◎ Translation sequence

Austen's (1775-1817) novels are love stories, but she herself never married. She died in 1817 at the age of forty-two.

Austen completed two novels before the age of twenty-two, namely Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice...

The plot of "Sense and Sensibility" revolves around the mate selection activities of the two heroines, focusing on revealing the ugly fashion of using marriage as a means to seek economic security for women in the British social trend at that time, and the ugly fashion of ignoring women's feelings and human rights. The heroines in the novel all pursue equal exchange and communication with men's thoughts and feelings, demand equal rights in social status, and adhere to the freedom to independently observe, analyze and choose men. In England at the time, this was almost a cry of resistance.

*The author ultimately appreciates the heroine Eleanor, as she is both emotional and sane. This shows the author's ideal on this issue, that is, man cannot be without feelings, but feelings should be conditioned by reason.

◎Synopsis

Eleanor and Marianne are two sisters, and since the inheritance of their fathers goes to his ex-wife's son John, after the death of their father, they and their mother are not only financially strapped, but also have to get rid of life under the fence.

They finally made their home in a country house in Devon. Eleanor breaks up with the young Edward she falls in love with (the younger brother of her sister-in-law Fanny), and Marianne's willoughby, whom she met and fell in love with in the countryside, suddenly goes to London. The two sisters were thus separated from their loved ones.

As the plot progresses, both loves have twists and turns.

When Eleanor heard Lucy Steele privately tell her that she and Edward had been privately engaged for four years, she held back her feelings and promised to keep it a secret for her. Eleanor hid the pain of lost love in her heart, and when Marianne was finally rejected by Willoughby, her spirit was greatly stimulated, and later even in the process of illness, she tried her best to comfort her sister and help her cheer up. Lucy was opposed by Edward's mother, Mrs. Fals, the rich widow, who insisted that her son marry Sir Morton's only daughter.

Edward was reluctant to do so, and his mother stripped him of the inheritance and passed on the property to his second son, Robert, at this time Eleanor was still so open-minded that he was entrusted with informing Edward that he could get a priesthood and be eligible to marry Lucy.

Lucy turned to robert, who had the good fortune, and married him.

In this way, Eleanor and Edward can finally become a family.

* Since the feelings themselves are beyond reproach, it would be a disgrace to her to suppress them not only in vain, but also in the submission of the intellect to worldly misconceptions.

* Intimacy is not determined by time and opportunity, the only determining factor is character. For some people, seven years of familiarity with each other is not enough, but for others seven days is enough.

* If half the world is intelligent and kind, Marianne, like the rest of the small group, is talented and temperamental, but irrational and prejudiced. She demands that others have the same opinions and feelings as herself, and she judges their motives only by her own intuitive impressions of their actions.

* Love is an imprint that never fades, even in the face of storms.

* Say change of heart is change of heart, which can be regarded as love.

* The earth has not been lost, but it is still the same. Whatever it is, falling into the sea, it will eventually become a tide, flowing elsewhere, and if it is lost, it will be gained.

* If a woman is unfortunate enough to be smart enough to know everything, she must also know how to pretend not to know anything.

* Their marriage is a union of love, warmly praised by friends and confidants, they are intimate with each other, they know each other well, and life is certainly happy,......
