Fourth, how to safely raise tropical fish
1. Requirements for water temperature
Tropical fish prefer to live in rivers or lakes with clean water bodies, lush aquatic grasses and slightly flowing water. Because it comes from the tropics, captivity must first meet the temperature condition, that is, when the water temperature is low, it needs to be heated. Most tropical fish require a water temperature of 18 to 30 °C, and the most suitable water temperature is 22 ~ 26 °C.
The hot climate in the tropical rainforest area makes the water temperature change little throughout the year, there is no obvious distinction between the four seasons, tropical fish live in this water body, 22 ~ 26 ° C is the normal water temperature in the aquarium, although some tropical fish living in slightly higher latitude areas (zebrafish, swordfish, flower fish) can adapt to slightly lower water temperatures, but these fish are few.
Too high or too low a temperature can cause discomfort to tropical fish, resulting in dull colors, reduced appetite, and even illness and death. In addition, tropical fish cannot adapt to instantaneous drastic changes in temperature. If the fish is put into another body of water when changing the water and the temperature difference is 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, or the lack of thermal insulation measures during transportation, it is easy to cause the death of tropical fish.
2. Heating and heating tubes
Heating pipe is an indispensable heating equipment in the fish tank, the current market heating pipe is mostly automatic temperature control type, can be started or disconnected according to the level of water temperature, so that the water temperature is maintained at the set value. The power of the heating pipe is proportional to the amount of water in the aquarium, that is, the more water, the greater the power, otherwise, the winter temperature cannot rise to a fixed value. When using the heating tube, it should be put into the water and then energized, cut off the power supply for a few minutes and then removed, and prevent collisions and falls. When raising large fish, a metal mesh cover should be used to protect the heating tube. Before adjusting the set temperature of the heating tube, the power supply should be cut off, then removed from the water, adjusted to the required degree, and then put back into place and fixed. In the colder season, in order to save costs, the fish tank should be insulated. Method of insulation: fix or sew cloth bags with flat plastic foam on the left and right sides of the aquarium; Greenhouse rearing or enclosed balcony rearing, larger commercial rearing, indoors with coal stoves for pipe heating. Piped heating is to let the hot gas pipe pass through the room and dissipate heat, or use special equipment to circulate the hot water on the furnace through the closed pipe in each aquarium to supply the heat directly to the cylinder.
There are heating facilities in the northeast, which bring convenience to the rearing of tropical fish, generally do not require special heating, the cost will be much lower.
3. Cooling measures
In summer, the indoor water temperature reaches 31 to 32 ° C, almost to the physiological limit of tropical fish. In the summer, when the water temperature is normally maintained at about 25 ° C, the plug of the heating tube should be unplugged (in addition to high-temperature fish such as arowana, colorful, etc.), the fish tank should not be placed in a place where there is sunlight, and the cylinder lid should be opened to strengthen heat dissipation and reduce the time of light illumination.
Ice cubes can also be bandaged and placed in water, but for a large vat of hundreds of liters of water at 31 ° C, it can be described as a "cup of water". It is a good idea to use groundwater to cool down, pour most of the well water into a plastic bag with a capacity of 10 kg, tie the bag mouth into the fish tank, and then replace it after one or two hours, and the large feedlot simply let the well water pass through the sealed pipe placed at the bottom of the pool, and the cooling effect is also obvious.
In addition, turning on the air conditioner or chiller is also a good cooling measure, but the cost is too high.
