In mid-July, the Gui army occupied the entire (Jiao) area of Jiang (Pu), completely cut off the communication between the 2nd and 7th Divisions of the New Fourth Army, and at the same time deployed the 171st and 176th Divisions to attack from the east and west in an attempt to invade and occupy the anti-Japanese base areas in central Anhui. Gui Stubborn openly declared in his instructions: "The purpose of this army's dispatch is purely to attack and suppress the New Fourth Army, control the Jiang (Pu) and [county) areas, and should avoid a decisive battle with the enemy." They also sent agents to contact the Japanese puppet army and explain that "this army has no other intentions except to fight the New Fourth Army" in order to obtain the cooperation of the Japanese puppet army.
At that time, the intention of the CENTRAL Committee was to develop Henan, requiring the 2nd Division to advance along the Pinghan Road and cooperate with the 4th Division.
However, the Headquarters of the New Fourth Army sent a telegram to Chairman Mao on July 26, saying: "Recently, after careful study of the situation in Henan, it seems premature to hold a move by a large corps to Henan's great army. At the same time, Gui Stubborn posed a great threat to the 2nd, 5th, and 7th Divisions of the New Fourth Army, and now he is trying to take advantage of the opportunity of the southern section of Huainan Road to break tracks and launch a large-scale attack on us,...... I have cut off the connection between my 2nd and 7th divisions, and then seek to realize the various plots to break me. The New Fourth Army proposed: "Draw out the necessary main army corps to the west of Huainan Road to organize a self-defense and anti-stubborn campaign." "Frustrate its sharp edge and consolidate the traffic of our 2nd and 7th Divisions and the Luxi position." On 30 July, the New Fourth Army asked the 2nd Division to prepare for the attack on Gui.
On August 2, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China sent a telegram agreeing with the above opinion, but at the same time pointing out: "At present, it is advisable to gather the necessary sufficient troops to conduct special rectification and training, to study the method of encirclement and annihilation, to attack Junbi, to let it advance to the appropriate location, I will use all my strength to annihilate one of them, and then find an opportunity to annihilate another part of it, and play a mighty wind, otherwise it will not be easy to solve the problem." ”
The vast number of commanders and fighters of the 2nd and 7th Divisions immediately marched on their horses, ready to deal a heavy blow to the invading enemy.
On August 23, Gui, with nearly 2,000 troops, launched a two-way attack on Tingting Mountain on the west side of Zhoujia Mountain in the Chaowu Central District.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="5" > first, the battle starts in the nest without direction</h1>
Zhoujia Dashan is located in the west of Wuwei County, Anhui Province, south of the Yangtze River, west of Baihu Lake, north of Chao Lake, more than 200 meters above sea level, dense forests on the mountain. Bordered by the Zhoujia Mountains are Hulu Mountain, Xujia Mountain, Patio Mountain, Yangshan Mountain, Wulong Mountain, and Bodhisattva Mountain. The location of the Zhou family mountain is dangerous, and it is a place where the enemy and us must fight. The Yanjiang Detachment of the 7th Division of the New Fourth Army sent an independent regiment to the front line of Tingting Mountain and Zhoujia Dashan on August 19 to step up combat readiness.
At 7:00 a.m. on August 23, the 528th Regiment of the 176th Division of Gui Gui, 5 squadrons of the standing brigade, and 1 mortar company, totaling 16 companies and more than 2,000 people, launched a fierce attack on the positions of Tingting Mountain and Hulu mountain in two ways. Long Yanwu, commander of the 8th guerrilla column of the Kuomintang army in Anhui Province, personally went to Wulong Mountain to supervise the battle.
The 3rd Battalion of the 528th Regiment of Guiji detoured to the right flank, advanced to the front of Hulu Mountain, and suppressed the forward position of the New Fourth Army with intensive machine gun fire.
The 1st and 2nd Battalions of the Independent Regiment guarding the positions of Patio Hill and Hulu Mountain and the 3rd Battalion of the White Lake Regiment rose up to meet the attack. Although the weapons and equipment of the New Fourth Army are still very backward, the vast number of commanders and fighters regard the anti-Japanese struggle to save the country as their own responsibility, regard death as a homecoming, fight heroically, and kill and injure the recalcitrant army with fierce firepower, and inflict heavy casualties on the recalcitrant army. The New Fourth Army not only dared to fight and fight, but also had good wit and good fighting. When the recalcitrant army approached, the commanders and fighters of the New Fourth Army, who were good at collectively dropping bombs, threw rows of grenades at the recalcitrant troops and pulled out explosives such as mines and stone mines.
For a moment, the flames soared into the sky, the sound was like thunder, the smoke was filled with dust, and countless shrapnel was like a sharp arrow flying towards the stubborn army. The commanders and fighters of the New Fourth Army, taking advantage of the chaos of the recalcitrant army, immediately jumped out of the trenches, pulled out their sabers, and rushed like shooting stars and tigers, desperately pounced on the recalcitrant troops, killing the recalcitrant soldiers and crying wolf howls, and retreating step by step.
At about 10 o'clock, the recalcitrant army attacked head-on with the strength of 5 companies, and attacked Yangshan, Tingtingshan and Guanshan from the flank with the strength of 5 companies. After repelling several attacks by the recalcitrant troops, the independent regiment of the Yanjiang detachment had to be ordered to move because of the exhaustion of ammunition. In order to cover the smooth transfer of troops, the chief and deputy squad leaders of the 3rd Company of the New Fourth Army and two soldiers held their positions and fought hard with the recalcitrant troops who were more than ten times larger than themselves, and finally all of them died heroically.
After the recalcitrant army invaded Yangshan, Tingtingshan, and Guanshan, it then besieged the Three-Pointed Mountain Bunker of the New Fourth Army with all its might. Under the leadership of Zhang Bai and Zhang Kaiyun, one warrior after another came down like a fierce tiger, scrambled to jump out of the trenches, and shouted in unison, "Long live the Communist Party of China!" "They pounced on the recalcitrant army with overwhelming force, and fought with the butts of their guns, stones, and teeth.
The 23 brave warriors of the New Fourth Army sacrificed heroically, their greatness can be seen in the sun and the moon, and their loyal souls can cry ghosts and gods. They used blood to lay the foundation for the final victory of the Zhou family dashan self-defense counterattack.
Then, relying on Tingting Mountain and Guanshan Mountain, the recalcitrant army concentrated its superior forces and stormed the Position of the New Fourth Army's Zhoujia Dashan.
The commanders and fighters of the 3rd Battalion of the Independent Regiment fought back, fought fiercely with the recalcitrant army, and after several hours of repeated fighting, crushed the attack of more than a thousand recalcitrant troops, and always insisted on the Position of the Zhou family dashan.
At this time, the cunning and stubborn army began to shift its target, attacking the forward position of Longtou Mountain, and then slammed into the Zhoujia Mountain, all the way to the bunker of the New Fourth Army. The commanders and fighters of the 7th Company of the Independent Regiment fought bravely, fought bloodily with the recalcitrant army for several hours, repelled 4 charges of more than a thousand recalcitrant troops, and prevented the recalcitrant army from encroaching on an inch of land.
The battle continued until dusk, and the recalcitrant army, fearing annihilation, fled in the direction of Wulong Mountain and Huanggu Gate. With the cooperation of the ChaoWu Brigade, the Independent Regiment and the 3rd Battalion of the White Lake Regiment took advantage of the victory to attack and retake the front-line positions of Tingting Mountain, crushing Gui's attempt to occupy the Zhoujia Mountains first, and then advance step by step, occupying the New Fourth Army's Chaowu base area.
In one fell swoop, the Zhoujia Dashan self-defense counterattack killed more than 300 officers and men of 1 battalion commander, 3 company commanders and below of the 528th Regiment of Gui, beat the 528th Regiment to the point of losing combat effectiveness, and pioneered the brilliant example of the 1 regiment of the 7th Division inflicting heavy damage on 1 regiment of Gui Yan and holding the position, which was commended by the Headquarters of the New Fourth Army.

On November 10, 1944, the Japanese puppet army concentrated more than 7,000 people, from the east and west lines, divided into seven roads to the central area of the Luxi base area, Lotang Town, Zhangqiao and other places to "sweep". The enemy on the eastern front set out from Bengbu, Mingguang, Chuxian, and Dingyuan and attacked the town of Lotang in the central area in four ways; the enemy on the western front advanced eastward from Huainan Road and attacked the areas of Jigang and Zhangqiao in three ways. Wherever the Japanese army went, they killed people when they saw them, burned houses when they saw them, and left no chickens and dogs behind, and implemented the inhumane "three lights" policy.
On the 13th, the odious Gui's 171st Division also concentrated the main force of 5 battalions and more than 8,000 local local armed forces, commanded by Meng Peiqiong, commander of the 512th Regiment, and immediately after the Japanese puppet army, spied on the opportunity, and attacked the Luxi base area in two ways, even occupying Caojiagang, Guoji, Qinglongchang and other places, and the situation was extremely grim.
The Japanese puppet army marched east and west, specifically destroying the fortifications of the New Fourth Army, blowing up pillboxes and walls, and laying mines and grenades underground, delaying the repair time of the New Fourth Army, and creating conditions for the recalcitrant army to attack the liberated areas. On the 14th, when the recalcitrant army approached the Caojiagang area from the south to the 15th Regiment of the New Fourth Army, the Japanese puppet army also advanced from the north to the same area. The 15th regiment flexibly jumped out of the japanese, pseudo, and stubborn pinch attack. When the Japanese puppet army was about to meet the recalcitrant army, it immediately fired artillery and warned the recalcitrant army, and the recalcitrant army immediately retreated. This is a performance made on the battlefield by the secret collusion of the Japanese, the pseudo-puppet, and the stubborn.

The 14th Regiment and the Chaobei Detachment carried out successive attacks from QinglongChang to Huainan Road, dealing a great blow to enemy strongholds and coal transportation along Huainan Road. On the morning of the 16th, the Japanese army entered the north of the Qinglong Factory, and the recalcitrant army entered the south of the Qinglong Factory. The leaders of the 14th Regiment of the New Fourth Army analyzed whether the Japanese and the stubborn were secretly colluding and it was inconvenient to have direct contact on the battlefield, so they implemented a "pocket empty" strategy: They sent 1 company of troops to divide the Japanese army between Japan and the stubborn soldiers in two ways, one to fight the Japanese army to the north, one to the south, and the two sides to fight and retreat, to lure the Japanese and stubborn to advance.
When the Japanese and stubborn armies approached, the company of the New Fourth Army came to a "golden cicada shell" and withdrew covertly. It was rainy and foggy, and the human form could not be seen clearly from 10 meters away. When the Japanese and the stubborn met each other, they regarded each other as the New Fourth Army, so machine guns, rifles, and grenades opened fire on each other together. Over the past few days, the Japanese puppet army has been hit hard by the New Fourth Army, and finally has the opportunity to breathe, and the recalcitrant army is glad to be able to annihilate the New Fourth Army in one fell swoop, so the two sides fight more and more fiercely, until the Japanese army captures the recalcitrant soldiers, only to know that it has fallen into the "trap" of the New Fourth Army, and the Japanese devil commander is arrogant and arrogant.
The casualties of this fire were not small, and the casualties of the Japanese, pseudo-japanese, and stubborn people were not small, and the broad masses of the people in the Huainan area all clapped their hands and applauded it after hearing the news.
However, the stubborn army was very determined to suppress the New Fourth Army. Before dusk on the 17th, the four battalions under the command of Gui Zhimeng Peiqiong had entered the line of Guo Ji and Jiang Ji south of Yanshou ji, only 2. 5 km, the attack is imminent.

All the fortifications in Yanshouji and Zhanjigang were destroyed by the Japanese puppet army; there were only 18 regiments nearby, and several other regiments were outside the day's trip; for several days, the troops of the New Fourth Army were constantly transferring and fighting, and they were extremely tired.
There is no other way, and only by repelling the attack of the recalcitrant army can the New Fourth Army calmly handle the difficult situation caused by the Japanese and pseudo-"sweeps."
Cheng Jun, brigade commander and commander of the military sub-district, rushed to Yanshouji and sent a telegram ordering the 13th, 14th, and 15th regiments to overcome all difficulties and rush to the Zhanjigang area overnight to assemble; ordered the 18th Regiment to immediately concentrate all the regiment's troops in Yanshouji and Zhanjigang to repair the fortifications overnight, and to do everything possible to hold out for a day.
Fortunately, the recalcitrant army did not dare to rush to attack, so that the New Fourth Army gained time to assemble troops. On the 18th, Gui Ji stopped for a day on the line between Guo Ji and Jiang Ji, firing guns to the north, testing the false reality. Before dusk, all three main regiments of the New Fourth Army arrived at the location designated by the brigade headquarters and were hidden. The fighting spirit of all units was strong, and the battle books were sent to brigades, regimental divisions, and political organs one after another.
At 8:00 a.m. on the 19th, Meng Peiqiong commanded four main battalions and more than 300 people from the Tujiu Niu Summit Unit, and pounced on the Zhanjigang area in two ways. Meng Peiqiong personally commanded 3 battalions, under the cover of heavy artillery fire and light and heavy machine guns, and pounced on the positions of the New Fourth Army. The commanders and fighters of the New Fourth Army used light machine guns and grenades to fiercely return fire on the recalcitrant troops, and rows of bullets and grenades flew through the recalcitrant groups, repelling the recalcitrant troops' repeated attacks.
By 3:00 p.m., the rampant Meng Peiqiong still thought that there was only one unit of the 18th Regiment of the New Fourth Army in the Area of Zhanjigang, so he readjusted his deployment and planned to encircle the Area of Zhanjigang and completely annihilate the garrison of the New Fourth Army in one fell swoop.

At this time, the 13th Regiment of the New Fourth Army and the brigade's cavalry company, reconnaissance company, and artillery company had moved covertly from Zhangqiao Town to the flank of the recalcitrant army north of Zhanjigang. Brigade Commander Cheng Jun came to the 13th Regiment to personally command, taking advantage of the opportunity of the recalcitrant army to adjust its deployment and command the troops to suddenly attack.
The cavalry company rushed into the enemy position on horseback, and the reconnaissance company and the 1st and 2nd companies of the 13th Regiment followed closely, like a fierce tiger descending the mountain. Company commander Gao Hechang took the lead and led the whole company into the enemy position, killing the stubborn army in blood and flesh. When the commander of the 3rd Battalion of the 513th Regiment of the Recalcitrant Army was captured, he still held his head in both hands and exclaimed: "It's terrible! The cavalry of the New Fourth Army was fierce. Dodge to the left, knife to the left, dodge to the right, knife to the right, no way to fight. ”
Gui Stubborn was confused under the sudden blow of the New Fourth Army and retreated step by step. The New Fourth Army took advantage of the victory to pursue, annihilating the recalcitrant army in one battalion. The 1st and 2nd battalions of the 14th Regiment attacked south of Zhanjigang, and together with the 13th Regiment, they surrounded Meng Peiqiong and his remnants at Shangyang's house; the 3rd Battalion and 15th Regiment of the 14th Regiment attacked the recalcitrant forces attacking Dong Daxu, and divided their 4 battalions into Xipenggang and Xiaopenggang with a single blow. That night, one each of the 14th and 15th Regiments, under the command of Deputy Brigade Commander Zhang Yixiang, annihilated 1 infantry company and 1 heavy machine gun platoon of the recalcitrant army trapped in Xiaopenggang.
On the 20th, Cheng Jun and others estimated that Gui Gui might send reinforcements, and sent a force of 15 regiments and 14 regiments to prepare for reinforcements.
The cunning and stubborn army took advantage of the adjustment and deployment of the New Fourth Army to suddenly break through. The 15th and 14th Regiments of the New Fourth Army each pursued in the rear, and the 1st Battalion of the 18th Regiment blocked in the front. Under the front and rear of the New Fourth Army, except for the stubborn battalion commander Meng Zuoxuan who led more than a dozen people to escape, all the rest were annihilated.
At the same time, the 13th and 14th regiments attacked the remnants of the Shangyang family. Under the bombardment of mortars and gun grenades, the smoke of the Shangyang family billowed out, making the recalcitrant soldiers unable to open their eyes and breathe. The remnants are like ducks scattered, running around. Cheng Jun ordered an immediate onslaught, chasing after and fighting hard, annihilating most of the recalcitrant army. Meng Peiqiong fled with the remnants of his army into Xiaozhuzhuang in an attempt to resist. The pursuing troops of the New Fourth Army rushed into the village, and in just over ten minutes, they completely annihilated the stubbornness. At around 4 p.m., the fighting was all over. The Gui 511 Regiment, which came to the aid, immediately fled south when they heard the news. It has been entrenched for many years and endangered the liberated areas
Weizi was stubborn and also abandoned the nest to escape, and Xie Weizi recaptured the 18th Regiment of the New Fourth Army. Meng Peiqiong hid in the trench and pretended to be dead, and was captured alive by the troops of the New Fourth Army cleaning the battlefield.
In this battle, the four main battalions of Gui Gui and the tu stubborn troops participating in the battle totaled more than 1,900 people, including 1 commander of the prisoner of life and 3 battalion commanders. In the spring of 1945, during the Battle of Prince's City, the New Fourth Army captured a briefcase of documents from the 1st Battalion of the 511st Regiment of GuiJiao, from which an oil poem depicting the Battle of Jigang was found:
