of death." Can Ji Mohong and the like say and do it? What kind of good students can you educate if you are not in the right body? Liu Junqing, who was single-handedly trained by him, embarked on the road of no return to being an enemy of the people, and Ji Mohong bore a great responsibility.
Ji Mohong once had a debate with Yang Changji, and the debate about "what kind of students the school cultivates" still has room for people to think about.
Yang Changji: Mr. Ji means that schools are places where superior people are trained, right?
Ji Mohong: Originally, did you still cultivate inferior people? As the saying goes, water flows low and people go high. What are the parents of students working so hard to send their children to school for? Isn't it just for them to have a good career, and he can have a day to get ahead? As gentlemen, we always think about the responsibility we bear on ourselves, and we must always cultivate students to seek a good future. Let the peasant child no longer have to carry the hoe, and the child of the worker's family no longer have to sell coolies. Go out one by one with heads and faces, Sven's. Being a personal master, this is worthy of the students' intention to study, and the parents are bitter and bitter. This is good, eat leftovers, students eat without correction, the teacher must take the lead in eating. If a teacher is confused, the principal will eat in front of the whole school. What is this to do, the students cultivated in this way, are not even unable to distinguish between high and low. Sven sweeps the floor, it's really Sven sweeps the floor.
Yang Changji: Those who carry hoes and sell coolies are all inferior people, untouchables, only those who read are superior, those who work hard govern people, and those who work hard rule people, Mr. Ji means this, right?
Ji Mohong: You can't talk like this, this is all feudal hierarchy, bad talk, but this world is such a world, this is also such a truth.
Yang Changji: Is it? Mr. Ji, if I hadn't known in advance, I would have thought that it was a former Qing scholar who was saying this to my face today. But you are not a student of the feudal dynasty, you are a civil servant of the Republic of China, and the Provisional Law of the Republic of China clearly stipulates that all citizens are equal. It is true that today's China has not really achieved equality for all, and there are many irrational phenomena, but what those of us who are engaged in education have to do is not to erase this unreasonable hierarchy, let students get rid of old ideas, and become a new person of the Republic of China. Is it right to work hard for the world of equality for all? The gentleman is good, full of high and low nobles, eager to teach the students to be fly camp dogs, but seek their own wealth ahead of the future. Selfish people who do not think about the future of the country and the nation, I would like to ask Mr. Ji, what are you trying to do?
Ji Mohong: Who can't talk about the big truth, but the big truth can't be eaten as a meal.
Yang Changji: I don't even want the big truth, what else do you want?
Ji Mohong: The Tao is different
Yang Changji: Do not conspire against each other
Ji Mohong: I would like to see what kind of good students you Mr. Itakura can teach with this great truth?
Yang Changji: I don't want to see any student Xue Ji's reasoning.
This dialogue can be called a classic debate that highlights the concept of education. What kind of students should schools train? Is it a student who is superior to others, or a student who is useful to the country and the people? Food for thought. From today's point of view, many people agree with Ji Mohong's views with both hands and think that Ji Mohong is too right. Isn't it true that students study in order to have a good future and change their tragic fate? Is it wrong to make yourself better? Is it wrong to teach students to read well and be personal masters? The more people who agree with Ji Mohong's views, the more they feel that there is a problem with realistic education. If we cultivate talents like Liu Junqing, exquisite egoists, and people full of utilitarian ideas, when the country is in danger of survival, can you expect these superior people to save the country? It is precisely because there are teachers such as Yang Changji and Kong Zhaoshou who have three views and super integrity, that there are students such as Mao Zedong, Cai Hesen, Luo Xuezan, and He Shuheng who regard the world as their own responsibility, and only then do they have the day when the Chinese change the day. Can refined egoists save the country? Such thinking is not only unacceptable, but also dangerous.
The wisdom of the youth is the wisdom of the country, and the wealth of the youth is the wealth of the country; the strength of the youth is the strength of the country, and the independence of the youth is the independence of the country; the freedom of the youth is the freedom of the country; the progress of the youth is the progress of the country; the youth is better than Europe, the country is better than Europe; the youth is stronger than the earth, and the country is stronger than the earth. The red sun rises, and its path is great. The river flows out of the river, and the ocean flows. The hidden dragon soars into the abyss, and the scales and claws fly. The milk tiger roared in the valley, and the hundred beasts trembled. Eagle falcons test their wings, and the wind and dust are blowing. Strange flowers first born, the emperor. Dry will be hairy, there is a man. The sky wears its flies, and the earth wears its yellow. There are thousands of ages, and there are eight wildernesses. The future is like the sea, and the coming to Japan is long. I only hope that my young man, as Liang Gong hoped, will be a person who is worried about the world and has a heart for the country. For the prosperity and strength of the country and the dream of China, we will strive ceaselessly. This is the best prospect and the brightest future for young people.
