Qian Haoliang, born in Shanghai in 1934, a native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang, also known as Qian Zhenglun, once used the name Haoliang. His father, Qian Lintong, was a famous veteran actor. He was once a "full-life" Peking Opera Wusheng, influenced by his family, from the age of 6 he practiced with his father to learn art, fell in love with Peking Opera when he was young, and later entered the "Zheng" character class of Shanghai Drama School to learn martial arts.

In 1950, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, Qian Haoliang applied for the China Experimental Opera School (the predecessor of the Chinese Opera School) and was admitted, studying under famous teachers such as Shang Heyu and Chi Yueting. Six years later, he became a member of the China Experimental Peking Opera Troupe. In 1962, he was selected to transfer to the Peking Opera House in China.

Qian Haoliang greatly admired Li Shaochun, a famous actor in the Peking Opera House in China, and hoped that with the help and guidance of Li Shaochun, he would improve and sharpen himself, and finally grow into a literary and martial artist in the Field of Peking Opera. Soon, Li Shaochun, who loved talent, adopted him as an apprentice.

Li Shaochun can be said to have passed on his Peking Opera talents to Qian Haoliang without reservation, teaching every move and style, board and glance by hand, and Qian Haoliang was even more humble to seek advice, saying that he would be called a master.

The highlight moment of Qian Haoliang, who was deeply passed down by master Li Shaochun, was to star in the modern Peking Opera "Red Lantern", especially in the 1971 film version of "Red Lantern", Qian Haoliang played Li Yuhe, and since then he has become popular overnight.

Realistically speaking, for the shaping and singing of Li Yuhe in "Red Lantern", Qian Haoliang is "better than blue out of blue", and his singing is obviously stronger than master Li Shaochun's sense of rhythm, imposing, more masculine, and the lyric version is more refined and unforgettable.

However, in the more than a decade of the 1970s and 1980s, Qian Haoliang was censored, and even if there was no problem with the censorship, he was not given the opportunity to take the stage.

During that period, not only Qian Haoliang himself, but even his wife, the famous Peking Opera actor Qu Suying and his daughter Hongnan, were eagerly awaiting the day when he would return to the stage.

It was not until the mid-1980s that Qian Haoliang was transferred to teach at the Hebei Provincial Art School and re-entered the stage.

That year, just after receiving the notice to perform on stage, Qian Haoliang began to practice hard. In the play, it is required to pounce, fall, overturn, and fight, and in a play, it is necessary to change into a variety of weapons such as spring and autumn knives, seven-star knives, Qi Mei guns, and red tassel guns, which is by no means an easy task for him who has bid farewell to the stage for more than ten years. Often practice hard for more than 10 hours every day, and when I get home, I collapse on the bed...

Qian Haoliang became young and famous, old and sharpened, but he finally walked through that difficult period of time with extraordinary temperament and excellent singing skills.

In addition to the modern dramas "Red Lantern" and "White Haired Girl", Qian Haoliang's representative works also include costume dramas such as "Vazidu", "JiepaiGuan", "Pick A Scooter", "Changshanpo", "Wild Boar Forest", "Huarong Road", "Golden Leopard", "Serial Set" and so on.

Qian Haoliang's wife is the famous Peking Opera Danjiao actor Qu Suying, originally, she was the first Peking Opera actor in the country to play "Li Tiemei", but when filming the film, it was changed to the well-known Liu Changyu, and Qu Suying tearfully agreed. Fortunately, she later played the company commander of the Red Detachment of Women in the modern Peking Opera "Red Detachment of Women" released in 1972.

On June 5, 2021, the burial ceremony of the famous Peking Opera performance artist Qian Haoliang was held in the Great Wall Memorial Forest of JiugongShan in Beijing. Qian Haoliang's widow Qu Suying called Liu Changyu, 79, asking her to come and give her a ride.

At the scene, Liu Changyu spoke emotionally: Brother Qian Haoliang was my great benefactor, and in that special era, he used special methods to protect me. Today, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank this master brother, I am very grateful to him...
