In December 1936, two generals, Zhang and Yang, gave Chiang Kai-shek a military advice in Xi'an, forcing Chiang Kai-shek to stop the civil war and unite with the outside world, which was the Xi'an Incident that changed history. Under the mediation of our Party, the Xi'an affair became resolved peacefully, and the two parties also cooperated for the second time to establish an anti-Japanese national united front.

Soon after the establishment of the Anti-Japanese United Front, the July 7 Incident broke out, the main force of the Red Army in northern Shaanxi was reorganized into the Eighth Route Army, and many Eighth Route Army offices were established throughout the country, including the Nanjing Office, the Chongqing Office, and the Lanzhou Office. After the establishment of these offices, they were soon involved in actions related to the consolidation of the anti-Japanese united front, such as the rescue of comrades who had previously been captured by the Kuomintang.

In September 1937, the Nanjing office of the Eighth Route Army rescued a female comrade named Zhang Yuexia. Born in 1910 in Zhejiang, Zhang Yuexia was only 16 years old in 1926 and began to participate in revolutionary activities as a teacher, mainly to promote revolutionary ideas to the local peasants.

After the defeat of the Great Revolution, Zhang Yuexia joined our party and began to engage in underground work. In 1928, Zhang Yuexia was ordered to Go to Shanghai, entered the secretariat, and served as a clerk and underground traffic officer, mainly for the organization to transmit intelligence. At that time, the main place of activity of "Teko" was in Shanghai, however, in 1931, Gu Shunzhang's rebellion caused serious damage to the underground work in Shanghai, and many revolutionary comrades were arrested by Kuomintang agents, including Zhang Yuexia.

Fortunately, Zhang Yuexia was a woman, and the organization bailed her out through the Mutual Masonic Association. Zhang Yuexia also left Shanghai and went to Jiangsu to serve as an officer of the Jiangsu Organization Department and continued to work underground in Jiangsu. In 1934, Zhang Yuexia was again arrested by the Kuomintang reactionaries and imprisoned until the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, with the help of the Anti-Japanese United Front, she was rescued from prison by the Nanjing office of the Eighth Route Army.

After regaining her freedom, Zhang Yuexia entered the Yangtze River Bureau and continued to serve as an officer in the Organization Department, and soon after, she was transferred to the Southern Bureau in Chongqing, where Zhang Yuexia met Bogu. At that time, Bogu happened to be working in Chongqing, his wife Liu Qunxian also divorced him, and Zhang Yuexia also experienced a failed marriage, the two injured people came together, in 1939, that is, two years after Zhang Yuexia was released from prison, she married Bogu, Dong Biwu served as their witness.

In November 1940, Zhang Yuexia followed Bogu back to Yan'an, and during her time in Yan'an, she successively served as the deputy director of the cadre department of The Northern Shaanxi Public School and the chief of the cadre section of the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University in Yan'an, and was later transferred to the Organization Department as the chief of the cadre section. During this period, Zhang Yuexia participated in the rectification movement in Yan'an, and also participated in the Seventh National Congress as a representative, ushering in the victory of the War of Resistance.

The year after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Zhang Yuexia's husband Bogu went to Chongqing to attend a political consultative conference, and on the way back, the plane he was riding on was hit by an air crash, and Bogu died prematurely at the age of 39. After Bogu's death, as his wife, Zhang Yuexia was full of sorrow, but she still attended her husband's memorial service with a sad heart, and spoke on stage as a family representative, calling on everyone to turn grief into strength and live strongly.

Bogu had six children, five of whom were born to his ex-wife Liu Qunxian, and only the youngest son, Qin Tie, was born to Zhang Yuexia. After the death of her husband, Zhang Yuexia never married, personally raised Bogu's orphans, and regarded them as her own, including the economic difficulties after the founding of the Country, Zhang Yuexia never gave up. Under the cultivation of Zhang Yuexia, bogu's children have become the pillars of the motherland.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhang Yuexia has been living alone, she entered the supply and marketing cooperatives, successively served as the deputy director of the sales bureau, the director of the daily miscellaneous goods bureau and other positions, and did a lot of work to stabilize prices and enrich the people's vegetable baskets. Later, Zhang Yuexia entered the Women's Committee and made outstanding contributions to the protection of women's rights and interests in New China. In 1979, Zhang Yuexia died of illness in Beijing at the age of 69.
