In September 1927, our beloved chairman led the famous Autumn Harvest Uprising in Xiangganbian. Because of the lack of combat experience of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army and the fact that the enemy was too strong, the uprising ultimately failed. However, it opened up a new road for the development of the revolution and successfully created the first rural revolutionary base area.
The most remarkable thing is that after the baptism of this uprising, our army has left a group of military talents who are loyal to the party and have outstanding ability, and after the founding of the country, 21 founding generals have emerged from them. In fact, there are still many military elites who have sacrificed themselves in the revolutionary road, such as Lu Deming, the commander-in-chief of the Autumn Harvest Uprising, who heard the news of his death and said bitterly, "Return me Lu Deming!" Give me 3 divisions and don't change them."

Later, in the third anti-"encirclement and suppression" struggle, a general who participated in the autumn harvest uprising was also sacrificed. After the chairman heard the news of his death, he also called his superior leader Lin Biao over and severely criticized him. Not only did the chairman attach great importance to him, but other founding generals also spoke highly of him, and Admiral Xiao Hua once said: If he did not sacrifice, he should be a marshal.
This person is Zeng Shi'e.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="5" > gave up a comfortable life and enlisted in the army</h1>
Zeng Shi'e was a native of Yiyang, Hunan. When he was a teenager, Zeng Shi'e was very good at school, but because of his poor family situation, he dropped out of school for a while and went to the shop to become an apprentice. Fortunately, his fellow people sympathized with his plight and generously donated money to support him to continue his studies, which eventually led him to enter the revolutionary road.
In 1924, Zeng Shi'e finished his studies and was introduced to find a job at the Jianghua County Office. He came from a poor family, and it is very good to have a decent and stable career now. But this comfortable environment was not the state of life he longed for, and after careful consideration, Zeng Shi'e resolutely resigned from public office and applied for the Whampoa Army Principal Shasan Branch.
After graduation, Zeng Shi'e was incorporated into the student team of the Independent 1st Division of the Eighth Army, and participated in the Northern Expedition in 1926. At this time, he was already a member of our Party.
As everyone knows, the reason why the Northern Expedition achieved brilliant results has a lot to do with the contributions and sacrifices of the party members of our party in the Northern Expedition. However, Chiang Kai-shek, seeing his interests and forgetting his righteousness, brazenly launched a counter-revolutionary coup in April 1927, and soon the Eighth Army also began the Qing Party movement. Since most of the students of the Independent First Division were members of our party, they were all disarmed and dismissed.
In order to devote himself to the revolutionary cause, Zeng Shi'e gave up a stable job and fought bloody battles on the battlefield, but now he has achieved such a result. Zeng Shi'e did not give up, but returned to Hunan and joined the Liuyang Workers' and Peasants' Volunteer Brigade.

Fast forward to September, in order to prepare for the autumn harvest uprising, the Workers' and Peasants' Volunteer Brigade was reorganized into the Third Regiment of the First Division of the First Army of the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army. Zeng Shi'e served as the commander of the machine gun company. No sooner had the troops been reorganized than the chairman came to inspect the three regiments and conveyed to them the spirit of the Eighty-Seventh Meeting of the Party Organization.
This was the first time Zeng Shi'e had met the chairman, and the vivid and colorful speech of the chairman on the podium had a deep impact on him, and also made him feel that this was the person he wanted to follow all his life.
After the defeat of the uprising, the chairman held a meeting of the cadres of the three regiments in Shangping to analyze the current situation. Let everyone regain their revolutionary confidence, although a few people were intimidated by the immediate failure, but most of them, like Zeng Shi'e, revived the morale of the army and firmly followed the chairman.
Later, the chairman of the Wenjia City Conference proposed to abandon the attack on Changsha and move to the Luoxiao Mountains, where the enemy's strength was weak. Although Yu Shandu disagreed, he received the support of many military cadres of the three regiments, such as deputy regiment commander Wu Zhonghao, company commander Zeng Shi'e, and lu Deming, the commander-in-chief of the uprising, thus opening up a new revolutionary development path for the creation of rural revolutionary base areas.
Before the uprising, the whole army had more than 5,000 people, and now there are less than 1,000 people left, and the huge losses have demoralized the whole army. When he came to Yongxin Sanwan, the chairman reorganized the troops and also selected a group of officers and men with excellent military quality and political reliability to form a special agent company, and Zeng Shi'e served as the company commander.
Although they were all company commanders, Zeng Shi'e was able to hold this position, which was enough to see the chairman's appreciation and appreciation for him.
It is worth mentioning that when arriving at the foot of Jinggang Mountain, the chairman also summoned a company of special agents and made an important speech, in which several points were mentioned:
"First, we must obey the command in our actions; second, we must return to the public when we strike up local tycoons; and third, we must not indiscriminately take a sweet potato from the peasants."
This was the source of our army's "three major disciplines and eight points of attention" later.

The chairman and Entering Jinggangshan had their first discussions with Yuan Wencai and others, and only a few people were brought with them, including Zeng Shi'e.
Once Zeng Shi'e led a special agent company to follow a battalion to attack Chaling, but he did not expect to win the battle, but after entering the city, the regimental commander Chen Hao had the idea of rebellion. At the critical moment, Zeng Shi'e led a company of secret agents to capture several traitors of Zhang Hao, successfully rescued Zhang Ziqing and others who were under house arrest, and successfully brought the team back to Jinggangshan. If it were not for Zeng Shi'e's decisive action, the losses of the revolutionary contingent would have been great.
Zeng Shi'e was loyal to the party and an excellent military talent. In 1928, the enemy took advantage of the emptiness of the base area and attacked the Huangyang Boundary. The enemy had one division, and the defensive force in the base area was only two companies, including three companies of Zeng Shi'e, and unfortunately, his company commander was still recuperating.
Upon hearing that the battle situation was urgent, Zeng Shi'e took the wounded to the front line to command, and he and several remaining leaders, with the strength of two companies, defeated the invading enemy in one fell swoop. It has created a military miracle and written a brilliant stroke in the history of revolutionary development.
As the leader of the grass-roots officers of the Red Army, Zeng Shi'e's position was promoted quickly, and a year later he became the commander of the second column of the Red Fourth Army, and the political commissar was the later founding marshal Luo Ronghuan. Later, the second column was reorganized into the 11th Division, and the 27-year-old Zeng Shi'e became the commander of the Red Army division.
At that time, not only did the chairman attach great importance to him, but Lin Biao also admired him very much, as long as Commander Lin had something to do, Zeng Shi'e acted as the military commander.
Why is Zeng Shi'e so good, because he is very concerned about ordinary officers and soldiers on weekdays, as long as he knows what difficulties everyone has, he will find a way to solve them and share weal and woe with everyone. On the battlefield, he also took the lead and became a model for the officers and men of the whole army. Under his leadership, his army was disciplined, brave and tenacious in battle, and was the main force of the Red Army, and even had the title of "Steel Army".
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="29" > heroic sacrifice</h1>
After the third anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaign began in 1931, Zeng Shi'e led the 11th Division to travel to many places and won three consecutive battles and three victories in Liantang, Liangcun, and Huangpi. After the enemy army collapsed, he led a team to attack the enemy at Zhushan Mountain, and the two armies fought fiercely, and Zeng Shi'e had been directing the battle on the front line, and even did not eat anything for more than 30 hours.
The enemy did not make any progress here and began to send troops to attack the headquarters of the Red Fourth Army. At the moment of crisis, Zeng Shi'e personally organized a death squad to charge, and under the fierce attack, the enemy army was repelled, but the commander of the Zeng division was shot several times and died heroically.
At that time, Luo Ronghuan, the political commissar of the division, stayed in the rear due to foot injuries and suppuration, and as soon as he heard the news of Zeng Shi'e's death, he dragged his injured foot to the front line to command the team to pursue the enemy, and more than 5,000 enemy prisoners were captured in this battle alone. However, the brilliant record could not offset the losses caused by the sacrifice of the former division commander.
After the war, because of Zeng Shi'e's sacrifice, the chairman specifically called Lin Biao over and severely criticized him.
The Chairman spoke highly of this sacrificial benevolent general
"Zeng Shi'e organized the charge and sacrificed at the most critical moment, and his exemplary behavior inspired the soldiers and changed the battle situation", and soon after at the suggestion of the chairman, the General Political Department of the Red Army issued a call to learn from Zeng Shi'e. For the first time in the history of the Red Army, the whole army was ordered to learn from the individual.
