In January 1939, at the Fifth Plenary Session of the Fifth Central Committee of the Kuomintang, the problem of dealing with the Communist Party was regarded as an important topic, and the policy of "dissolving the Communist Party", "preventing the Communist Party" and "restricting the Communist Party" was decided. After the meeting, anti-communist documents such as the "Measures for Restricting the Activities of Other Parties" and the "Measures for Handling The Communist Party Problem" were successively formulated and secretly issued. The contents of this meeting were quickly passed on to the hands of the party organizations, which provided an important basis for cracking down on the anti-communist arrogance of the Kuomintang reactionaries.

No one would have thought that the person who would pass on such confidential content was Shen Anna, a stenographer who was sitting less than four meters away from Chiang Kai-shek at the meeting. At this time, Shen Anna, who was less than 25 years old, had been lurking inside the enemy for many years, responsible for the shorthand work of the Kuomintang Supreme Military and Political Council. Over the years, she went deep into the Tiger's Den and sent out a lot of crucial information for the party organization!
Shen Anna was born in 1915 in Taixing, Jiangsu Province. In January 1935, Shen Anna entered the Secretariat of the Zhejiang Provincial Government of the Kuomintang as a stenographer, and because of her skillful shorthand ability, Zhu Jiahua, the then chairman of Zhejiang Province, was impressed by her. In October 1938, through zhu Jiahua's introduction, Shen Anna joined the Kuomintang as a special party member and was arranged to work as a stenographer in the confidential department of the party department of the Kuomintang Central Committee. In this regard, Shen Anna began to fight intelligence work in the heart of the enemy. Due to her outstanding professional ability, Shen Anna was the perfect candidate for shorthand in all meetings chaired by Chiang Kai-shek. After each meeting, Shen Anna always tried her best to convey the enemy's military situation and anti-communist deployment and senior officers' speeches to the party organization.
Working in the Kuomintang officialdom for a long time, Shen Anna often felt depressed in the face of a smoky and miasma working environment. Deep down, she was desperate to return to the organization. In 1938, when Shen Anna was reporting at the Eighth Route Army office in Wuhan, she met Zhou Enlai and Dong Biwu, and she expressed her hope that the party organization would send her to Yan'an, but she did not agree. At the same time, the organization also stressed to her the importance of intelligence work, and the party needs her to continue to work hard in this post, hoping that she will put the overall situation of the revolution first and be willing to be an unsung hero for the party's cause.
With the encouragement of Zhou Enlai, Shen Anna, who was driven by Mao Setun, successively intercepted many important pieces of information for the party organization. In the autumn of 1939, the Organization Department of the Southern Bureau accepted Shen Anna into the party. In the autumn of 1941, Shen Anna was about to give birth, but she still insisted on being on the front line of work. When she learned that Chiang Kai-shek would plan a new anti-communist conspiracy at the upcoming meeting, Shen Anna did not care about the safety of herself and her children and insisted on attending the meeting to do shorthand. Finally, she successfully obtained important information such as He Yingqin's "Outline of the Report on the Issue of the Communist Party (Draft)" and Xu Enzeng's "Proposal on Handling the Problem of the Communist Party (Draft)". In the autumn of 1942, Xu Zhonghang, a superior who had one-way contact with Shen Anna, was arrested. In order to protect Shen Anna, the party organization cut off contact with her. From then on, until 1945, Shen Anna lost contact with the party organization, and for three years, during that time, Shen Anna endured a huge test that ordinary people could not imagine. It is necessary to disguise oneself in front of the enemy, but also to pay attention to gathering intelligence, and waiting for the resumption of contact with the party organization. In October 1945, after the resumption of contact with the party organization, Shen Anna obtained a large number of core secrets and some strategic, early warning, and dynamic valuable information for the party.
In May 1949, Shen Anna finally returned to the embrace of the party amid the guns of liberating Shanghai, ending a 14-year latent career. These unsung heroes who fight in the heart of the enemy, are unknown and not afraid of sacrifice for the cause of the party, and deserve our respect and study.
