The body of the sambar deer is tall and stout, the body hair is rough and sparse, the tear socket is larger, the neck hair is longer, it is a national second-level key protected wild animal, listed in the "IUCN" red list of endangered species, the sambar deer feel sensitive, alert, good at running, often active in the water's edge, inhabit the broad-leaved forest, mixed forest, savanna grassland and high grassland belt, feeding on grass, fruit, leaves and young shoots. The male has a thick three-pointed horn, the longest of which is up to 1 meter, the coat color is light brown or black brown, the female deer is slightly red, likes to move after sunset, has no fixed nest, and has the habit of vertical migration along the hillside.
In recent years, with the increase in the restoration and protection of the ecological environment in Banma County, Qinghai Province, the ecological environment has improved significantly, the number of animals and plants has increased significantly, and the activities of wild protected animals have been frequent, and the Marco River Forest Area in the eastern section of Sanjiangyuan is currently the most abundant ungulate species known in Qinghai, among which the hairy-crowned deer, musk musk, Chinese iguana and impala have a large number, and the population shows a healthy state.
