In addition to salmon in deep-sea fish, cod is also very popular, but there are many cod names on the market, it is estimated that you are dizzy, what is the difference between various cod?
Cod and cod are not the same fish. Cod is not a scientific name for fish, it is a trade name like salmon.
Bare-lipped fish and small canine tooth antarctic fish (less produced) are usually classified as silver cod. The former belongs to the family Gymnoflora, and the latter belongs to the Antarctic fish family of the order Perciformes, so it has nothing to do with the cod family.
The real cod, which is really red in the red root, that is, the cod of the cod genus of cod in the family Cod, only Atlantic cod, Pacific cod, Alaskan cod (also called yellow line cod), Greenland cod. What we often see in our daily lives is the first three types of cod.
Explain the relationship between these fish, and today I will take the above 4 kinds of fish to compare with you.
They are all rich in protein, of which true cod has a higher protein content than silver cod, and the Atlantic cod and narrow cod have the highest protein among real cod.
Eating 100 grams of Atlantic cod can meet 32% of the daily protein needs of white-collar women.
Cod is particularly prominent in fat content, twenty or thirty times that of real cod, which is more fragrant and more energetic, and the higher EPA and DHA content are all for this reason.
Here's a special mention of DHA, which is an important nutrient in the development of a child's brain and vision.
Infants and young children are usually recommended to consume 100 mg per day. Pregnant and lactating mothers consume no less than 200 mg per day.
The DHA content of silver cod is 4 to 8 times that of real cod, and from the perspective of nutritional value, silver cod is indeed superior, so it is also favored by many parents in the early stage.
However, cod has a relatively high mercury content and requires control; if it is given to children, it is recommended not to exceed 50 grams per week.
According to the World Health Organization's calculation of the tolerable intake of methylmercury per week (1.6 μg/kg body weight), an adult weighing 60 kg should not exceed 96 micrograms of methylmercury per week, which is equivalent to eating no more than 266 grams of cod in a week.
In comparison, real cod will be relatively safe.
In addition, the price of silver cod is about 4 times that of real cod, and the DHA content of real cod, especially Atlantic cod and narrow cod, is also more than 100 mg/100 g. Eating 50 grams a day will meet 1/2 of your baby's daily needs.
When you buy cod, in addition to looking at their trade names, remember to look at the detailed remarks, real cod will emphasize that it is Atlantic cod, Pacific cod or Alaskan cod, look for the right to buy.
