Male version of the big vinegar jar: Li Yi, a poet of the Middle Tang Dynasty

author:Poetry Junyan

In the Tang Dynasty, there was a kind of man's disease called "Li Yi Disease", if any man was particularly careful with his eyes, was not at ease with the character of his wife and concubine, was always suspicious of gods and ghosts, and was defensive everywhere, people would say: This man has a disease, a disease like Li Yi!'

Who is Li Yi? Li Yi (747--829), courtesy name Junyu, was a native of Luoyang, Henan, and a famous poet of the Middle and Tang Dynasties. The Old Book of Tang highlights four points in his account: poetic fame, strategy, arrogance, and jealousy. When he was young in Luoyang, he was an Internet celebrity in the poetry world, and once his poems were published, the singers competed to sing, and some people embroidered his poems on the screen, improved the pressing, decorated the façade, and even some palace musicians paid heavy contracts, bought his new poems, taught singers to sing, and pleased the emperor. At the age of 22, he was admitted as a jinshi, served as the chief bookkeeper of Zheng County (present-day Hua County, Shaanxi), and when he was not promoted during the promotion period, he threw himself into the frontier shogunate military camp and worked in the five major military regions for more than ten years. (Biography of Tang Caizi)". During his time in the shogunate, he wrote a large number of biansai poems, which established his unique position in the poetry circle of the Middle and Tang Dynasties. The great poet Wei Yingwu has four poems written about him, "" Emperor Daizong heard of Li Yiwen's name and transferred him to the central government, successively serving as a secretary and a young supervisor and a scholar of the Jixian Temple, but he despised his colleagues and had a bad attitude, so that his colleagues could not stand it, so some people reported that he had complaints about the emperor in his poems, and as a result, he was demoted and punished by being sent to other places, and later returned to the dynasty to achieve the title of Libu Shangshu, a proper provincial and ministerial high-ranking official.

Jealous Shangshu Li Shilang

Regarding his jealousy, it is recorded in the history of Masashi Nobu, and the situation is basically true. The most detailed record is the notebook novel "The Biography of Huo Xiaoyu", which says that Li Yi fell in love with the prostitute Huo Xiaoyu for many years when he was young, but when he was admitted to the jinshi, he changed his heart and hid from Huo Xiaoyu all the time, Huo Xiaoyu became depressed and became ill, and saw Li Yi before dying, and she vowed to become a ghost to punish Li Yi and disrupt his married life. Sure enough, after Li Yi got married, he often found that his wife Lu Shi had signs of suspected cheating, in fact, his wife was innocent, and they were all ghosts made by Huo Xiaoyu with hades black technology. Li Yi's psychological shadow area is huge, and he guards against his wife everywhere, including sprinkling dust at the door, locking his wife in the house, holding her under the bathtub and then putting a seal on it. Later, it developed to repeatedly beat and force his wife to confess, and his wife was also a woman from a large family, who could not bear Li Yi's domestic violence, and finally sued to the court and divorced. Li Yi remarried his wife and bought concubines, and his jealousy became more and more perverted, stalking, confinement, severe beatings and abuse, inhumane, and even killed concubines. For example, he traveled to Guangling (Yangzhou), bought a beautiful girl camp eleven, liked it tightly, he wanted to be good with others, and at the same time deliberately told him that he had bought a concubine in so-and-so in so-and-so, because he had committed something, I killed her according to a certain law. He talked about this kind of trouble every day, with the intention of intimidating Xin Huan and exercising mental control over her. It is indeed not lightly ill. Therefore, the society called this kind of andrology jealousy "Li Yi disease", and gave him an honorary title of "Jealous Shang Shu Li Shilang". Li Yi is such a strange, extremely perverted male version of the vinegar jar.

You really didn't cheat?!

This big vinegar jar character does not prevent Li Yi from writing good poems, "Quan Tang Poems" contains about 160 of his poems, let's appreciate two of them. The first song "The Flute of the Descending City at Night":

The sand is like snow before huilefeng, and the next month of the city is like frost.

I don't know where to blow the reed pipe, and I will look at the hometown overnight.

Huile (yuè) beacon, also known as "Huile Peak", refers to the beacon tower in Huile County, a county slightly southwest of Lingzhou (present-day Wuzhong, Ningxia). The city of surrender, referring to the city of Lingzhou, was once surrendered by the Turks during the Zhenguan period by Emperor Taizong of Tang, so historians called it the city of surrender. The moon, here refers to the moon color, not to the moon, because the moon cannot be "under the city". The first two sentences say: Under the moonlight, the vast flat sand in front of the Distant Huile Beacon looks like white snow; nearby, the scenery under the descending city is like a layer of frost. The scene outlined by the author is grand, but the tone is cool and the style is low. "Reed Pipe: Also known as Hu Di, the Hu people use a blowing instrument made of reed leaves, the sound is sad" (Zhao Changping). This explanation is not correct, the beard is a wooden wind instrument, about 58 cm long, with three holes. The reed pipe is a bamboo or brass wind instrument, about 19 cm long, with seven holes and a reed spring whistle on the upper end. To say that the reed pipe is a hu di is confused; to say that the reed pipe is a reed leaf roll is expected to be suspected of being literate. The sound of the reed pipe is slowly lingering, whimpering and sad. The third sentence said: I don't know where the sound of blowing reed pipes came, whimpering, very desolate. The fourth sentence says that the sound of the reed pipe caused a strong nostalgia among the soldiers of the whole army, who missed their hometown all night long. "Looking" here is not looking up, but a substitute for "thinking", which means "thinking and thinking". Because, first, the hometown is far away, hope is impossible to see, hope is futile; second, if you really look up, you can only last for a short time, people's physical strength is limited, it is impossible to look in the direction of the hometown all night long. So why doesn't the author directly use the word "si", I think it is mainly for the sake of phonology, "wang" is a slang sound, which is opposed to the "lu" character of the previous sentence, which meets the requirements of the grammar, "si" is a flat sound, and the word "lu" cannot form a pattern of ping and relative. In addition, "hope" is to open the mouth, and "thought" is to call with the teeth. Opening the mouth is convenient to express feelings such as grand, open, and distant, while Qi Yahu appears cramped and stingy. Therefore, the use of the word "hope" with the number of pawns and the length of the night is very coordinated, and if the use of "thought" is not coordinated. In short, using "hope" to express the meaning of "thinking" takes into account several aspects and achieves more in one fell swoop. The poetic mood of this poem is also quite broad, but it is obviously inferior to the sheng Tang Dynasty of "Qin Shi Mingyue Han Shi Guan", and the emotional tone has also become low, tired, and sad.

Look at the second song, "Happy to See My Brother and Say Goodbye":

After ten years of separation, we grew up and met.

Ask the surname surprised at first sight, call the name reminiscence of the old appearance.

Don't come to the sea, the words stop the twilight clock.

Tomorrow Baling Road, Akiyama is several times heavier.

The poem was written around the time of the Anshi Rebellion. Because of the war and displacement, the poet and his cousin met ten years after their separation, probably as little teenagers at the time of separation, and now they have grown up. Just met, asked each other for the last name, under the question, surprised and confused, you should not be my cousin (cousin), right? In a moment of surprise, he called out the other party's nickname, and suddenly activated all the memories, when they played with mud together, your demeanor, your appearance. So, start talking, this is how you have come this decade, blablabla, there are endless words, until it is dark, and in the distance comes the chimes of the chimes, when ~ when ~ when ~ . The encounter is so happy, but the happiness is so short, because tomorrow we will go our separate ways, you are going to Baling, and we will be separated by thousands of mountains and rivers again!! Happy to see my brother and say goodbye, a joy and a sorrow! Wrote the helplessness and sorrow of life's uncertainty.

Leaving aside The problem of Li Yi's big vinegar jar, his poetry is still very worthy of appreciation.
