Liu Jijie (October 3, 1918 – November 5, 1983), a native of Tianjin, was an outstanding Chinese painter, a master of comic strip art, the founder of new Chinese comic strips, the first person of Taishan Beidou and Liantan. Known as the "Saint of Contemporary Painting" and "Rembrandt and Michelangelo of the East", he is an accomplished master of animal painting and figure painting in the history of modern and contemporary Chinese art.

Mr. Liu Jiji's comic strip "Mr. Dongguo" is adapted from a fable in the Ming Dynasty Ma Zhongxi's collection "Dongtian Anthology", to the effect that the kind literati Mr. Dongguo went out to meet a wolf who had been injured and was being chased by hunters, was deceived by the wolf's rhetoric (this wolf has a wide range of knowledge and can speak eloquently), protected the wolf at an emergency, and after the wolf determined safety, he would take revenge to eat Mr. Dongguo, and Mr. Dongguo stubbornly maneuvered with the wolf, and with the help of the witty father-in-law, he got rid of the wolf.
Now "Mr. Dongguo" refers to the kind and foolish people who are kind to the bad guys; "Zhongshan Wolf" refers specifically to those who are ungrateful and will take revenge.
