Wang Cang, one of the seven sons of Jian'an during the Three Kingdoms period who came out of Juye, Shandong

This prince Gongsun also has different talents, I might as well also.

This is a sentence said by Cai Yong, the father of the famous talented woman Cai Wenji in the Eastern Han Dynasty, a literary scholar and calligrapher, who is this Wang Gongsun who can convince famous literary scholars? He was King Zhongxuan, one of the seven sons of Jian'an at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Although I knew this talent when I was in middle school, I didn't know until the last two years that Wang Cang, the seventh son of Jian'an, who Chinese the highest achievement in learning, actually came out of Heze Juye. The place that deepened my understanding of Wang Yue was not Heze, but the ancient city of Xiangyang, thousands of miles away from Heze.

Wang Cang (王粲), also spelled Zhongxuan, was born after Mingmen, his great-grandfather Wang Gong served as a lieutenant during the Han Shun Emperor, his grandfather Wang Chang served as Sikong during the Han Ling Emperor's reign, his father Wang Qian served as the long history of the great general He Jin, and his great-grandfather and grandfather were both ranked as the three dukes of the Eastern Han Dynasty, and were famous political figures at that time.

According to the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms and the Book of Wei, Wang Yue was a native of Gaoping, Shanyang. Shanyang refers to Shanyang County at that time, and Gaoping refers to Gaoping County. Shanyang County was also called Juye County, Shanyang Kingdom, and Changyi State, and its seat of government was located in Changyi Village, Daxieji Town, Juye County, Heze City. Gaoping County belonged to the then Shanyang Commandery (山陽郡), and in the first year of the Jin Dynasty (265), Shanyang Commandery (山阳郡) was placed in the State of Gaoping.

Whether it is the "Yanzhou Fuzhi" during the Ming Dynasty, the "Caozhou Fuzhi" during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, and the "Chronicle of Juye County" in the Daoguang Period, there are records of Wang Cang and his great-grandfather Wang Gong, grandfather Wang Chang, and father Wang Qian.

Wang Yue was born in the sixth year of Xiping (177) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, also in that year, Cai Yong's daughter, Cai Yong's famous talented daughter Cai yong at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, was born. Born in a famous family, Wang Cang showed an extraordinary talent for literature from a very young age, so when Cai Yong saw the young Wang Cang, he said: This Wang Gongsun also has different talents, and I might as well do it. My family's books and articles should be with it. Perhaps since that time, Wang Cang has already become very familiar with cai wenji.

When Wang Cang was seventeen years old, Situ at that time wanted to recruit Wang Cang as a waiter at the Yellow Gate, and considering the chaotic situation in the world at that time, Wang Cang did not apply for the conscription, but went south to join his hometown of Jingzhou Mu Liu Biao. In the thirteenth year of Jian'an (208), Cao Cao marched south to Jingzhou, and Liu Biao's son Liu Qun surrendered, and Wang Cang, who was in Jingzhou, also defected to Cao Cao. Because of his literary talent, Wang Yue was deeply trusted and admired by cao's father and son, and was soon awarded the title of Marquis of Guannei. In the eighteenth year of Jian'an (213), Cao Cao was made the Duke of Wei by Emperor Xian of Han, and Wang Yue was appointed as a servant and became one of Cao Wei's staff. Wang Cang was not only politically valued, but because of his literary achievements, he and Cao Cao's sons Cao Pi and Cao Zhi also established a deep friendship, and they often chanted poems together.

In the twenty-first year of Jian'an (216), Cao Cao was the Prince of Wei. In October, he sent an army south to conquer Sun Quan, and as one of Cao Cao's aides, Wang Yue followed Cao Cao south. In the spring of the following year, on the way back to Yecheng with Cao Cao, a generation of talented sons Wang Yue died of illness at the age of forty-one. Cao Pi, who was in Yecheng, was distraught when he learned of Wang Cang's death and personally led the scribes to send him a funeral. Because Wang Cang usually has a habit of listening to donkey calls, in order to express his affection for Wang Cang, Cao Pi and a group of literati learned to call donkeys to send off Wang Cang, which is the famous donkey mourning.

——Wang Yue, "Climbing the Stairs"

Above the city wall in the southeast corner of the ancient city of Xiangyang, there is a pavilion with heavy eaves on the top of the mountain, which is the Zhongxuan Building, which is called the "Four Famous Buildings of Chutian" together with the Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, the Qingchuan Pavilion and the Yueyang Tower in Yueyang, which is named after the commemoration of The "Climbing the Tower" written here. Wang Yue came from his hometown of Shanyang County to the south to join his fellow villager Liu Biao. Wang Cang in Xiangyang was not appreciated by Liu Biao, so Wang Cang remained depressed. At that time, it was the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the mountains and rivers were broken, the world was in turmoil, and he could not return to his home, but could only drift in other places, and this kind of ambition was difficult to reward the emotion, which made him very uncomfortable. When I climbed the city tower once, I looked around and a song "Climbing the Tower" was sent out with feeling. Later, in order to commemorate Wang Yue's "Climbing the Tower", the people of Xiangyang named the city tower where Wang Yue climbed as Zhongxuan Building. Because Wang Cang once wrote "Climbing the Tower" here, many literati and rioters from later dynasties also competed to climb the Zhongxuan Building, and they used this to either yongshi huaigu, worry about the world and remember the people, or borrow the scenery lyricism, homesick Mingzhi, and for a while Zhongxuanlou became a cultural famous building in Xiangyang City.

Zhongxuan Building, also known as Wang Yue Lou, is located in the southeast corner of the ancient city. During the Ming Dynasty, Zhou Shaoji, the prefect of Xiangyang, built the southeast corner tower here, named it Zhongxuan Lou in honor of Wang Yue's "Denglou Fu", and asked his friend Wang Shizhen to compose a poem "ZhongxuanLou Record". Because of the war and other reasons, the Zhongxuan Building was later destroyed. During the Qing Yongzheng period, Xiangyang deputy Shi Zhao Hong'en rebuilt the Zhongxuan Tower on the site, and in the 25th year of Qianlong, the xiangyang prefect Hu Yi rebuilt it, and the reconstructed Zhongxuan Building was destroyed again in the war shortly after.

The Zhongxuan Building we see now was restored and rebuilt by the local government on the site of the Zhongxuan Building in 1993. The Zhongxuan Tower, which is more than ten meters high, is divided into three parts: the city wall, the city platform and the main building, and the Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, Hubei, the Qingchuan Pavilion and the Yueyang Tower in Yueyang, Hunan, are called the four famous buildings of Chutian.

At the end of the Ming Dynasty, the Great Minister of the Literati District climbed the newly built Zhongxuan Building after coming to Xiangyang and wrote a poem "Xiangyang ZhongxuanLou":

Drifting according to Liu Ri, sad and cold as a year. Homeless floating Han Shui, there are guests reminiscing about Qin Chuan.

Outside the floating clouds of the country, before the rivers and lakes fall in front of the geese. Although the time is different, the nostalgia is sad.

In the earlier Tang Dynasty, the famous poet Du Fu went to Jingzhou in order to send farewell to the history of Jianzhou, and wrote a poem "Will Go to Jingnan to Send Farewell to Li Jianzhou", in which Zhongxuanlou is also mentioned:

Passing through the double unkempt sideburns, the sky into the waves of a fishing boat.

When the horses met, the spring breeze looked back at ZhongxuanLou.

Although Zhongxuan Building has been rebuilt in recent years, here you can still feel the historical atmosphere emitted by the ancient city of Xiangyang and the cultural atmosphere emitted by this building. Although Wang Cang was only a hurried visitor to the ancient city of Xiangyang, this building made history remember Wang Cang, let the people of Xiangyang remember Wang Cang, and also let me, the hometown of Wang Cang, re-acquaint myself with Wang Cang.
