"Fifty Shades of Grey" actress Dakota Johnson will once again play the lead role in a modern version of Netflix's adaptation of Jane Austen's classic Persuasion, playing Anne Elliott, which has been decided to begin filming in May this year, and it is unclear which actor will play her lover Frederick Wentworth.

It's clear that Netflix's cast this time favors some big-name star actors, rather than some lesser-known actors like the ones used in the filming of Bridgeton. Despite the lack of detail, the new version of Persuasion will tell a story that audiences love in a "modern, witty and humorous way" and strive to ensure authenticity. So, the beautifully cut, luxurious corsets and hats in Bridgeton won't necessarily appear in Netflix's new version of Persuasion, but Austen's iconic interpretation of British high society will appear.

Director Kelly Clarknell will be at the helm of the show, and she became famous in Hollywood for her films Sea Wall and A Life on Broadwell, which were nominated for a Tony Award.

The streaming giant also shared the role setting for the heroine of Persuasion: "Anne Elliott is a stubborn woman who lives with a snobbish family on the verge of bankruptcy, is a woman who does not conform to the trend, but has modern emotions and thoughts." 」

"When Frederick Wentworth, the fashionable man she once sent away, breaks into her life again, Anne must make a choice: forget the past, or listen to her heart when the second chance comes."

Persuasion was Jane Austen's last novel, completed in 1817, but not released until 1818, after her death.

Her brother Henry Austin has settled on the title of the book because his sister doesn't seem to have made a choice before her death, and she has arranged to publish another of her novels, Northangjue Temple.

Finally, she also added a "biographical notice" to the novel in which she revealed her identity so that she was no longer an anonymous author.

Persuasion has been adapted several times since its publication in 1818, including the 2007 TV film Anne Elliot starring Oscar-nominated Sally Hawkins, in which Rupert Penley Jones played Colonel Wentworth.
