In 2008, on the eve of a 73-year-old Liu Bingyi's solo concert, he found his mentor, Yang Bide, who was in his eighties, to take professional classes again, and after 46 years, the warm classroom scene of the past reappeared. Recalling the teachings of his mentor, Liu Bingyi said that Mr. Yang had an approachable demeanor, and did not care about the majesty of the "dignity of the teacher". "Mr. Yang has had a huge impact on my artistic life. From the age of 16 to the age of eighty, the reason why my singing career has lasted for a long time is that mr. Li laid the foundation for my teaching! Liu Bingyi said. Yang Bide has developed a unique, systematic and scientific teaching method, and has made outstanding contributions to the singing and teaching of vocal art in China.
Today, the 93-year-old Yang Bide is still optimistic, kind and enthusiastic, humorous and funny, and always maintains the mentality of a young man. His extraordinary diligence has resulted in extraordinary vocal techniques. He loves vocal music, always has an amiable attitude, cares deeply about his students and often helps in life.
The master helped him establish his artistic direction
In 1940, a melodious piano and singing voice were often heard in a church school in Peiping, which was 13-year-old Yang Bide, who insisted on practicing and singing regardless of the cold and summer with a beautiful vision of music.
Born in Beijing in 1927, Yang Bide's church choir and piano sound deeply attracted this teenager, and God gave him a good voice for singing, he loved music and studied piano at the same time. Yang Bide, a 17-year-old sophomore at Beijing's Chongshi Church School, has made a temporary debut in singing, and he joined the largest Yas Auditorium Sacred Orchestra in Beijing at that time, a high-level professional choir, conducted by Mr. Yang Rongdong. In this orchestra, he was trained professionally as a soloist in the English version of Hendell's oratorio Messiah, Haydn's Genesis and The Passion.
In 1948, Yang Bide was admitted to Beijing Normal University with excellent results and studied under Professor Shen Xiang. During his studies, Yang Bide showed extraordinary talent. In the city of Beijing at the beginning of the founding of New China, the art discipline of Beijing Normal University was particularly dazzling, it was the strongest public art discipline, and almost all important artistic activities were directly related to Beijing Normal University. At that time, the masters of art disciplines gathered, the musician He Luting, and Hong Shen, Jiao Juyin, who had made outstanding contributions to the development of China's drama stage art, and other artists personally taught the students, which also laid a rich foundation for Yang Bide's future singing. Jiao Juyin opened professional courses such as the Stanislavsky system and the concept of Western drama for the students of the department, and Mr. Jiao's artistic ideas had a great influence on Yang Bide, establishing the direction of his pursuit of vocal art, and he integrated the master's exquisite treatment of drama into singing. Mr. Jiao also praised Yang Bide. In addition, Janbid also met some famous vocal experts, such as Medvyev, Mezel, Kalinin, Kuklina and so on. Kalinin, a famous professor at the Prague Conservatory in the Czech Republic, was the best student of the famous bass master Charlipine, who taught Jan bide some tricks.

In 1956, he was transferred to the Vocal Music Department of the Central Conservatory of Music as a teacher.
In 1952, at the Beijing International Club, the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries held an evening party to entertain envoys and friends from various countries, and Yang Bid sang "Ode to the Yellow River" wonderfully, which was rare at that time to sing a difficult Chinese song in a formal occasion and sing in a bel canto. "Ode to the Yellow River" has inspired the heroes and children of Yan'an countless times. When singing, he has a confident mind, exerts endless imagination, and has a shocking charm. He used his unique unique skills such as weak voice, sonorous, tight, coherent singing and other treatments, and sincerely sang the voice of the heart. The whole song came down, the passion was surging and the heroism of the sons and daughters of China was fully displayed. The old comrades present were filled with emotion and burst into tears. The foreign friends present were also shocked to hear that in China, where bel canto singing was not yet developed at that time, there was such a transparent bass. On different occasions, this song has also been praised by musicians such as Liu Baiyu, Minister of Culture of the General Political Department, Zhao Feng, President of the Central Conservatory of Music, Shi Lemeng, Head of the General Political Song and Dance Troupe, and Li Delun, conductor of the Central Orchestra.
In 1956, Yang Bide sang at the first party of Soviet experts coming to China, which Premier Zhou Enlai attended. Backstage, he
He and the Peking Opera master Mei Lanfang discussed vocal music and Peking Opera art, and the two became acquainted.
Yang Bide's vocal range is wide, the timbre is thick, the sound quality is thick, the words are clear, the singing is enthusiastic, the singing is smooth, the voice is flexible and changeable, and when singing difficult arias and various styles of Chinese songs, he can give appropriate performance through vocal techniques, and the singing is full of vitality and appeal. His interpretations of other vocal works in Europe and the United States are classics, especially in Russian vocal works.
In the 1950s, Yang Bide held a solo concert; in the 1960s, he participated in the concert to commemorate the world's cultural celebrities, and sang "Nian Nu Jiao Chibi Huaigu" in the classical song "Nine Palaces Dacheng" sponsored by the Chinese Music Association; after the 1960s, he held a number of solo concerts in Beijing, Tianjin, Xi'an, Lanzhou and Fuzhou, with enthusiastic responses. Sometimes, Yang Bide will suddenly receive important performance tasks. In 1976, the Capital Gymnasium held a concert of Mao Zedong's poems, and after careful discussion, the leaders of the General Political Department decided that he would sing Chairman Mao's poem "Nian Nu Jiao Bird Q&A".
In 1981, Yang Bide and Yang Hui sang at the Beidaihe Foreign Experts Bureau.
Chairman Mao's poems are always published very seriously and prudently, the words and style must be sung accurately, and no mistakes are allowed, and singing this song is undoubtedly a test. Yang Bide did not dare to delay for a minute, repeatedly considering the use of sound. The mood of the poems is changeable, ranging from majestic and earth-shattering, to soft-spoken and even witty and humorous. One of the words is as follows: "I did not see the previous year's autumn moon, and made three treaties." There is also food, potatoes cooked, and beef added. Don't fart, try to see the heavens and the earth turn upside down. "At that time, Yang Bide was pondering with the score of the music - the first few sentences were used in a stretch narrative, or was it witty?" Don't fart" is a phrase that is ironic or decisive? His performance also represented the image of the General Political Unit, and the performance was also broadcast live on television, and on the same day, Yang Bide's magnificent and relaxed performance shocked the audience. At the end of the song, warm applause rang out, and everyone's nervous hearts finally let go.
Cultivate vocal music for the country
In May 1992, in the final of the Capital University Vocal Music Competition, he took a group photo with Shi Lemeng, Ye Peiying, Meng Ling, Cheng Xiulan and other judges and leaders of the Higher Education Bureau.

Countless students trained by Yang Bide have taken root and sprouted across the country and become the country's vocal pillars. His student and singer Liu Bingyi said his precious friendship with Mr. Yang spanned more than half a century. In 2008, on the eve of the 73-year-old Liu Bingyi's solo concert, Yang Bide, who was in his eighties, once again gave the student a lesson, pondering the singing method and excavating emotions word by word, and the warm classroom scene of the past resurfaced, which was quite emotional. Recalling the teacher's teachings, Liu Bingyi could not hide his gratitude. He once said that Mr. Yang has an approachable demeanor, and does not care about the majesty of "the dignity of the teacher". At the beginning, he was at the Central Conservatory of Music, from Bai Ding in the second year until he graduated after five years of school, he has been following Mr. Yang in class. It is Mr. Yang who has paid countless painstaking efforts and hard cultivation to have his achievements today. "Mr. Yang has had a huge impact on my artistic life. From the age of 16 to the age of eighty, the reason why my singing career has lasted for a long time is that mr. Li laid the foundation for my teaching! Liu Bingyi said.
In 1972, China's political environment was complicated, and there were different accounts about the whereabouts of the Central Conservatory of Music. One day, an army jeep suddenly appeared in the place where the teachers were exercising, and several comrades of the General Political Song and Dance Troupe dressed in military uniforms found the leaders of the Central Conservatory of Music and informed Yang Bide that after careful discussion by the Party Committee of the General Political Department, Premier Zhou Enlai gave instructions to transfer 6 people from the Central Conservatory of Music to the General Political Song and Dance Troupe, and Yang Bide served as a soloist and instructor.
Yang Bid went to the Zongzheng Song and Dance Troupe for 12 years, during which he trained a group of singers who were well-known in the international music scene, such as Ma Ziyu, Luan Feng, yan Weiwen. After that, Zhao Feng and other leaders of the Central Conservatory of Music repeatedly negotiated with the song and dance troupe, and eagerly hoped that Yang Bid would return to his original unit again. At that time, the leaders of the General Political Song and Dance Troupe and the conductors Shi Lemeng and Hu Defeng resolutely refused to let go. However, President Zhao Feng still did not give up the struggle for talents. In the end, Liu Baiyu, a writer and then minister of culture of the General Political Department, proposed a compromise solution: "Comrade Yang Bide is a talent of the country and a talent of the army, and I think it is the best choice to go to the People's Liberation Army Art Academy." So in 1984, Yang Bid came to the People's Liberation Army Academy of Arts to serve as the head of the music department and continue his artistic life. During this period, he also served as a course at the Central Conservatory of Music, and singers Peng Kangliang and Shu Feng were also students he trained during this period.
In the military arts, Yang Bid personally worked out the teaching and training program and the reform of the curriculum structure, laying the foundation for future generations. He invited famous teachers to give lessons to the students, led the students to the most grass-roots units to comfort the soldiers, and walked in the forefront of activities such as earthquake relief and relief. Like the soldiers, he slept in the open, trained and formed a number of military and armed police orchestras, and provided opportunities for military singers and performers to further their studies.
Yang Bide is selflessly dedicated to the cause of Chinese vocal music, and his singing voice is always inspiring. The experience of the older generation of vocal artists is not only of historical value, but also of great significance to contemporary music education. While looking up to the classics, we should also inherit the precious spiritual wealth, which will certainly give Chinese vocal musicians far-reaching enlightenment.
