Sixty years ago, the film "The Tempest", based on Zhou Libo's novel of the same name, vividly told the moving story of land reform and became the memory of generations; now, shangzhi city in Heilongjiang Province, where this story takes place, will give birth to a film with the theme of rural revitalization, "The Storm of Jiumei Village", which will continue to write a new chapter in the new era of Rural China. On May 29, the film held a launching ceremony in Beijing, and the film's director Wei Qing, screenwriter Bai Tiejun and starring Guo Jiaming and Zhang Kai appeared.
The film is adapted from Min Yan's novel "Nine Sisters Village", with the young female branch secretary Jiu Mei of Yuanbao Village in Shangzhi City as the core character, telling the story of her leading the villagers to start a business and become rich in the new era and revitalize their hometown.
"The relationship between Chinese farmers and land is the most important social focus and the theme of various eras for more than two thousand years," director Wei Qing said, "We have gone through 'land reform', 'people's communes' and 'co-production contracts', and now we have ushered in the 'rural revitalization' of the new era." We want to think about a series of great changes that have taken place in China's rural areas from land reform, to poverty alleviation, to rural revitalization, especially the changes in the digital economy and network resources to rural areas, for example, many farmers now use live broadcasting to make money, our protagonist is a post-80s female secretary, I hope to photograph the digital transformation of China's rural areas. This shooting process is also a practice of literary and art workers going to the countryside, which will also be reflected in the film. ”
The screenwriter of the film, Bai Tiejun, has participated in the creation of dramas such as "Ma Dashuai" and "Country Love", and is good at northeast themes. He confessed that because of the foundation of the original novel, "The Storm in the Nine Sisters Village" has a good story foundation, and the next step is to make it filmed and television as soon as possible in a limited time. He revealed that the film will continue some of the character relationships between Zhou Libo's novel and the movie "The Tempest", and the style will focus on the comedy route.
Filming will begin in June this year and is scheduled to be released within this year.
