In the 1960s, the most famous woman in All of China was not a movie star or a sports athlete, but Xing Yanzi, an urban middle school girl who was willing to return to her hometown to work as a farmer. (Formerly known as Xing Xiuying)
Xing Yanzi's deeds are very legendary, although her hometown is located in Sijiazhuang Village, Dazhongzhuang Town, Baodi County, Tianjin, she was actually born in Beijing.
And the family conditions are very good, the father Xing Yu is the deputy director of the North China Enamel Factory in Tianjin, and the mother also works in a sewing factory in Tianjin.
When Xing Yanzi was a child, she grew up with her grandfather who lived in Sijiazhuang Village, and when she reached the age of studying, she was taken to Tianjin by her father to study.
This also laid the groundwork for Xing Yanzi to return to the countryside to work as farmers later.
Because Xing Yanzi and Grandpa had a deep affection, and Grandpa was alone in his hometown at the time, plus he may not be so adapted to city life, Xing Yanzi, who is still in elementary school, has been pestering his father and asking to go back to his hometown to take care of his grandfather.
Xing Yanzi's father could not help his daughter, so when his daughter was 12 years old, he transferred Xing Yanzi from the city back to Sijiazhuang Village.
Xing Yanzi's junior high school was also studied in the countryside, and when he graduated from junior high school, Chairman Mao issued a call to the vast number of young people that "all intellectuals can go to the countryside, where there is a vast space, and there will be great achievements." So Xing Yanzi decided to respond to the call of the great man and return to the countryside to work as a farmer.
Some people have said that Xing Yanzi has been studying in the countryside, how can he say "return to the countryside to work as a farmer"?

Don't forget, her father is the deputy director of Tianjin North China Enamel Factory, she herself is a Tianjin Hukou, and with her junior high school education at the time, it is not difficult to find a formal job in Tianjin.
However, Xing Yanzi insisted on staying in Sijiazhuang Village to work as a farmer, and Xing Yanzi's father was eventually persuaded by Xing Yanzi to support his daughter's decision.
In this way, Xing Yanzi, who was only 17 years old, actively responded to the call of the state, took the initiative to give up the comfortable life in the city, and did the opposite, resolutely returning to her hometown of Sijiazhuang Village.
And the educated Xing Yanzi, did not really feel at ease about farming, but organized the women in the village, set up a "women's production commando team" (that is, the Xing Yanzi commando team that was later famous throughout the country), they fished during the day, weaved straw hats at night, others were resting, Xing Yanzi and the members of the commando team were working hard, during that time she could only sleep an average of five or six hours a day, but the kung fu paid off, and they earned 3600 yuan all winter.
This was a very large sum of money at that time, no less than 1 million yuan today.
In this way, she became the representative of the intellectual youth "rooted in the countryside", became a national model and advanced, and for a long time all over the country was printed with her head, or created propaganda posters based on her own appearance.
She became one of the most well-known women at the time and became an idol for the youth of the time.
In the following ten years, Xing Yanzi was received by Chairman Mao five times, Premier Zhou 13 times, and served as a deputy to the National People's Congress for many consecutive terms.
Even Xing Yanzi has held important positions such as the secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and a member of the Central Committee, but she, the secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and a member of the Central Committee, is not paid, and when she does not hold meetings, she still has to earn her own work.

After the reform and opening up, Xing Yanzi resigned as the secretary of the municipal party committee and the central committee member, and worked in the CPPCC for a long time, in 1985, Xing Yanzi stepped down as vice chairman of the Tianjin CPPCC committee, and then served as the deputy secretary of the Zhiqing Farm branch, and soon after was appointed as the deputy director of the northern suburban people's congress, in charge of urban and rural construction and environmental protection work.
When talking about reform and opening up, Xing Yanzi said that reform and opening up is definitely a good thing, and her family's life is also slowly getting better because of reform and opening up.
Although Xing Yanzi also held the position of leading cadre for a long time after the reform and opening up, Xing Yanzi never sought welfare for her family, and even never let her family "shine".
Before retiring, Xing Yanzi's husband Wang Xuezhi managed vehicles at the vehicle management office and commuted to work with Xing Yanzi on the same road. Xing Yanzi's home is ten kilometers away from the unit, and according to regulations, Xing Yanzi, who is the deputy director of the People's Congress of Tianjin Beichen District, has a special car transfer. In the event of wind and rain, neighbors will also rub a car.
But her husband, Wang Xuezhi, did not once enjoy such preferential treatment. There is a bathroom in the courtyard of the district people's congress, which is dedicated to the staff of the unit. Wang Xuezhi was watching the car in the open air, often covered in soil and sweat, and his comrades pulled him to take a bath, but he never went.
Even Xing Yanzi's husband, Wang Xuezhi, only went through the "agricultural to non-agricultural transformation" in 1987 and became a worker.

After Xing Yanzi officially retired in 2001, she accepted the three rooms and two halls assigned to her by the organization, and Xing Yanzi's two sons never "touched the light", but only worked as drivers in the organ.

Someone once interviewed Xing Yanzi: "How do you feel now from the peak to the end, from the state cadres to the ordinary people?" ”
Elder Xing Yanzi said calmly: "I was originally an ordinary rural girl, under the cultivation of the party, I did some things for the country that I should do, which is not commensurate with the status and honor given to me by the party and the people. ”
In 2009, Xing Yanzi was named one of the "100 Chinese Objects That Have Touched Since the Founding of New China".
