Faith is the soul of a heroic martyr and a holy place in the heart of a heroic martyr. They are determined to pursue their faith; they are willing to give their lives for their faith.
"With the long street line, waddling and staggering, the city people are attracting attention, I am not ashamed." With the long street line, the sound of shackles is sonorous, the people of the city are surprised, and my heart is at peace. With the long street of shackles, the ambition is more and more exuberant, and the prisoners are fighting for the steps, and the workers and peasants are liberated. This is a revolutionary poem "Walking with Shackles," which Mao Zedong praised as "the first person in the political work of our party and our army, when the enemy escorted him through the streets after his arrest." Between the lines, there is a flash of iron bones, the brilliance of heroes standing up to the sky. This is a poem written by Liu Bojian with life and faith.
During his more than ten days in prison, Liu Bojian wrote four family letters in a row, and unfortunately, only three of them were eventually preserved. Next, we revisit these precious family letters and feel his firm faith and iron will.

Every Qingming Festival, Liu Jichang and his family would come to the back hill of the Liu Bojian Martyrs Memorial Hall to plant a tree, and this year they specially hung a postcard on the branches.

Liu Jichang, grandson of the martyr Liu Bojian: When he was studying in Europe and the Soviet Union, he liked postcards and often sent them home.
Liu Jichang's grandfather, Liu Bojian, went to Europe at the age of 25 to work and study, and then, together with Zhou Enlai and others, initiated the organization of the Young Chinese Communist Party in Europe, and became a member of the Communist Party of China in 1922.
In December 1931, the Ningdu Uprising broke out. More than 17,000 people of the Kuomintang 26th Route Army joined the Red Army with weapons and equipment, and Liu Bojian was one of the organizers and planners. After the uprising, this unit was organized into the Fifth Army of the Red Army, and Liu Bojian served as the director of the political department. On March 4, 1935, when Liu Bojian led his troops to move through the siege, he was unfortunately shot and arrested.
During his 17 days in prison, Liu Bojian wrote four family letters, issuing a cry of "born for China, died for China", and the heroic revolutionary integrity at the end of his life jumped on the paper.
Liu Liheng, the great-grandson of the martyr Liu Bojian: The brother is ready to sacrifice, life is for China, death is for China, everything is just listened to.
Liu Jichang, grandson of the martyr Liu Bojian: I have no private property for the Chinese revolution, and the upbringing of three young children is exhausting to my brothers and sisters-in-law. Most importantly, you will continue my ambitions, shed blood for the liberation of the Chinese nation, and continue my unfinished glorious cause.
Li Chen, director of the Liu Bojian Martyrs Memorial Hall: These letters. It's not just about being alone. And the purpose of finding [children] is to inherit their legacy. Pass on the seeds of revolution.
And almost at the same time as this letter, there was another farewell letter written by Liu Bojian to his wife Wang Shuzhen:
"Comrade Shu Zhen, don't be sad, I hope you will work hard for the Chinese revolution no matter what, and don't break away from the revolutionary front. Twelve o'clock is coming, it is about to go to the killing field, can no longer write, to the final salute of the revolution! ”
Li Chen, director of the Liu Bojian Martyrs Memorial Hall: He was going to the execution ground at that time, and his handwriting was exactly the same as usual, and he was particularly calm and self-assured.
However, when Liu Bojian rushed to the execution site, he did not know that just a few days ago, his wife Wang Shuzhen had died in the guerrilla zone in western Fujian. Their three children lost their beloved parents forever. Later, with the care and help of Zhou Enlai, after nearly twenty years of searching, Liu Bojian's three lost sons were found one after another.
In 1979, 44 years after the death of their parents, the three brothers met for the first time, and all three were nearly half a hundred years old at the time. In a biography published for his father in 2013, the second son, Liu Bao, deliberately wrote the words in the family letter "Born for China, Died for China" on the cover.
On March 21, 2021, the 86th anniversary of the martyrdom of Liu Bojian, Liu Jichang, on behalf of the whole family, solemnly wrote four lines on the postcard.
Liu Jichang, grandson of the martyr Liu Bojian: A hundred years of style and glory remember the original heart, 86 years of sacrifice to the soul of the hero. Bo Jian's blood is prosperous, and my generation continues to move forward. Dear Grandfather, your oath of liberation of workers and peasants has been fulfilled, and your children and grandchildren have grown up together with the new China for which you fought, and the new China for which you shed blood and sacrificed.
