Nest oil cake, unforgettable childhood delicacy

People's lives are always fond of too many senses and tastes, so that some special tastes will not be forgotten from childhood to old age.

In fact, everyone will have their favorite taste, especially the snacks they ate as a child. The taste of it, even if it is the passing of the months and decades, will remain in the mind.

Today, whenever I think of the delicious snacks I ate as a child, I feel endlessly fond of them, excited, and sighed.

Born in the countryside of Xindu District, Chengdu, I had a lot of delicious snacks when I was a child, but what can be left in my memory, in addition to Ye Erzhu, there is also a delicious snack called Wozi Oil Cake.

Since leaving my hometown Xindu to work in Nanchong, it has been more than 40 years, and I have never tasted the familiar taste of wozi oil cake again when I am far away from my homeland.

When I was a child, I always liked to go to the market (field) with adults, and at noon (noon), I would take the few cents I wanted from my mother and go to the stall to buy a nest oil cake to eat, which tasted great.

It is understood that the process of making nest oil cake is to wrap the glutinous rice steamed and pressed glutinous rice balls into sweet bean paste, make a concave round cake, fry it into a golden brown, eat it while hot, crispy and sweet, and those who love to eat sweets feel particularly good, therefore, many Chengdu people have a special love for wowo oil cake.

When I was a child, I saw two kinds of oil cakes at the snack stalls, one was a square oil cake and the other was a nest oil cake.

Square oil cake is square (or square or rectangular), selling for five cents a piece, nest oil cake is round, with bean paste inside, selling for eight cents a piece.

Because the wozi oil cake is wrapped in delicious bean paste, it has the characteristics of crispy outside and soft inside, yellow and crispy, sweet and delicious, so it is much loved by people.

Somehow, later, fewer and fewer people made nest oil cakes, and the fried stalls only saw fritters and did not see oil cakes.

One day in 2013, I was on a business trip to Chengdu, and near the hotel where I was staying, I was pleasantly surprised to find a stall selling wozi oil cakes, so I gladly went there.

The black oil pot, the fried nest oil cake is as thin as paper, it is dry and hard to chew, and it has no childhood taste at all. In particular, the wonderful feeling of crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside could not be found at all, and the result was very disappointing to me.

One afternoon at the end of March this year, I went to a relative's house in Banzhu Park, Xindu District, Chengdu, and accidentally learned that there was a store in Banzhu Park that sold wozi oil cakes for three yuan a piece.

Surprised, I was ready to go to taste it, but unfortunately, the store's nest oil cake only sold in the morning.

So my relatives promised me that when I had the opportunity to come to Banzhuyuan Town, I would tell them in advance and I could buy them first.

The plot of childhood is long gone, but the familiar taste of childhood is still remembered. in Lan Lu
