Giuliani, 77, has filed numerous lawsuits in multiple states on behalf of the Trump campaign, accusing Democrats of rigging the election without hard evidence.

The Lawyers Disciplinary Committee of the New York State Court of Appeals said "indisputable evidence" showed that Giuliani made false statements to the court, the public and members of Congress as he pushed through allegations of electoral fraud.

The commission noted that Giuliani's "continued attacks on the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election and the current U.S. President Joe Biden are tearing our country apart." ”

The court's 33-page ruling said Giuliani's conduct "constituted a direct threat to the public interest and was suspended from practice accordingly." ”

The case, which came after dozens of prominent lawyers asked the court to temporarily revoke Giuliani's attorney license, said the move was to defend American democracy.
