"Let the gunshots of the reactionaries be our wedding salute!" In the movie "Wedding on the Execution Ground", the male and female protagonists face the muzzle of the enemy without fear and hold a wedding at the last moment of their lives. The prototype of the male and female protagonists is the revolutionary martyrs Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun, who were originally from Wuyi, Jiangmen.
93 years ago, in Honghuagang, Guangzhou, Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun bravely volunteered and dedicated themselves to the cause of the party. The only "group photo in front of the iron window" they left behind has become a precious image in the revolutionary history of the Chinese Communist Party. Their revolutionary friendship was called "the purest and noblest love" by Premier Zhou Enlai.
Today, in Zhou Wenyong's hometown of Kaiping City, Jiangmen, Zhou Wenyong Chen Tiejun Martyrs Cemetery is solemn and solemn, and Zhou Wenyong's former residence has gone through vicissitudes, as if telling the heroic deeds of the two martyrs to the people who came to visit.
The sons and daughters of Wuyi dedicated themselves to the party
Tan Jingyi, a docent of the Chen Tiejun Martyrs' Cemetery, introduced that Zhou Wenyong (1905-1928) was a native of Lily Town, Kaiping City, Jiangmen, while Chen Tiejun (1904-1928), whose ancestral home was Taishan, Jiangmen, was originally named Chen Xiejun, and later renamed Tiejun, which means that the iron heart follows the Communist Party.
In October 1927, Zhou Wenyong was involved in the preparations for the Guangzhou Uprising. Chen Tiejun was dispatched by the party to disguise himself as Zhou Wenyong's wife and participate in the preparations for the Guangzhou Uprising. In the early morning of December 11, 1927, the Guangzhou Uprising broke out and the Guangzhou Soviet Government was established, and Zhou Wenyong was elected as the People's Labor Committee of the Guangzhou Soviet Government. However, the uprising was frantically suppressed by Chinese and foreign reactionary forces, and it was defeated on the third day. Zhou Wenyong evacuated Guangzhou and moved to Hong Kong.
In January 1928, Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun once again pretended to be husband and wife and returned to Guangzhou to rebuild the party organization. On February 2, Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun were arrested at the same time due to traitors' betrayal. In prison, the enemy inflicted all kinds of inhumane torture on them, such as "filling them with pepper water," "sitting on a tiger stool," and "pointing to the heart with bamboo sticks." On the afternoon of February 6, 1928, Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun bravely took up their righteousness at Honghuagang (now the Guangzhou Uprising Martyrs' Cemetery) on the eastern outskirts of Guangzhou. At the last moment of their lives, Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun regarded death as if they were returning home, and passionately shouted "Down with the Kuomintang reactionaries!" "Long live the Chinese Communist Party!" At the time of his death, Zhou Wenyong was only 23 years old and Chen Tiejun was 24 years old.
The only group photo shows heroism
The reporter learned that in 1958, the Kaiping County People's Government built the Monument to the Martyrs of Zhou Wenyong Chen Tiejun in Lily Town. In 1998, the Lily Town Government built the Zhou Wenyong Chen Tiejun Martyrs Cemetery around the monument, covering a total area of 7,254 square meters. In 2016, with the approval of the State Council, Zhou Wenyong Chen Tiejun Martyrs Cemetery was selected as the sixth batch of 96 new national martyrs' memorial facilities announced by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
Today, on a platform of more than 20 meters high in the cemetery, a 31.6-meter-high martyr's monument stands majestically, as if the heroic body stands proudly. To the right of the monument are the Martyrs' Statue Memorial Square and the Martyrs' Memorial Hall. The double bronze statues in the square stand side by side, with a determined expression. A new relief wall was built next to the square, and the plating process of gray carving copper solemnly showed the history of the party from the May Fourth Movement to the Guangzhou Uprising. Entering the Martyrs' Memorial Hall, the bronze bust of Zhou Wenyong Chen Tiejun is impressively in the eye, and the immortal poems written by Zhou Wenyong on the prison wall are engraved on the side: the head can be broken, the limbs can be broken, and the revolutionary spirit is indestructible; the head of a strong man is the party fall, and the body of a good man is a group of cracks.
In the section of the memorial hall, a wealth of pictures, objects and multimedia audio-visual materials are displayed. Among them, the photo of Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun attracted the attention of reporters. "This is the only group photo taken of the two martyrs in the enemy's prison before their uprising." The person in charge of the memorial hall introduced, "From the photo, you can see that Zhou Wenyong is wearing a suit and standing tall, and Chen Tiejun is wearing a wide scarf and leaning closely next to him." Looking closely, both of them had been severely tortured at that time, and Zhou Wenyong's right hand had been fractured. But their expressions were very calm and calm. ”
Not far from the Martyrs' Cemetery, Baoding Village of Maogang Village Committee of Lily Town, the former residence of Zhou Wenyong has also become a place of admiration for many cadres and masses. According to reports, the former residence of Zhou Wenyong was built in the Qing Dynasty, sitting north to south, and the appearance is an ordinary green brick wall and tile roof building. The former residence now retains the items used by Zhou Wenyong such as closets, square tables, wooden boxes, etc., and is accompanied by some written materials to tell zhou Wenyong's growth experience. At present, Zhou Wenyong's former residence is undergoing renovation, preparing to build a small square for party building, and plans to open an exhibition hall.
Heroic deeds inspire future generations
It is reported that every year around the Qingming Festival, many local cadres and masses will spontaneously come to the martyrs' cemetery and former residence to commemorate the martyrs. Since the study and education of party history was launched this year, the crowd has been even greater. Huang Haohan, principal of the Clam Gang School in Kaiping City, who recently organized students to come to commemorate the occasion, said: "We organized students to come to mourn the martyr Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun, hoping to cultivate the children's patriotic feelings and let them know that today's happy life is bought with the lives and blood of countless revolutionary martyrs."
"We have always carried out the study and education of party history as a normalized work. Since March, many enterprises, institutions, private groups, and veterans have come to pay tribute to our heroes. Tan Jingyi said, "In order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the party, we are ready to upgrade the memorial." This year, a seminar room will be added to the museum to provide a place for visitors to study and discuss, so that more party members and the masses can relive the revolutionary road. At the same time, the multimedia venue will be expanded to accommodate 100 people. ”
