According to a 1984 Xinhua news agency, "In the past five years, the Vietnamese army has continuously fired artillery at schools, farms and other places in our country, causing a total of 235 deaths to the military and civilians... Forcing farmers to be unable to farm, students to be unable to attend classes normally..."
In order to restore tranquility in the border areas and protect the lives and property of the border people, the Battle of Laoshan was about to break out.
The Battle of Laoshan lasted for nine years, the war time spanned from 1984 to 1993, the main commanders were Xu Shiyou and Yang Dezhi, under the leadership of the two generals, after nine years of bloody struggle, our army finally recovered Laoshan and Ziyin Mountain.
In this 9-year-long Sino-Vietnamese War, the number of casualties was naturally not small, and the soldiers of our army during this period were between the ages of 18 and 25.
These soldiers were originally born after the founding of the country, they should have lived a peaceful life, but when most of our country was living a stable life, they bid farewell to their parents, carried guns and ammunition, and embarked on the battlefield of the old mountain with the responsibility of a soldier.
No one knows whether they were afraid and afraid at the moment they went to the battlefield, and no one knows what their hearts thought when death was approaching.
The only thing we know is that for the sake of the country's territorial integrity and the happiness and stability of the border people, they resolutely chose to fight the enemy to the end, and some even paid for their lives, and Zhao Weijun, who was only 18 years old, was one of the martyrs.

In 1985, 17-year-old Zhao Weijun finally became a glorious soldier in the Lanzhou Military Region.
After officially joining the army, Zhao Weijun knew how hard life was in the barracks, and a lot of physical training every day made him feel overwhelmed, but Zhao Weijun knew that this was the path that every soldier would take, and he chose to grit his teeth and insist.

Born in the era of peace, Zhao Weijun did not experience the cruelty of war, nor did he know that death on the battlefield was not far away, he only knew that the duty of a soldier was to defend his family and defend the country, and soon he got the opportunity to go to the battlefield.
In April 1986, Zhao Weijun followed the troops to Wenshan Prefecture and completed the assembly and training, and when everything was ready, Zhao Weijun's unit officially took over the 67th Army of the Jinan Military Region and entered the battlefield of the Laoshan Campaign.
This year, Zhao Weijun was only 18 years old, just put on the uniform for a year, he went to the front line, and his comrades-in-arms stuck to the difficult conditions of the Songmaoling position, in the low and damp "cat hole", they resisted nearly a hundred sneak attacks by the enemy.
During this period, the enemy also dropped tens of thousands of shells on the places where Zhao Weijun and others were stationed, and indiscriminately bombarded them, but in the end they were all resisted by Zhao Weijun and his comrades-in-arms.
Although on the battlefield, shells are everywhere, Zhao Weijun is not afraid, and when the danger is approaching, he will still rush forward without hesitation.
Fast forward to the hottest July, Zhao Weijun has been coming to the Laoshan battlefield for three months, compared to the youth when he first joined the army, after the baptism of war, he is more mature and strong, but just when he intends to continue to fight the enemy to the death, death is approaching him step by step.
On that day, Zhao Weijun unfortunately stepped on the mines planted by the enemy, although he tried his best to avoid the moment when he sensed that there were mines, he was still hit by the explosion and immediately fell into a coma.
After a long time, Zhao Weijun gradually regained consciousness, and he was a little happy in his heart the moment he learned that he was still alive. However, this time of rejoicing was short-lived.
Because the medical environment and medical equipment were very simple at that time, although Zhao Weijun was sent to the ambulance team in time, the treatment effect was not obvious, and the injury was too serious, and he had a continuous high fever.
Relying on his willpower, Zhao Weijun endured severe pain and fought with the god of death, how eager this hot-blooded young man was that he could get back on his feet and return to the battlefield.
But instead of leaving, Death approached him like a devil. Because of the harsh environment, zhao Weijun soon appeared with symptoms of infection, he always switched between waking and coma, and his body was like being burned, and the pain was unbearable.
